Breast Cancer Survivor Christina Applegate Just Removed Her Ovaries and Fallopian Tubes

Nearly nine years after undergoing a double mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis, mom-of-one Christina Applegate underwent another surgery.

During an appearance on Today, the Bad Moms star, revealed that she had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

“Two weeks ago, I had my ovaries and [fallopian] tubes removed,” she shared. “My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that. That’s how I’ve taken control of everything.”

She added: “It’s a relief. That’s one other thing off the table. Now, let’s hope I don’t get hit by a bus.”

The Married With Children star has the BRCA1 gene mutation, which predisposes her to developing cancer.

Admittedly, the Anchorman actress worries about her 6-year-old daughter Sadie.

“The chances that my daughter is BRCA positive are very high. I look at her and feed her the cleanest foods. I try to keep her stress levels down. I’m doing everything I can on my end knowing that in 20 years, she’ll have to start getting tested,” she shared. “Hopefully by then there will be advancements. It breaks my heart to think that’s a possibility.”

2020 SAG: Red Carpet, Winners and Fashion Rundown

At tonight’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, several of our fave moms featured on the blog in the past were up for a statue in several categories.

Christina Applegate was nominated for her brilliant work in Dead to Me; Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story and JoJo Rabbit, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Charlize Theron for Bombshell and Jennifer Lopez for Hustlers, and Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon for Big Little Lies, Anna Paquin for her role as the older Peggy Sheeran with the cast of The Irishman

Fashion and Red Carpet-wise, we saw a lots of pinks, romantic feminine sheer and chiffon, deep v-cut necklines, and plenty  of very full ball gowns tonight including on Jennifer Garner who presented an award last night.

JLo went with a dark velor gown by Georges Hobeika Couture whilst dropping in Harry Winston diamonds – very Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend Marilyn Monroe-esque.

Johansson was stunning in a satin teal low cut Armani Prive dress.

It was a halter and matching belted Givenchy high waist skirt with center split for Theron.

Witherspoon was giving me pageant glam in this deep cut sequined Celine dress. Gorge!

Nicole Kidman went old Hollywood glam in Michael Kors.

America Ferrera debuted her baby bump for kid number two

Paquin also did voluminous belle of the ball gown.

Last night’s Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California was memorable for historic wins after long absences (Renee Zelleger for and Brad Pitt for after a 16- and 24-year lapse since each last one, respectively) and for notable as speeches (Michelle Williams about female empowerment, SNL‘s Kate McKinnon’s presentation to Ellen DeGeneres of the Carol Burnett Award role in making it easier for a lesbian TV star to shine and Joaquin Phoenix about climate change and the Australian wildfires)

Among the moms featured and “bump watched” before on the blog, Beyonce was nominated for Best Original Song for “Spirit” on The Lion King (and got roasted by a few Twitter for being the only one to not give Phoenix a standing ovation for his win); Christina Applegate for Best Actress in Dead to Me and Nicole Kidman for Big Little Lies and Reese Witherspoon for The Morning Show in the Best Actress in a Television Series-Drama category, and Jennifer Lopez for Best Supporting Actress in Motion Picture for Hustlers.

They’re Like A Lot of Us: 40 Celeb Women Who Had Unwed Pregnancies

Bellyitch Rewind

halle-natalie

About 4 years ago, we blogged about how tons of celebrities welcome babies with men they ar not married to and how they, unlike most women, are not shamed for it.

Several, like Heidi Klum and Kelis break up before the baby is even born. The mention is not to bash different lifestyle choices or situations but just to point out the prevalence of premarital pregnancy in Hollywood.

Of the several dozens women Bellyitch has “bumpwatched” since its inception in 2007, the lion’s share or bulk of them were technically single (though possibly attached or engaged) while pregnant.

Also, to a certain extent, these blessings, each of them, are celebrated and cheered. Meanwhile, average non-celebrity women who have children out-of-wedlock are traditionally trashed, bashed and shamed, by society.
It’s a double standard, no doubt. But alas, these are changing times and traditional notions and norms are altering too.
Here is a list of 40 celebrity women ( from our old post in 2013, there have been many more since then) who got pregnant before going down the aisle, including some that didn’t even want a ring, and some that are still happily single (in no particular order):
1. Kim Kardashian

2. Salma Hayek

3. KimZolciak

4. Amber Rose

5. Victoria Beckham

6. Kelis

7. Emma Bunton

8. Halle Berry

9. Natalie Portman

10. Jennifer Hudson

11. Snooki

12. Lauryn Hill

13. Kristin Cavallari

14. Melanie Brown

15. Heidi Klum

16. Fantasia Barrino

17. Isla Fisher

18. Nia Long

19. Drew Barrymore

20. Yandy Smith

21. Kate Hudson

22. Jill Scott

23. Britney Spears

24. Nicole Richie

25. Kate Winslet

26. Alicia Keys

27. Jessica Simpson

28. Keyshia Cole

29. Michelle Williams

30. Lauren London

31. January Jones

32. Miranda Kerr

REVIEW: Bands of Moms Organized “Bad Moms” Movie Nights this Weekend

13892209_10210128684319589_1649939281767325378_n

This weekend, groups of mom friends across the nation gathered en masse to see the new Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell movie Bad Moms which also stars two other of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums, Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate.

(Moms’ Night Outings included this one and here and even here where someone rented out the entire theater)

The film is about Amy (Kunis), a suburban mom who is married to her college sweetheart, and has two great kids including entitled son Dylan (Emjay Anthony) and an overachieving soccer star daughter, Jane (Oona Laurence) who dreams of getting into an Ivy League school even while still in Middle School.  Amy  is also married to an immature real estate mortgager who is a parenting slacker and leaves Amy to do all the work at home even though she also works part time at a trendy coffee company owned and managed by millennials. At age 32, she is the oldest worker. Oy vey!

SEE TRAILER

As the film begins, Amy relays how she is overwhelmed, underappreciated and constantly late. (We can all relate, well I know I can) Amy has to also battle against meeting up to the high expectations and standards of a trio of perfect moms, led by the PTA President Gwendolyn(Applegate), the Queen B who runs the school, and her sidekick moms Stacy (Pinkett-Smith) and Vicky (Annie Mumolo).

Eventually, she just gives up on trying and befriends frazzled mousey stay-at-home mom KiKi (Bell) and single mom Carla (Kathryn Hahn), the break out star in the film and they cut up.

For a  few days, they sleep in, stop making the kids’ breakfast, skip work, go out to pubs and dance clubs and act out in a supermarket in the most hilarious scene of the film.

That scene is second only to (SPOILER ALERT) the one in a bathroom when Carla and KiKi preps Amy to start dating again after she and her husband take a break from her marriage and Carla uses Kiki to show Amy how to manage an uncircumcised man’s member. It is utter hilarity!

I too attended a Bad Moms outing my law school girlfriend Marcie organized. It included happy hour drinks before (which I missed but borrowed a photo from) and night of dancing at a local concert hall to an 80s cover band after. I’d dare say 98% of our theater was filled with women. There were probably several groups of mom groups out. There was lots of talking, popcorn throwing and cutting up in the theater before and the antics were aplenty.

We all agreed afterwards that we have to go see the movie again because we missed so many lines because we were laughing so hard throughout the film.

And what can you expect when the writer/director of The Hangover, Jon Lucas, was behind the film? There is plenty of raunchy and hypersexualized over-the-top slapstick humor that works and a very generous use of the F-bomb. It is rated R for a reason and you should definitely not think of taking your kids with you to see this.

Again, as I stated above, Hahn is the most memorable. Every line that comes out of her mouth elicited belly laughs. It’s because she doesn’t give a kitty about what others think, is sexually free and liberated and is that ride-or-die pal that has your back. She’s that friend from college who would hold back your pony tail while you hurl in the throne after a wild night out, but who has grown up and is now solo-parenting a 6 feet tall middle school jock kid.

Hahn steals ever scene she is in.

My girl Bell does a phenomenal job as a docile mom with a controlling husband who eventually grows some cohones and stands up to him by the end of the movie. She delivers some zingers that are effective because they are unexpected but delivered with perfect comedic timing.

The movie climaxes as Amy decides to compete with Gwendolyn for PTA President after Gwendolyn does something that negatively impacts Jane.

The movie is The Hangover meets Mean Girls.  It has the usual comedy movie tropes but it is successful.

I recommend you get your mom pals together and organize your own Bad Moms movie outing. The last time I attended a movie that got so many groups of women out was when Sex and The City movie came out. I wasn’t a fan of Fifty Shades so I missed all the Fifty Shades movie night outings.

But Bad Moms is definitely a must-see! Fun times!

2016 Billboards Awards Red Carpet Style, Tho Adele Who Wasn’t There Won the Night

red carpet billboard awards 2016

Bellyitch ‘Bumpwatch’ alums Jessica Alba, Kelly Rowland, Eudoxi Agnan, Ciara, Britney Spears & Idina Menzel at the 2016 Billboard Awards

Sunday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, the 2016 Billboard Music Awards saw some of our fave Bellytich Bumpwatch alums take the pink carpet in some fabulous fashion creations. And as usual, we poked around to discover who wore what.

However,  the night belonged to Adele who took home 5 awards (second to The Weeknd who won 7). She nabbed the Top Artist, Top Billboard 200 Album for “25“, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Selling Song for “Hello” Awards.  She wasn’t even there to accept the award in person because she is on a world tour but she did beam in via satellite.

Two more blog faves, Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell walked the carpet with Kathryn Hahn their co-star from their new TV show Bad Moms. (Which also stars Jada Pinkett Smith and Christina Applegate).

Kunis was in Zuhair Murad couture and Hahn wore an Altuzarra top and skirt. I love loved Bell’s Jonathan Simkhai jumpsuit. So cute!

Another blog regular Kelly Rowland went va va voom, almost too good for the Billboards, in a shimmery, sheer Labourjoisie gown.

Meanwhile, dressed in all black were Bumpwatch alums Jessica Alba businesswoman’s Zuhair Murad dress, Heidi Klum  in  Alfredo Villalba and  Idina Menzel  in a Michael Costello dress (Alba, Klum and Menzel presented awards) with host for the night, rapper Ludacris‘, wife Eudoxie Agnan.

Ludacris’ co-host was the super svelte Ciara who walked the carpet in a very revealing  Phillip Plein gown. Wowza! She did too more sheer and material dresses during her hosting duties.

Britney Spears performed and before rocked the pink carpet in a black lace showgirl outfit dripping in Jacob & Co jewels and Schutz boots.

If you’re looking to look more formal, go with bold and pastel colors or cream mid-length dresses like how Kate Hudson, Christina Applegate,  Jolie, Gwen Stefani and Reese Witherspoon during their respective last pregnancy.

Vintage: Peek inside A Celebrity Parent Swag bag

In addition to getting paid oodles of dough for doing the things they love (acting, singing, reality-showing), celebrities are always getting s.w.a.g which  stands for souveniers, wearables and gifts or as my celebrity friends tell me “stuff/s*&% we all get”. The “we” does not usually include the common man or woman.  In sum, various brands, designers and labels love to throw free products at celebrities because of the instant marketing and promotions they’d get if the celebrity is photographed wearing the product or pushing their child in it, (as in the case of strollers and buggies, for example)
Naturally, being fascinated with celebrities like most Americans and others are, folks covet what celebrities have and want to rush out and get the same thing. It’s a no brainer for a brand to get their stuff in one of these bags.
Often times, when celebrities agree to attend a charity event, or are selected to present at an awards show or perform, they get these enormous very valuable gift bags as a thank you.  Sometimes, companies actually have to bid or compete to get their products in the bag. Imagine, having to hire a publicist or agent to get your company’s product in a bag of items to be given away for free! Companies like Jewels and Pinstripes, for example, assemble bags for various events and then scan print and websites for “sightings” of the celebrities actually using the product they got in a bag. What comes next? The brand gets that photo out there and the rest is history, as they say.
Pregnant celebrities and parents also get parenting and children related swag at various gifting suites that are open during and pre major events like The Grammys, The Oscars, The Sundance Film festivals etc. During these events, select brands send representatives to showcase products (its almost convention style) and often times  they give away free samples! Sometimes they permit the celeb to rent the item or wear it for an event with the expectation of returning it.  That is usually the case for gowns and dresses for major events the celeb would likely wear only once anyway.  For smaller, less expensive items, celebrities are allowed to keep the items! Woweee!
If you are fortunate enough to be the baby of a celebrity, the perks start when you are born!
Check out a gift bag  (above) that  Girls in Tinsel Town  gave away to the babies of new celeb moms like Christina Applegate, Emily Procter and Samantha Harris.
The bag contained: Gift certificate for custom Isabelle Grace Jewelry mommy necklace, Gift certificate for Kokopax classic carrier, Gift certificate for Kokopax Diaper Bag, The Patchwork Bear baby clothes bear box kit, Ladybugs and Lullabies boutique hair clips and gift certificate, Diapees and Wipees shoulder bag and signature bag, Gift certificate for personalized Label Out Loud™ Essentials Combo by Mabel’s Labels, Pirose luxury nursing scarf by Reno Rose, Blackout blind for prams and strollers by SnoozeshadeBeba Bean Knit Poncho, Robeez Ballerina Bear slip-ons, Gift certificate for personalized Name Your Tune cd, BooginheadSippiGrip and PaciGrip and an issue of Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine. (Retail Value: $900.00)
