Jaime King covers ‘American Baby’, Talks Pregnant Women Body Shaming

Hart of Dixie actress Jaime King covers the August issue of American Baby magazine.

In it, she discusses body shaming of pregnant women:

“Pregnancy is the ultimate symbol of womanhood, beauty and sensuality, so make it a celebration of creating life. You don’t have to hide anything or try to suck in your belly. Why not put on things that are tighter, flashier, or more fun? Wearing formfitting clothes totally counteracts that voice inside of us that says, ‘Ugh, I just want to lie down all day and sleep,” the former teen and adult model explains. “I feel it’s really important to feel good about yourself, and fashion is part of that.”

She says people (probably in social media) have told her she needs to go eat a sandwich because she is perceived as being too thin.

“All that matters is that you’re taking care of the nutrition for yourself and your child,” she responds back relating to the critics. “Don’t let other people get you down, and don’t put other women down, either.”

King, who has selected Taylor Swift to be the Godmother of her soon-to-be born daughter, says she enjoys “every part” of being a mom and being pregnant especially given the fact it took her 7 yeas to get pregnant having suffered with endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome.

King welcomed her first child, son, Jaime Knight on October 6, 2013. This will be her second child with husband movie director and producer Kyle Newman.

This Friday, American Baby released its July issue featuring on the cover The Real TV host Tamera Mowry-Housley who is expecting her second child, a daughter, this July.

Last week in advance of the release, Mowry-Housley took readers of her blog  behind the scenes of the cover photo shoot.

About the experience, she writes:

I couldn’t have been happier with the shoot day. I got to get all dolled up (I feel so sexy and powerful during pregnancy), loved working with their team (they made me so comfortable), and shared about what being a parent is really all about. I touched on some of what having Aden has taught me in my Mother’s Day post, but dove a little deeper in the magazine’s piece

Nice. Check out the article in the online or traditional version of the magazine. She, her husband FOX news correspondent Adam Housley and their two and a half year old son Aden will welcome the new addition next month in July.

Vanessa Lachey covers American Baby, offers advice to first-time parents

Second time mom-to-be Vanessa Lachey covers the December 2014/January 215 edition of American Baby magazine.
The mom to 2-year old son Camen Instagrammed the above cover image preview of the magazine with the caption: “Baby girl Lachey’s first cover! Well, sort of! Thank you American Baby for this fun cover and opportunity to share some stuff with my fellow Mamas! #VanessaAmericanBaby ❤️ “
Inside the issue, the former MTV‘s  Total Request LIVE! host offers some sage advice as a veteran mom to new first-time mothers and parents.
The former Miss Teen USA  recommends that moms be patient with their baby’s and to cherish the moment.
“As a baby, Camden would take about an hour to breastfeed,” adding ” by the time he finished, it was almost time to feed again. A friend reminded me that infants are learning everything for the first time. So who am I to say, “Hurry up and eat. We have to go?” I tried to look at that time as an opportunity to love on him.”
She also opened up about not feeling connected to her son Camden while in utero but wondering if there was something wrong with her, but finally feeling connected when she learned of the baby’s gender.
” I’ve wanted this my whole life, and I’m forcing myself to have those feelings,” she said she thought of her odd feelings, “For me, the love really flowed when I found out the baby was a boy. That’s when I could finally bond, once I knew ‘it’ was a him.”
Lachey, who has been married to ex 98 Degrees boy band member musician and TV host Nick Lachey, said once her son was born, she learned that not knowing it all was part of parenting, and she calmed down.
She  also advised new first-time-parents to resist comparing themselves to others.
“With social media, people share mostly their best moments,” Vanessa Lachey shared.  “Don’t feel like you’re not doing enough when you see a mom posting about making applesauce after you bought it. Ha ha! It’s fine! Just for raising a little human being you should be commended.”
Great advice all around!
