After three days of spending on consumable goods and services, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and CyberMonday, the philanthropic community has established at the start of the annual holiday season on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving to be “Giving Tuesday. It is a day when families, communities, companies and organizations are encouraged to celebrate and support charitable organizations and engage in activities that encourage donation to good causes.
Giving Tuesday is also a great opportunity for parents to pass on messages about being good civic and civil members of their community, neighborhood and society in general by having their child pick out what charity to give and/or donate to.
● #GivingTuesday unifies charities, corporations, small business, and individuals from across the globe to show that the world gives as good as it gets.
● You don’t have to be a world leader or a billionaire to give back. #GivingTuesday is about ordinary people coming together doing extraordinary things.
● #GivingTuesday is the perfect time for the world to come together and show how powerful humanity can be when we unite to give on one day.
It’s a simple idea, the founders write in the website for the initiative. Just find a way for your family, your community, your company or your organization to come together to give something more. Then tell everyone you can about how you are giving. Be a part of a national celebration of our great tradition of generosity.
