In a relationship, a great deal of importance is placed on the wedding day. The whole ordeal is full of romance and showing your significant other, and the loved ones celebrating with you, how much your care. For many couples, somewhere down the road, those gestures and showings of love become less and less. It’s important to express love for our partners each and every day, and even more important (and fun) to do so when celebrating the anniversary of your wedding.
Whether it’s a romantic date, a weekend getaway or a sweet gesture, there are a variety of ways to commemorate your love on your anniversary.
1. Old School Traditions
If you are a traditional person, check out this list of yearly anniversary gifts to give your spouse. As you progress in your marriage you can look back on each year’s gift with fondness and look forward to each milestone ahead. From paper to diamonds, each passing year brings another symbolic gift. The best part of this traditional gift giving is that they can be customizable to fit your relationship and partner.
2. Incorporating Fun
Do you and your husband enjoy being silly and fun together? Incorporate that into your gift. You can create a scavenger hunt that leads them to places that spark memories from the past year or hold sentimental value in your relationship that all lead him to you for a special night out, or gift exchange. No time for an elaborate hunt around town? Create a personalized word puzzle or double puzzle that tells them where to find you instead.
3. Create Adventures
Each year, for your anniversary, plan a fun trip for the two of you. Whether it’s a quick escape a few hours away from home or an international excursion. Take time to getaway, just the two of you. At the conclusion of your trip, start talking about where you will go next year. This will not only give you some time alone, as a married couple, but also keep you excited and act as a gentle reminder of your love throughout the next year as you plan your upcoming anniversary trip.
4. Relive Your Wedding Dinner
Looking to stay closer to home? Pull out that old wedding planning book and set out to recreate aspects from the night. Whether it is a playlist of your must-have songs for the DJ, an evening at home recreating your wedding menu or just cuddling on the couch looking through photos and videos of your wedding day, spend some time together and remember the day that you two became husband and wife.
5. 52 Reasons
Give him the gift of knowing why it is you love him so. Create a 52 Reasons I Love You booklet and give it to him to use as a weekly reminder of why he’s the one for you for now and forever.
6. Make a Public Showing
Let the whole world know you love your husband with a big, public display of affection (and no, not by sitting on the park bench and making out). Talk to your local billboard company to purchase a temporary billboard display with a customized message for your husband. Have it placed on his route to work so he is sure to see it. Call in to his favorite radio show and give a special shout out to him on your anniversary, but make sure he plans to tune in when you do it. Or, leave him a special message on the jumbo-tron for his favorite sports team.
