Princess Madeleine of Sweden reveals she’s having a girl

It’s a girl!

Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her husband, American business man Christopher O’Neill will be welcoming their first child, a daughter, together on February 25, Swedish lifestyle magazine Svensk Damtidning reported.

The couple announced last September, approximately 12 weeks following their wedding, that they were expecting a honeymoon baby.

Last December 19, she joined her family at a gala in Stokholm to celebrate her mom Queen Silvia‘s 70th birthday wearing the Amelia Tiffiany Rose gown in royal blue, of course! It’s the same dress featured on our model in our Bellyitch 100 eBook but in Rose.

She was pictured in a UK Daily Mail story of the event with the her sister Princess Victoria who we “bumpwatched” when she was expecting her first child in 2011.

Study: Teen Pregnancy Reality TV shows reduced teen pregnancy rate

Reality television shows helped reduce teen pregnancy and abortions in the United States, a new study in this month’s National Bureau of Economic Research concludes.

The research discovered that between 2009, when cable network MTV debuted 16 and Pregnant and the end of 2010, there was a 5.7% drop in teen births of babies that “would have been conceived” and teen abortions.

The authors monitored Nielsen ratings data, tweets about the show and Google searches for the show to discover spikes in online searches for terms like “birth control” or “abortion” precisely “at the time a new episode was released.

This analysis led researchers to find that the shows “had an influence on teens’ thinking regarding birth control and abortion,” Economists Melissa S. Kearney of the University of Maryland and Phillip B. Levine of Wellesley College, authors of the study, said

In 2012, the US teen birth was at a 2.94% rate (29.4 out of every 1,000 girls between 15 and 19), which is high for a “developed” nation. Nonetheless, the US has seen a significant drop in its overall teen birth rate since 1991 when it was 61.8 births per 1,000.

Celeb Moms Rock People’s Choice Awards Red Carpet (PHOTOS)

Last night, at the People’s Choice Awards held January 8, LIVE at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, Califrornia, many of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch moms of the past graced the red carpet looking amazing.

Here are those we spotted:

Jennifer Hudson stole the night with her moving speech accepting the Humanitarian award for a charity she founded after her mother, brother and nephew were gunned down in Chicago. Before that moment, she wowed in a white fitted Kaufmanfranco dress from the Spring 2014 line and some cute sandals with perfected understated matted lips. It matched well with her new pixie cut and bronzed eye shadow. Perfect!

Britney Spears was a big winner last night, walking away with a Favorite Female Performer, Favorite Pop Singer and Fan Music Favorite awards. She looked sizzling hot in a nude with black embroidered accent Mikael D dress from the designers’ Fall 2013 line

Malin Akerman was showing off the girls in a Cushnie Et Ochs Spring 2014 dress with an interesting window peephole front in the bodice. Not feeling it much. But the mary janes on her feet are rocking.

Heidi Klum did it again in another over-the-top look this time by Giorgio Armani from his Fall 2013 collection. She went with Christian Louboutin heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. No comment.

Anna Faris looked absolutely stunning in a fitted sheer nude floor-length Naeem Khan top and skirt set. She walked the carpet with hubby Chris Pratt.

Jessica Alba did Winter White as well in a fitted Jason Wu bandage dress with gold accents and white Casadei pumps with Jennifer Meyer jewels. She definitely was on the best dressed list this round.

Sarah Michelle Gellar donned a Sachin + Babi dress which looked elegant though looked a bit too matronly for the youngish actress. Similarly the Jimmy Choo heels were safe and a bit underwelming. She accented the black and white ensemble with Neil Lane jewels.

Sandra Bullock looked amazing in a Peter Pilotto Resort 2014 embroidered overlay dress. The parted hair was a winner and her neutral makeup flawless. Gawgeous, Sandy!

Emily Deschanel in a BCBGMAXAZRIA dress accented by Miss Delicious shoes, House of Lavande earrings, Swarovski ring and an Edie Parke clutch. Cute. Can we have the shoes?

Melissa Joan Hart’s hair, make up looked gorgeous. The Swarvoski earrings were on point, matched with an Oroton clutch. She’s catching flak today for her strapless asymmetrical El Lay dress which isn’t really bad at all. It’s colorful and stands out, works with her shape and has people talking. Last fall, she released a book “Melissa Explains it All” which detailed heavy drug use and random hook-ups with celeb co-stars. Oh my! These Disney stars boy!

Mom to be Drew Barrymore won a Spring 2014 Vionnet dress which lacked shape and had her lookgin boxy. Barrymore joked on stage, while giving out the award for Favorite Comedic movie, about Ellen DeGeneres calling her fat as a joke. Barrymore is expecting her second child with hubby Will Kopelman.

Donald Faison and Cacee Cobb’s son Rocco wins fave Hollywood baby name contest

We asked Bellyitch Readers to pick among the bevy of unique names celebrities who gave birth this year gave their babies and to select the rock star/Hollywood name they liked best.

Readers loved the name ROCCO best!

That is the name comedic actor Donald Faison and wife CaCee Cobb gave their son, born August 15, 2013.

His name beat out the one Cacee’s best friend Jessica Simpson and her husband NFL‘s Eric Johnson named their kid Ace Knute. Rocco also bested North West, daughter to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West; Axl Jack, Fergie and Josh Duhamel‘s son, and even actress Kate Winslet’s son Bear.

With a dad whose last name is RockNRoll, we were just certain he’d win!

Oh well.

We get it. It’s cute but has to grow on folks.

10 tips for this winter’s play outdoors

With rising childhood obesity rates and the increasing illnesses that accompany a sedentary lifestyle, it’s no secret that kids should be encouraged to get outside and engage in active play. As the lower temperatures approach, so does cold and flu season, which can be greatly exacerbated when kids are held indoors where germs can easily be spread through respiratory droplets and exhalations. Keeping kids safe while they’re out in the cold, however, is an absolute necessity. The following guidelines can help you ensure that your kids’ activity levels don’t suffer at the onset of winter and that they stay safe until the spring thaw rolls around.

Use Sunscreen – Protecting kids’ skin from the damaging rays of the sun is a major priority for most parents and caregivers during the summer months, but one that often falls to the wayside when temperatures cool down. In fact, the reflection of the sun off of snow and ice can be almost as damaging as direct exposure. Make sure that your youngsters are slathered with sunscreen before they hit the outdoors.
Waterproof Clothing is Key – Keeping kids warm during the winter chill relies heavily upon your ability to keep them dry. Melting ice and snow can leave most fabrics wet, soggy and very cold. Make sure that you invest in some waterproof or water-resistant clothing and shoes, especially proper boots.
Know the Signs of Frostbite – Frostbite occurs when your child’s skin or extremities are literally frozen. The nose, ears, fingers, cheeks and toes are most commonly affected, and it can be quite dangerous when these extremities suffer from frostbite. Signs of superficial frostbite include itching, numbness, tingling or burning sensations. The affected skin may become white, flushed, yellow or blue and appear frozen, and will be cold to the touch.
Dress for Success – Just because your kids are bundled against the cold doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re wearing safe clothing. Hoods and hats don’t take the place of helmets for activities like biking or skating, while tight clothing that restricts movement can present a danger as it inhibits kids’ ability to move and balance properly. Be sure that your brood is dressed appropriately for outdoor play, not just for cold temperatures.
Insist on Warm-Up Breaks – When kids are enjoying themselves and are particularly absorbed in an activity, it’s easy for them to lose track of time. That’s why it’s important for you to insist on periodic warm-up breaks to check for signs of hypothermia or frostbite and ensure that they don’t get too cold.
Keep Ice Skating Safe – Ice skating is a beloved, time-honored cold-weather outdoor activity. It can also be quite dangerous, though. Public areas designated for ice skating are far safer than ponds or bodies of water on your own property, which may not be thoroughly frozen and could crack under kids’ weight. Be sure that any ice your children are going to skate on is frozen solid, and that they’re wearing the right protective gear.
Smart Sledding – Racing down a snow-covered hill on a sled is one of life’s great thrills, even for adults. Kids love sledding, but it’s important that they understand the basic safety rules before setting out. Sledding down hills that terminate near a road, down paths that have obstacles like jumps, rocks or bumps, or down icy slopes are all sledding safety no-nos. Kids should also never be pulled on sleds behind moving vehicles of any kind.
Don’t Forget About Dehydration – Dehydration isn’t a concern reserved solely for warm-weather months. While your children are enjoying a session of outdoor play, be sure that they’re taking in plenty of fluids.
Scarf Safety – Scarves are useful tools for protecting against the cold, as they can be wrapped around almost any part of the body that feels cold. However, they can also become ensnared in moving parts of toys or overhanging branches, closed in doors, or otherwise tangled in a manner that presents a strangulation risk. It’s better to opt for cowl-style scarves until kids are a bit older and less rambunctious.
Double-Check Equipment – Making sure that any equipment for outdoor play, whether new or old, is in good condition, fits properly and is otherwise suitable for use before sending kids outside with it. Damaged or broken equipment can very easily cause injuries, especially if kids are using them improperly to compensate for the damage.

Bumpwatch: Gwen Stefani has become the most photographed pregnant US celebrity (PHOTOS)

Now that other high profile celebrity mamas like Kim Kardashian and Kate Middleton have had their highly prized and coveted first born kids, back home in the US, it seems all pap lenses have turned to No Doubt front woman Gwen Stefani.

The 40 -something clothing and shoe designing mom-to-be has been photo-stalked everyday since she announced that she and her husband Bush guitarist/frontman Gavin Rossdale are expecting their third child together. The couple is parents to 7-year old Kingston and 5-year old Zuma already.

So, the fabulously fly and awesomely chic business woman was spotted shopping in Studio City on December 12, Christmas shopping on December 17, getting Acupuncture treatment on December 18 and Out and about on December 20. (see above)

And taking her kid to a playdate on December 21, taking her kids out for ice cream on December 22, and again out and about with them on December 26 and again on December 27, with barely a break for Christmas, though she was photographed at Christmas eve mass the day before.

Stefani and fam are currently enjoying a ski vacay in the mountains of Mammoth, California and of course, with ample photogs in tow to capture all the glory.

Happy New Year: Bellyitch Blog 2013 Year in Review

We had quite the productive year here at Bellyitch in 2013.

Celebrity Pregnancy

Trends

This year marked some of the most anticipated pregnancies of

a long while, in particular, that of Duchess Catherine of Cambridge, the

former Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William. Up until confirmation

of the pregnancy in December 2012, she

was among the list of celebrities who were constantly

falsely reported in the media as being pregnant. (Jennifer Aniston still

holds the distinction of being the most pregnant in the media).

Shortly following that announcement, in

February, Fergie, another celebrity often

accused of being pregnant when ever she eats too much sushi and wears a tight

shirt to the paparazzi-infested Grove, announced her pregnancy. Thank goodness. Enough false reports.

But no other celebrity caused as much furor than Kim

Kardashian, the American reality-TV star, actress and business woman who many

love to hate. She still boasts the most fans (including hater fans) and is widely adored along with the rest of her Kardashian

family clan.

This year was also the year of the America’s Next Top Model

pregnancies. Cycle 3 finalist YaYa

DeCosta Alafia, and winner Eva

(Pigford) Marcille; Cycle 4’s

Cassandra Jean and Cycle 5 contestant and All Star winner Lisa

D’Amato were all pregnant with their first child each.
