30+ Celebrity-inspired Costumes

Take a stroll back to Halloween 2014 and check out all the celebrity -inspired Halloween costumes of the past, some celebrity parents and their kids, and some celebrity-inspired costumes such as these two babies dressed as Beyoncé and Jay Z in front of the portrait of Mona Lisa as during the couple’s Paris visit this fall.

Meanwhile, the actual Carters went as The Jacksons, Janet and Michael.

Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and North West inspired this duo’s costume. Fun!

The Real Kim and North paid homage to Vogue editors with Kim dressed as editor in chief Anna Wintour, North as editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley and friends dressed as the creative director who decided to put Kimye on the cover Grace Coddington with another toddler dressed as designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Celeb Mom Instagram Update (PHOTOS)

We follow your fave celeb mom in social media so you don’t have to, thus alas, here is tonight’s rundown on some of the celeb moms we have covered in the past as told by their social media shares, including a new photo of Gwen Stefani who is in Jamaica and got a chance to meet my fave reggae artist when I was a child, the great Jimmy Cliff. Wow! Amazing!

Two of our alums Rasheeda and Monica met up recently when Rasheeda’s son Karter attended Monica’s daughter Laiyah’s 2nd birthday party in Atlanta.

Ivanka Trump is abroad in Italy and dancing, one more time.

Devious Maids star Dania Ramirez was out with her twins in LA last week.

Fellow Virgo Rachel Zoe was showing off the fab gifts her husband Rodger Berman gifted her. The celeb stylist-turned designer became 44 on September 1.

New 2nd-time mom Milla Jovovich is back on the set of the newest Resident Evil movie.

Two more alums: Kelly Rowland was wishing former Destiny’s Child bandmate Beyoncé a happy birthday. Bey turned 34 on Friday.

Lil Kim is a blonde again.

Kourtney Kardashian is promoting a waist trainer, the secret to her new super svelte figure? maybe!?

2015 VMA Awards Red Carpet & Show Roundup

Tonight was another celeb-studded musical event at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Several of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums graced the red carpet before the event, took the stage and were nominated for quite a few awards.

Mega star Beyonce Knowles Carter was a no show even though she was nominated for 5 awards for her “7/11” Video (Best Female, Pop, Editing, Choreography, Video of the Year). She won only one for Best Editing.

Jennifer Hudson couldn’t make it either despite being up for the Best Video with a social message award for her song, “I Still Love You.”

On the red carpet, model Lily Aldridge stunned in a black Alexandre Vauthier couture gown with a plunging neckline, Stuart Weitzman shoes, Jen Meyer Jewelry earrings, Anita Ko bracelets, and an Edie Parker clutch.

Britney Spears showed mucho cleavage in a showgirls-esque gold sequined number with cutouts in the tummy.

Kim Kardashian West covered her bump in a long sleeve draped military style dress.

Her sis Kourtney Kardashian was giving up the sexy in a hot pink jumpsuit, fresh off of winning our 2015 Posh Mom Icon award.

Their family’s arch nemeses Amber Rose and Blac Chyna came dressed in matching nude outfits with cartoon caricture lettering featuring all the insulting names that people have called the duo who are headed for an MTV reality TV show this fall.

The show wasn’t without its dramatic moments, of course, including some toxic exchanges between show host Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj who won the Best Rap Video Award for video for “Anaconda“. It was the same video Minaj suggested was deserving for being up for the Video of the Year Award but was slighted because she felt the women featured in the video weren’t thin. Taylor Swift assumed it was a slam against her given all the women in her Bad Blood video were pretty much rail thin and the two had a brief Twitter beef which reeled their fans in on it and was more or less squashed until Cyrus added her two cents during a promo appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Cyrus said Minaj was “not nice”. The rest is history and can be seen on Twitter but since we’re about promoting positivity by and among women, we’ll leave it at that.

Ciara showed off a new bob in a fringed black outfit and Law and Order‘s Mariska Hargitay made an appearance in all black while walking with the other members of “The #SwiftSquad” from Taylor Swift‘s “Video of the Year” winning video “Bad Blood.”

My fave look for tonight came from singer Tori Kelly who looked stunning in a a laced long sleeved top tucked in a cute pair of high waisted shorts with a gold clutch and black bowed pumps, with tussled hair to complete the look. Her bronze sheer makeup was flawless. Yassss!

Celebrity Couples whose Union Didn’t Survive Their Baby’s First Birthdays

US Weekly reports that Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have split after 11 years together.

It is the latest in a slate of high-profile celeb break ups this summer including Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale, Sienna Miller and Tom Sturridge, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton.

Break ups are sad and we’ve notice that in the 7 years that Bellyitch Blog has been in existence, a substantial amount of celebrity women who we have had on our “bumpwatch” list have broken up with their respective significant others.

Some broke up before the baby was even born: Christina Milian, Kelis, Heidi Klum and January Jones,and many more split with their respective hubby/baby daddies before they even gave birth.

Last year, Ciara, Eva Marcille (nee Pigford), and Amber Rose split with their partners before each of their baby’s turned 6 months old. The separations have been messy, still. A few years ago, Selma Blair and her ex Jason Bleick split up 14 months after welcoming their first child together.

Others we’ve covered who have called it quits include: The Jamie Foxx show actress Garcelle Beauvais, TV host Padma Lakshmi from Top Chef, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Freeman from My Wife and Kids, Lauryn Hill, Kimora Lee Simmons (Djimon Hounsou days), Hilary Duff, Fantasia, Halle Berry, Jill Scott, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lyn Spears, Lauren London, Monyetta Shaw (NeYo’s ex), Golden Brooks from “Girlfriends”.

At this point, it’s probably safer to start chronicling those who are still together because they are the new exception, not the rule in Hollywood, it seems. But hey, so long as everyone is happier and better off apart and the off-springs are co-parented well with little to minimum drama, right?

No judgment from us, okay. We’re just pointing out the trends and facts. Just the facts, ma’am, just the facts! (*smirk*)

New Celeb Moms Introduce their New Babies on Instagram (and some old ones too)

The world got to meet a bunch of new babies born to celebrities this week and in in recent weeks when their parents shared photos of them on Instagram.

Some vet parents used the social media photo sharing platform to also share other moments of their little ones’ lives.

Musicians Brandon Jenner wife Leah welcome a baby girl LA Times

Musicians Brandon and Leah Jenner welcomed their first child on July 22, a daughter the couple named Eva James.

Leah, who is one half of the Indie pop duo, announced the news on her Instagram on Sunday:

“On Wednesday, July 22nd I became a Mom. It has without a doubt been the most profoundly beautiful time in my life but also emotionally, spiritually and physically challenging too….and I am so grateful for every second of it. Brandon and I are taking care of our healthy, little baby girl, Eva James Jenner,” she wrote.

The new addition will have as playmates, the children of their dad’s half siblings: Reign, Mason and Penelope, children of Kourtney Kardashian, and North West and her soon-to-be born baby brother, kids of Kim Kardashian.

Eva’s other cousins’ grandad was Bruce Jenner who has since become Caitlyn Jenner so…this means Eva James is the first to have three grandmoms (???) Brandon’s mom Linda Thompson and Leahs’ mom Susan Felder and Caitlyn Jenner.

Congrats to the growing family!

Columnist begs parents to Quit it with Odd Spellings of Common Baby Names

Are you one of those parents who, when deciding on a name for your baby before he or she was born, wanted something very unique?

So even though you liked “Madison” as a name, you decided to help her stand out by spelling it “Madicyn” or like “Madyson” or “Madisyn”

Or are you that parent who skipped on the tradition spelling of Brittney and opted for “Brittny”, “Brittneigh”, “Brit’nee”, “Britany” or “Bryttney”?

Maybe, Chase was too blah so you opted for “Chace” or “Chayce”?

Caden too? Boring. How about “Kaden” or “Kaeden”, “Caidyn” or “Cayden”?

Turn a simple biblical name like Isaiah on its head and you’ve got” Isah”, “Isaieh”, “Isaah” or “Izaiah”

A couple of the Kardashians are named Khloe instead of Chloe and Kourtney instead of Courtney because their parents wanted all the first names to start with the first letter of their last name.

It’s cute, but did you take it one step further and turned Chloe into “Kloey”?

Flip Jacqueline around and you’ve got “Jaq’leen”.

Speaking of parenthesis and hyphens.

One New York City teacher listed the most unique names she had ever come across on her roster:

Somaily (Sa miley), Dimmamelle (Dimel), Joedan (Jordan), Sha-Niyhah (Shania), Jerleek, Shaqueena and Marqwell. She called them HR nightmare names. Pity that is coming from a teacher though.

These are the unique names that author and New York Times columnist Paul Schmidtberger complained about in a May 7, 2010 piece.

In it he writes that “parents shouldn’t impose cryptic, incoherent or foolish spellings on their own children, nor on society as a whole.”

Schmidtberger goes on to say parents will “condemn their children to a lifetime of bleakly repeating that, no, the name in question is spelled “Shaiyahne” not “Cheyenne.”

Sounds a bit curmudgeonly to me. But I say this as a person with an African name Jeneba that I always have had to repeat, carefully spell and correct people’s punctuation of, most of my life. My husband who is named Dave and not David has to constantly tell people that no he wasn’t just giving them a nickname when he told them his name.

Yet, our first kid, who we named Caleb, is not pronounced like the traditional way but slightly different. You’d think we had learned a lesson from what we went thru growing up always correcting folks. ha!

We just liked the name but didn’t care for going with Caleb with a K because we just didn’t want to. Really it was right after 9/11 and didn’t want him to accidentally end up on a no-fly list.

But what’s it to anyone, really?

However, does Schmidtberger have a point? Should parents stick with the traditional spelling of names?

“Misspelling a child’s name won’t make Junior special, creative or unique,” the New Jersey native writes.” Y’s and I’s are not interchangeable, and apostrophes are not some sort of newfangled confetti to be sprinkled liberally throughout groups of letters.”

Guide to style of most fashionable celebrity kids

Certain celebrity children have distinctive styles of their own. Whether it is selected for them by their uber fashion-conscious parents like North West or a product of their own eclectic individuality as we see with Willow Smith, there is no doubt they are and can be trend setters.

Today, we break down some of the most talked about celebrity kids whose fashion aesthetic are highly desirable.

Nori West – This tiny tyke can be seen on the front rows of all the couture fashion shows from London to Milan to New York. Most recently, the only child of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had jaws flapping over her $3500 fur coat at New York Fashion Week. Her color of choice: black, black and more black.

THE INSPIRATION LOOK:

Kingston Rosdale: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale‘s oldest son has that casual boho South Cal look down to a tee. He’s known for his spiky mohawks, seersucker jackets, graphic tees and high top sneaks. Kingston is a Santa Monica skater dude and Aspen skiing kid all in one.

THE INSPIRATION LOOK:

Blue Ivy Carter – This 3-year old is richer than most kids her age yet she has a cute typical toddler style of dress. Blue can be seen in age-appropriate frocks, while barefoot on the beach or in some ballet slippers at one of mom Beyonce‘s special fancy events. This globe-trotting jet setter looks a lot like dad Sean Jay Z Carter.

THE INSPIRATION LOOK:

Willow Smith – This free spirited rocker child of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith has a singing and acting career and is so over school. She has the best individual style and doesn’t follow any trends but rather can be seen setting them in her Monster High lace up boots, leopard shawls, colorful arm gloves, ripped jeans and wild hair. Whether cropped and purple, mohawked or whipped, Willow has experimented with it all.

Mason Disick – This preppy tot is the apple of mom Kourtney Kardashian and dad Scott Disick‘s eye. He’s mischievous and playful and can be seen playing hide and seek on TV in nautical boat shoes, smart vests and straw hats. When out and about, Mason looks comfortable in khaki shorts and doesn’t seem to squirm when outfitted in a collared shirt and a bow tie. He’s quite the stylish little boy. His style is akin to Skylar Berman, Rachel Zoe and Rodger Berman‘s kid.
