You no longer have to send in your story to Maury Povich and hope he picks you to come and bring your group of potential baby daddies on the show for a big reveal, Identigene DNA Testing kits are available at select drug stores for a mere $29.99!
It boasts a 2 day turn around and being convenient and confidential. But beyond being used for paternity tests (oh the poor babies that will be tested during daddy’s weekend), the DNA kits are also used for immigration and visa applications and for estate and inheritance reasons. You know, because there is always that errant “outside affair” child that shows up at the door when the rich dad passes away, getting in line for her share of the inheritance pie.
CVS, DuaneReade, Wallgreens, Walmart, RiteAid and other sites sell the tests. The lab fee is $129.00 bringing the total cost to $158. It has gotten great reviews from Walmart users too.
I joke but seriously this type of low cost test can be a relief for many families as I’ve seen plenty of cases, in my own circle and on TV, where a man is led to believe he is the father of a child, spends much time and money and interest invested in that child only to discover later that he is not the father. By that time, the bonds have been formed and there will be a lot of confusion, hurt and pain for all involved, especially the child who had grown to believe a certain person is his or her dad. It can create feelings of betrayal and abandonment.
So if couples are serious about determining paternity before too much time passes, they certainly can scrape 160 bucks together to make that happen.
