When Jillan Michaels and her partner, Heidi, were expecting their first child together, Michaels did a lot of research and educating herself on the baby-making and incubating process, and through that experience, the TV personality discovered that a lot of pregnant women are being under-informed on their choices and options.
The exploration prompted the The Biggest Loser alum to pen a book and use her expertise as a celebrity trainer and nutritionist to add another reference option and voice into the fray.
Michaels, who is mom to 5-year old daughter Lukensia and 3-year old son Phoenix, recently released her latest book,”Yeah Baby! The Modern Mama’s Guide to Mastering Pregnancy, Having a Healthy Baby, and Bouncing Back Better than Ever.”
In this meaty 350+ page book, Michaels aims to help enrich the unborn baby by making sure mom is educated on ways to eat properly, exercise adequately and avoid the toxins and other hidden dangers and misconceptions floating out there in the interwebs while she is pregnant.
The book is part information handbook, part autobiographical experience and part friendly resource and written from the New York Time’s Best Seller‘s perspective as she did some researching and digging to uncover some truths about the pregnancy experience. There are sections dedicated to various experts and doctors she and Heidi consulted while on their journey to baby.

Our reader reviewer, Amy, a first-time mom-to-be told us she thought the tone and pace of the book was right on point. It is conversational and not full of too many medical jargon and terminology that can confuse a reader.
“It was like having periodic chats with a girlfriend, ” Amy says of the flow and content of Hey Baby! That’s a plus. While Amy was aware of some of the insights and suggestions that Michaels offers in this book, she said she certainly appreciated getting her information corroborated.
Her favorite part was the portions of the book where Michael dispels myths related to what pregnant women can and cannot eat. A lot of the modern wisdom is outdated and untested, Amy agrees with Michaels’ assessment.
While we recommend everyone does what’s best for their personal situation and consult their own doctor, midwife or practitioner, we still think it’s a breath of fresh air to check out and check into Michael’s sojourn and digest her no-holds-bard approach to telling it like it is. ‘
Amy is also looking forward to implementing some of the tips Michaels offers for peeling off the excess weight gain from pregnancy. The steps seem doable and because she knows what Michaels can do, based on the amazing transformations of Biggest Loser contestants, Amy’s even more excited to put the book into action!
Good stuff! A very worthwhile read! You can get it at Amazon.com for just $13.85 for the paperback!
