Speaking of Beyonce being pregnant, did you know that she pioneered the red carpet celebrity pregnancy announcement?
From covering celebrity pregnancy for close to 10 years, I have institutional memory in this area. Bellyitch was one of the first site’s to declare that the “bump watch” origin was Demi Moore’s iconic August 1991 Vanity Fair cover. Since then, others have accepted that assessment.
A little while ago, I noticed that after Beyonce famously announced her pregnancy by cupping her belly on the red carpet of the 2011 MTV Music Awards, other celebrities have chosen to quietly let the world know they are expecting using that non-verbal gesture.
Of course, she is not the first one to break pregnancy news while talking to entertainment reporters on the chain line, but since she did it, Marion Cotillard, Gwen Stefani, Amber Rose, Kerry Washington, and others chose to confirm rumors and let the world know they were expecting on the red carpet.
I welcome anyone who will prove to me otherwise. Hit me up on Twitter or Instagram or Facebook @Bellyitch! 🙂
I was at the movies over the weekend and I saw 2nd time mom-to-be Marion Cotillard in the movie poster for the upcoming Assasin’s Creed movie.
It was like just yesterday that she was making the rounds promoting her film with Brad Pitt, Allied.
Now, she is back at it. This time attending promotional events for her role in Cesar Revelations 2017′ at the Salon Chaumet on January 16, 2017 in Paris, France.
In December, she worked the red carpet at the Paris Photocall for Assassin’s Creed at Hotel Bristol on December 5, 2016 in Paris, France.
I love it when I see expecting moms stay on their grind!
Cotillard and and her long time partner actor director Guillaume Canet are expecting their second child later this year. They have a 5-year old son, Marcel together.
We are always happy to see when moms-to-be defeat the stereotype of the laid up pregnant woman. A lot of the celebrities we feature while pregnant spend a lot of their pregnancy during very busy promotion tours.
So is true for French actress Marion Cotillard who is simultaneously promoting her new movie Allied with co-star Brad Pitt, and her action thriller Assassin’s Creed.
The Inception star joined some of her castmates at the NYC premiere of the movie at AMC Empire 25 theater on December 13, 2016.
She went glam in an eggplant and midnight embroidered cape by Andrew Gn which also looked quite regal. It was paiered with a loose black fishtail gown from the same designer. We love the side swept loose waves and the deep purple lip.
Michael Fassbender, Essie Davis, and Jeremy Irons also attended the “Assassin’s Creed” New York Premiere.
We saw the preview for this one! It looks really good as well!
This is Cotillard’s second child with longtime partner, Guillaume Canet. The couple has a son named Marcel born in 2011.
Two of my favorite Oscar winning international actresses, the talented Natalie Portman and Marion Cotillard, looked radiant while promoting their respective upcoming movies at screenings this week.
Israeli born Portman went with a striped gown by The Row at the Israel Film Festival Gala in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, November 9 with her hair in a half-up, half-down style with nude makeup . The Academy Award winner polished doff her look with simple hoops by Eddie Borgo and a Vic Minaudière clutch.
Portman stars in Jackie.
Meanwhile, French actress Cotillard stars in a new WWII drama Allied alongside costar Brad Pitt and looked fabulous in a navy Christian Dior maxi dress accented with an embroidered white hand-strap clutch by Dior, and side swept coifed hair at a fan event for the film at the Regency Village Theatre on November 9, 2016 in Westwood, California.
Both women have 5-year old boys at home.
Cotillard, who starred in Inception. and her longtime partner of 9-years Guillaume Canet are expecting their second child together. The couple are parents to 5-year old son Marcel.
Portman and her choreographer husband Benjamin Millepied are parents to 5-year old son Aleph.
I had a disagreement with a friend a while ago about a celebrity pregnancy announcement. She disagreed with me that a celebrity cupping her belly at a public event counts as a pregnancy announcement.
Indeed, it is informal but it is the new way. Beyonce, Amber Rose, Marion Cotillard and Gwen Stefani all “announced” their pregnancies that way. They each did the cupping the belly red carpet reveal.
I didn’t realize that one of my husband’s fave recording artist multi Grammy-award winning singer Marsha Ambrosious, formerly of the group Floetry, is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Dez Billups.
She announced the news this summer while performing at the Essence Festival in New Orleans. She did so by cupping her belly on the stage. Without doing that, it is possible, fans may have assumed perhaps she just gained a little weight.
The “Late Nights & Early Mornings” singer later confirmed the news to Essence.com.
“I didn’t anticipate live music to do what it was going to do,” the “Far Away” singer said of her soon-to-be-born daughter while performing or listening to music. “It’s like an internal earthquake every time music plays. It’s brand new to me but it’s so exciting. I don’t know what she’s doing right now.”
Since the announcement, the couple have been posting adorable photos of each other on IG and Twitter like this one:
French actress Marion Cotillard hit up Paris Fashion week to check out the Women’s wear Spring/Summer 2017 show of Christian Dior’s new creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri in a white ruched-front long sleeve coat shirt over a black print mini skirt paired with chic jeweled black t-bar heels and a cute box clutch.
The Inception star wore her hair pulled back in a single sleek pony and had on the the cutest cuff earrings.
The beautiful mom-to-be and her long time partner actor and director Guillaume Canet are expecting their second child together.
The star of the upcoming World War II spy drama Allied announced her pregnancy news amid controversy and on the heels of the divorce announcement of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.
Canet and Cotillard are parents to a now 5-year old son, Marcel, born March 2011.
The nominations for the 2015 Academy Awards are out and we saw some familiar past blog features represented among the nominees.
Congratulations for their Best Actress nods to Bellyitch Alums Marion Cotillard for her role in Two Days, One Night and Reese Witherspoon for Wild.
Also, kudos on the “Best Supporting actress” nomination to first time mom-to-be Keira Knightley for her role in The Imitation Game.
Another hearty hat tip to writer and producer of The Lego Movie Philip Lord, who upon discovering that his project didn’t get a best animated film nod, decided to tweet a lego version of an Oscar as compensation.
