So add Kelly Clarkson to the list of celebrity women who have bucked trend and decided to speak openly about how much pregnancy sort of isn’t a pleasant thing, necessarily all the time. Errr.
The American Idol season one champ and multi-award winning chart topper opened up with Ellen DeGeneres during a recent taping of the show:
“I vomit a good dozen times a day. It’s, like, bad. I vomited before coming out here and I had a peppermint so you didn’t [know],” Clarkson told DeGeneres. “I’m not even kidding, it’s so bad. It’s so bad. I know it’s like so gross. And that’s the thing, too—you’re not attractive when you’re pregnant. Everybody tells you [that] you glow and you’re hair is pretty and you’re nails are pretty. That’s total crap. My nails are short, my hair still falls out like it’s not all lush and beautiful and I have no glow. Unless it’s, like, something left over from a bad throw up. It’s horrible.”
And clearly she is either unfamiliar with or doesn’t care about the age-old rule about not sharing your pregnancy news with the world until after the third month or first trimester is over. That is the time when the baby’s heartbeat can be heard using a doppler and is a sign that it will be viable.
She’s only 11 weeks along! That means she announced it as soon as she found out the news herself! Wow!
Well it is usually thought that excessive vomiting is a sign of plenty hCG hormones, the hormones the body relies on to maintain the pregnancy until the embryo plants itself firmly in the uterine walls and the baby can start receiving its nutrients and life sustaining needs from the umbilical cord and other motherly inside lady parts! Yes, that is the Bellyitch medical explanation for it! ha!
Anyway, the last time the media reported widely about a celebrity not being able to keep food down, we were stalking Kate Middleton in the London hospital and look how that all turned out!
Yay! A prince was born! (smile)
Hang in there Kelly! Hopefully the vomiting will subside soon.
Here is the video of the Ellen segment FYI!
