The mom to 2-year old son Camen
Instagrammed the above cover image preview of the magazine with the caption: “Baby girl Lachey’s first cover! Well, sort of! Thank you American Baby for this fun cover and opportunity to share some stuff with my fellow Mamas! #VanessaAmericanBaby ❤️ “
Inside the issue, the former MTV‘s Total Request LIVE! host offers some sage advice as a veteran mom to new first-time mothers and parents.
The former Miss Teen USA recommends that moms be patient with their baby’s and to cherish the moment.
“As a baby, Camden would take about an hour to breastfeed,” adding ” by the time he finished, it was almost time to feed again. A friend reminded me that infants are learning everything for the first time. So who am I to say, “Hurry up and eat. We have to go?” I tried to look at that time as an opportunity to love on him.”
She also opened up about not feeling connected to her son Camden while in utero but wondering if there was something wrong with her, but finally feeling connected when she learned of the baby’s gender.
” I’ve wanted this my whole life, and I’m forcing myself to have those feelings,” she said she thought of her odd feelings, “For me, the love really flowed when I found out the baby was a boy. That’s when I could finally bond, once I knew ‘it’ was a him.”
Lachey, who has been married to ex 98 Degrees boy band member musician and TV host Nick Lachey, said once her son was born, she learned that not knowing it all was part of parenting, and she calmed down.
She also advised new first-time-parents to resist comparing themselves to others.
“With social media, people share mostly their best moments,” Vanessa Lachey shared. “Don’t feel like you’re not doing enough when you see a mom posting about making applesauce after you bought it. Ha ha! It’s fine! Just for raising a little human being you should be commended.”
Great advice all around!
