The cast already includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Ed Helms and Isla Fisher, but a trio of new talents have just been added to Lionsgate’s ensemble pregnancy-based romantic comedy What to Expect When You’re Expecting. Based on the best-selling guidebook of the same name, the film focuses on five different couples dealing with the forthcoming arrival of a child in their lives. The lovelyAnna Kendrick and the stunning Brooklyn Decker (Just Go With It) have both been added to the roster of pregnant women while Chris Rock has landed a role outside of the pregnant couples who are the focus of the film.
Deadline revealed that Kendrick will play Rosie, a woman who reunites with an old flame and fellow food-truck owner and becomes pregnant, and Decker will play the perky wife of a much older man who sails through her pregnancy with twins, much to the consternation of her friends. Meanwhile another report says Rock will play the head of a group of expectant fathers who lectures them on what it’s really like to have a baby and become a father. Having Rock take that role just seems like a gimmick for some quick laughs, but he just might make this film that much more tolerable.
