YouTube sensation cousins Sophia Grace Brownlee and Rosie McClelland have taken their fame, appearing on several episodes of The Ellen Degeneres show and gone Hollywood! The young Brit girls from Essex gained viral success with a video of the two performing Nicki Minaj‘s “Superbass“. The precocious duo caught the eye of the popular talk show host who has invited them to appear on her show many times. Since then, the girls have done red carpet interviews with A-list celebrities like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Rihanna, always wearing their signature pink tu-tus and tiaras.
And now they’re taking their stardom to the publishing world!
Their new book “Tea Time with Sophia Grace and Rosie”, as told to Orli Zuravicky, takes readers on a day in the life of tea party planning with the girls. It debuted #2 on the New York Times Best Sellers list for Childrens’ books.
The story is cute and the best parts are the colorful and creative story telling of the actual planning buried in between pages of dialogue between the girls that read like the stream of consciousness of a couple of young children.
Oh wait. Right.
I really enjoyed the illustrations by Shelagh McNicholas as they captured the magical part of the adventure of the party planning.
But the sequencing of the book and the almost verbatim transcription format made it very difficult to follow.
Yet, your little girl (or boy) may enjoy the photos and you can get creative with reading the parts and make it work! Or if you or your little ones are already fans of Sophia Grace and Rosie, they’ll love seeing the girls come to life in this fun book.
