Bellyitch Blog founder and editor in chief, JJ, is in New York City this weekend for the annual BlogHer conference which features sessions, exhibits, promos, parties and events targeting women bloggers.
The weekend culminated with a LIVE video address from United States President Barack Obama, who obviously recognizes the value and influence of women who make up nearly half of all bloggers nationwide and are key decision makers. It was a campaign address and the only one to a blogging conference this year. Woman power!
There is great diversity of bloggers from all backgrounds, ethnic and racial groups here and who cover everything from family, to parenthood, to politics, to photography, to food, to celebrities, to lifestyle. You name it and women are blogging about it.
|At a smaller BlogHer Expo Hall, brands reach out to women bloggers and share products and services. There is a larger hall upstairs that opens Friday.|
Over the next few days, sessions will cover topics such as content development, SEO and analytics monitoring, bootstrapping Book promotions, blog design, dealing with copyright issues, making an app, media training for bloggers, political, professional and technical blogging tips and techniques, vlogging, podcasting, writing and a large variety of other topics from experts in the field. Also, several brands and companies are hosting private parties, socials and cocktail hours all across the city. There is a writing suite and a tech suite with experts providing advice and tips. Finally, several brands are hosting suites and some even have swag suites where participants can come through and pick up promotional items FREE just like the celebrities do!
The conference is one of several dozen blogging conferences that go on worldwide each year. Some target food, travel, dad, lifestyle, design, military and a wife variety of other topics.
BlogHer is the largest women blogging conference with 5000 attendees this year and 130 sponsors.
Fun times! If you are a blogger and at BlogHer this year, look for JJ or tweet at her at @JJGhatt. She is much shorter than she appears online (so people have said) and on good days…um in her car…where she takes Vanity pics, she looks like this:
Ha! Tell her we said to say hello!
