How Olivia Culpo’s Marchesa Water Dress helps Charity

Actress and former beauty queen Olivia Culpo’s Oscar red carpet dress will help provide clean water to children in the developing world.

The former Miss USA and Miss Universe 2012 teamed up with our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Georgina Chapman to design the dress made up of a chalice.

“It’s in partnership with Stella Artois and,” the star of The Other Woman  told Ryan Secrest on the red carpet. “Stella Artois created chalices and for one chalice sold, five years of clean drinking water is provided for someone in the developing world. So this dress is actually made out of the chalice pieces, and it’s encouraging people to get involved in the water crisis and buy the chalice.”

And it is a stunning masterpiece. It even flows like water.

“We wanted the dress to represent water itself, so it’s sort of cascading,” she explained. “The crystal represents the water as well. We knew we wanted tears.”

She continued, “They did an amazing job…and it’s fun when you can incorporate good things and charity into fashion!”

Pregnant designer Georgina Chapman: Pregnancy unleashes “fantastical” designs

Georgina Chapman is always “dramatic” when designing, but goes to the next level when she’s pregnant.

Georgina Chapman finds herself “unleashing even more of that fantastical thinking” when designing when pregnant.

The British star and her friend Keren Craig are the brains behind the Marchesa label, which is renowned for its stunning red carpet dresses.

Georgina is expecting her second child with her husband Harvey Weinstein and last month attended the Oscars with him. She opted for an ivory empire-cut gown with a bodice embellished with pearl and metallic stones. Pregnancy has always made the star feel more creative.

“I’m quite pregnant at the moment, as you can tell in the photos! As such, I wanted something comfortable, soft and free-flowing, but still romantic and intricate. I created the gown relatively last minute, but I was very happy with it,” she told

“I have felt an incredible rush of creativity during my pregnancy. It was the same for my first pregnancy, too. I am dramatic in my design approach to begin with, but when I’m pregnant, I tend to unleash even more of that fantastical thinking.”

Although she’s expanding her family, Georgina hasn’t taken time off from work. She’s created a lower-priced line which is available from US retailer J.C. Penney and has designed a range of bridalwear.

Georgina approaches creating such pieces in much the same way she does her other outfits.

“The design process remains the same for me, but I do certainly take the bride into consideration. I think about everything from structure, style and fabrics, to how the gown will look in photos and the style of wedding. The same Marchesa aesthetic always applies for our bridal collections: feminine touches, dramatic flair and

Bump Watch: Georgina Chapman commands the Oscar red carpet

Correction on last night’s round up… we totally missed the very gorgeous heiress and Marchesa designer and co-owner Georgina Chapman, who looked absolutely radiant in a floor length white dress from her own label ornately embellished with a jewel-encrusted bolero and accented with a fab white clutch. The sleek pulled back bun served well to not distract from the sophisticated beading.
We accidentally reported that actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum, wife to Channing Tatum, was the only known preggers celebrity to walk the red carpet last night.

Though exquisite, the length of the dress could have been a hazard and challenge via a trip hazard. That probably explains why her husband stayed glued to her side all night.

Chapman and her husband movie producer Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Brothers and founder of Miramax films are expecting their second child together. The couple are parents to daughter India, 2,  and Weinstein is already papa to 3 other daughters Lilly, Lucy and Emma  from a previous marriage to Eve Chilton.

Chapman’s label designed dresses worn on two other attendees last night: Olivia Munn and Fan Bingbing.

Star  HBO’s The Newsroom, TV host and actress Olivia Munn looked fab in red Marchesa gown with gold embellished corset bodice. The half Chinese half German actress was a  correspondent of The Daily Showa host of several G4 channel programs and had several small roles before landing a gig on the popular show.

Mega film producer Harvey Weinstein and wife Georgina Chapman welcome 2nd child

File this in the category “Missed”! Check this. The totally gorgeous designer Georgina Chapman just had her second child with her mega super producer hubby Harvey Weinstein. The couple have been married since 2007. The new baby joins the couple’s 2-year old daughter India Pea. [UPDATE SHE IS EXPECTING HER THIRD CHILD]

So the H in Hollywood stands for this dude. Weinstein is one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World 2012, and o-founded Miramax films (Shakespeare in Love, Pulp Fiction, The Crying Game, Good Will Hunting, The English Patient).

And Chapman, a designer protegee since a teen, heir to the Percol coffee  fortune and co-founder to label Marchesa,  is quite the trophy wouldn’t you say? 🙂

She was one of the judges on Project Runway: All Stars.

Bump Watch: Molly Sims bumps it up on the red carpet

Molly Sims shared this photo of herself looking radiant on the red carpet of the January 14th Art of Elysium  charity gala, writing on her blog that she wasn’t sure she’d be able to pull off such a bright orange.
“But getting dressed up is already that much harder when you’ve got a little bun in the oven, so I decided to trust in the power of Marchesa (which you all know I do since they designed my wedding dress) and go for it!” she wrote. “I’d say it worked, wouldn’t you? I just adored the flowy fabric and draping, the beaded embroidery at the shoulders and the baby bump-accommodating empire waist.”
I love the draping. On her website, Sims shows readers how to modify that feel, look and color in other styles. Nice that she’s taking control of her pregnancy and melding her modeling and fashion know how with it.
