Women in Hollywood Are Getting Baby Foreskin Facials Now

First it was “vampire” facials and now affluent women and celebrities like Kate Beckinsale, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett are going to spas to have the foreskin of circumcised babies applied to their skin for cosmetic reasons.

How it works is: Dermal fibroblasts–skin cells that are responsible for generating connective tissue–are taken from the circumcised foreskin of infant penises and then used as a culture for growing new stem cells.

Those new cells are then used to make a serum that is applied to the face as part of a specialized facial.

The procedure costs $650 and is offered at the Georgia Louise Atelier in New York City, and has become a go-to among celebrities.

In a recently deleted Instagram post, actress Kate Beckinsale reportedly admitted she got one of the penis facials.

“After a long flight I do like to lie down and be covered in a mask of liquified cloned foreskins-frankly who doesn’t?” People magazine reports the captioned an Instagram photo “Thank you @georgialouisesk for an amazing facial. I especially liked you reassuring me it would be ‘light on penis’ as it was my first time x.”

Yikes! The reply and backlash was swift and probably is the reason Beckinsale removed the post.  You can read Cafe Mom’s round up of some negative social media commentary HERE!

Earlier this year, Bravo TV scripted television star Jill Kargman tried out the procedure and penned her experience for Hollywood Reporter and even starred in a smiley photo after the treatment. Eeek!

Major Network Reality TV Casting: Show About Searching for Your Child’s Dad

If you are a solo parent who has lost track of your child’s father and aren’t shy about expanding your search before the public, you can consider auditioning for a new show by Squeaky Wheel Casting, an agency which has cast for reality TV shows on HGTV, BravoTV, TLC, Spike, Food Network, Oxgyen, Lifetime channels and more.

The new lifestyle series which is being cast on behalf of a “big time network” will take viewers through the process of a single mom or mom-to-be who is trying to track down her child’s dad.

Now this would apply for those who had a one-night stand that resulted in a pregnancy, or someone who got pregnant for a former lover or partner and for one reason or another failed to inform him of his fatherhood. Or maybe, the dad was aware but dipped out of the picture to avoid responsibility.

If this fits your situation and you’re cool about being on TV, you can contact casting agent at info@SqueakyWheelCasting.com or fill out this FORM HERE!!

Do let us know on our socials Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram if you get cast! We would love to follow your story and root you on your journey!

We Are Experiencing The Rise of the ‘Bully Moms’

bad-moms

Women may be stereotyped as “catty” but the truth of the matter is, generally, we sometimes are most judgmental of one another and often, we do, in fact, prey on each other’s insecurities. We then use them to impose and dictate our standards onto other women and shame them when they don’t measure up.

I’m guilty of this for sure.

Moms do this too.

Heck, the Mommy Wars is all about Judgy Judy McJudsons, and in fact, a recent survey of millennial moms reveal that 80 percent of them have been shamed by other moms. le sigh

Getting bullied and made to feel inadequate by the popular girls and cliques was supposed to end at high school graduation, right?

Women talking at baby shower

But it doesn’t.

In a new piece by Anne Roderique Jones in MarieClaire published today, Jones describes the “Bully Moms” (also the title of the article”) who are fueled by  social media and pop culture.

I love how Jones starts:

You can’t identify a mean mom by her Birkin bag or her lycra Lululemons. She comes in all sizes and socio-economic classes and lives in no specific zip code, rearing her head in the heartland, crunchy California, the Deep South, New York City. But you know a mean mom when you meet one: She criticizes your parenting style, calls you out on Facebook, or slathers you in snark. These are the mean girls, all grown up and blossomed into adult bullies with kids of their own. You’ve probably encountered a few at your local playground. Hell, maybe you are one.

The author then goes on to perfectly explain the evolution of “Keeping up With the Jones” from the perfect TV families to Reality TV wives and beyond:

I hesitate to blame pop culture for the mom-on-mom hate, but life does imitates art. Our parents’ generation grew up watching scripted sitcoms with impeccably behaved children (The Brady Bunch, Happy Days) and modeled their own actions accordingly. But as our entertainment appetites evolved, so did the way we treat each other … Girls who watched ‘The Simple Life’ as teens in the mid-aughts are now moms hooked on ‘The Real Housewives.’

In a world dominated by Pinterest and Instagram, is being a mother (which women have been doing since the beginning of time, mind you) starting to become an endless race towards perfection, lest you get called out for being anything less? Do we all have to keep up with the clever birth announcements, the gender reveal parties, the elaborate maternity shoots, the professional post-birth shots in the hospital ward? I recently came across a post in my feed of a beautiful blonde woman wearing an off-the-shoulder shirt with #MomLife scrolled in gold letters across the front. It’s all a perfectly curated existence, this motherhood thing.

Maybe moms today—with the pressure to be selfie-level beautiful, to cook Instagram-worthy (organic) meals, to plan lavish playdates, and to maintain a career so they can, in many cases, not just contribute to their household but be the breadwinner or even the sole source of income—are just too damn exhausted.

Fascinating and sadly accurate!

Head on over to MarieClaire.com and digest the rest.

How to Do a Pregnancy Progression or Baby’s First Year Board (Examples)

morgan

So pregnancy progression boards are a great new trendy way to track each month of your pregnancy. After baby is born, some new moms use the same concept to chronicle each month of a baby’s development in a photo graphic format.

BUY THESE CHALKBOARD STICKERS (CLICK IMAGE BELOW)

Select from among many different sample boards that other bloggers have done and shared among their readers. We found the above title image at Morgans2Day blog. You can wear the same outfit and/or stand in front of the same chalkboard or framed white board each month. You can track it by weeks or by months. The final image is usually you holding your newborn.

You can add additional details to the board like a description of how large the baby is compared to random objects like a peach, cantaloupe, prune etc. Or what new organ or capability has developed in the baby in utero.

They are fun and can be shared with family and friends and kept as a keepsake for later to share with your child as she grows.

If you are newly pregnant, trying to conceive or just had a baby, here are a few sample boards we spotted in Pinterest for you to consider:

Hosting a Baby Shower this Spring? Check out these tips, recipes, links and more!

fun baby shower

If you plan to host a baby shower this Spring or Summer, you are fortunate to have more options and flexibility than in the Fall or Winter.  Backyards, rooftops and patios become options for a venue. You can save money too by hosting it at a park or making your own favors with outdoorsy themes versus buying them like the super cute tutu nail polishes and the “Ready to Pop” favors above.

Shower hosts can serve cool and refreshing mocktails too like the “Summer Is Coming Mocktail” created by Zico brand ambassador and celebrity nutritionist, Tanya Zuckerbrot, of the renowned F-Factor Diet.

It’s made with Zico‘s newest flavor: watermelon raspberry coconut water. I mixed up a batch using a sampling of complimentary stock Zico provided me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and because there is no alcohol in it, I shared some with the kids and they loved it too. The lime and mint garnishes give it the perfect kick at the end. Yummy. Here is the recipe for the Summer Is Coming Mocktail recipe:

mocktails

Serves 8

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups ZICO watermelon raspberry coconut water

1 small seedless watermelon, flesh removed and diced (about 4 cups total)

2 limes

mint, for garnish

  1. In a blender, puree the coconut water, diced watermelon and juice from the limes.
  2. Pour the mixture into a pitcher over ice.
  3. Serve by pouring 2 oz. of the pureed mixture into a glass. Fill to the top with lemon-lime soda and mix lightly to combine.
  4. Garnish with mint.

And before you start planning for a Spring or Summer shower,  you must head over to Pinterest and there you will discover links to many websites and blogs choc full of fab ideas. Here is a select few to start you off:
