Review: Here’s Another Very Cute Baby Shower Gift Book

line-severinsen-im-so-pregnant

Novelty books are always a great gift to give a first time mom or a woman who has just announced she is expecting her first kid. I was sent a copy of Norweigian illustrator and animator Line Severinsen‘s new graphic book, “I’m So Pregnant” to check out (retail: $14.99US). It’s a humorous take on all the common and untold unpleasantness of pregnancy.

In the intro to the hard cover book of over 50 pages of illustrations, Severinsen explains, “Like many women, when I became pregnant with my first baby, I was so excited to have the experience of carrying a child…but then, not long into my first trimester, I started noticing how the media and blogosphere continuously painted pregnancy in such a glorious light, completely leaving out the negative things that many pregnant women experienced.”

She said that’s when she grabbed her pencils to start telling her “pregnancy story in an honest way.” But with all the “keepin’ it real” in between the pages of her new book, Severinsen acknowledges it all ends well.

“I like to think that these drawings show that while pregnancy is not always easy (or pretty, or comfortable, or fun),in the end, when you see your baby for the first time, it is completely worth it,” she writes.

I found the illustrations about the sudden appearance of stretch marks, the asinine question one gets at the end, “You’re still pregnant?!”, the screaming for an epidural, the delivery selfie, and the unexpected bowel movement during the pushing stage to be the BEST and funniest parts!”

Overall, the short read is a pleasurable and fun take on pregnancy-hood. It’s on sale now! Grab your copy from our partners at Amazon.com.

Meanwhile, the title reminded me of this parody of rapper Iggy Azalea‘s song “Fancy” called “I’m so pregnant. WATCH:

What’s Up with Mags Making Celeb Kids Models Look This Adult?

halycon kids

Halycon Kids, a quarterly magazine for preteen and teen readers which focuses on  fashion, art and DIY, has several celebrity kids models on the cover of its Fall 2016 issue. We love the pop of red featured boldly in the spread and the gold, silver and black Michael Kors kicks they are all wearing.

D’Lila, Jessie, and Chance Combs, whose parents are Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Kim Porter, are wearing a dress by Tago Look and shoes by Michael Kors.

Sean “P.Diddy” Combs‘ and his ex Kim Porter‘s children, twin 9-year old daughters Jessie and D’Lila Combs are featured in Newspaper print dresses , as is his daughter with ex Sarah Chapman, 10-year old Chance Combs in a cute crimson bubble dress with royal sleeves.

Chance Combs, daughter of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Sarah Chapman, is wearing a dress by Junona and shoes by Michael Kors.

Cali Dream, the daughter of rapper The Game is also featured in a cute dress with a tu-tu skirt and is the only one who looks her age, albeit she too is toting a pound of excess weave on her head.  Don’t get me wrong. I think they all look very cute, albeit very serious and very adult. Maybe a little too adult.

Harper Tillman, daughter of Kiki and Travares Tillman, a retired NFL player is also on the cover and is used to being made up because she is a professional child model who walks in many fashion shows. Tilman is often dressed up and made up like a little adult in many mag spreads. Maybe I’m an old folgie and I am paranoid over the existence of pedophiles who search the internet for kids images but something about how grown these children look in these photos make me uncomfortable.  I mean, Harper looks twice her age in most of her pics like these:

harper 7 harper 8Disney channel actress Skai Jackson  is also featured in the magazine and by the looks of her Instagram page, it appears that she has become the latest fave for magazine editors and is getting lots of coverage, which is really cool. She started to get wide spread popularity beyond the kids’ TV scene when she took on rapper Iggy Azalea in a famous Twitter beef this past May.  Before that, she was featured often in a meme.

Since shutting Iggy down on Twitter, she’s the new teen “it” girl and has been featured on Paper magazine, Teen Vogue, SeventeenYSB Now and of course, Halycon Kids and many others. She’s riding high and that’s a wonderful thing! But still…..

‘I’m So Married’ & ‘I’m So Pregnant’ Iggy Azalea Parodies are ON POINT!

If you are a newlywed or married for a few years, you will find this parody to Australian rapper Iggy Azalea‘s hit song “Fancy” is hilarious and sooo true! It starts with the newlywed stage when it’s all sex all the time and to 5 year when  you get so comfortable, you’re on the toilet while he’s brushing his teeth. We can relate! Too funny.  It’s at 100,000 views of this posting and counting. Check it out!

And when you’re done check out the pregnant version which came out a little while ago which is at 5 million and counting and is also quite relatable:

And of course: The original:
