Kelly Clarkson didn’t think pregnancy was “beautiful” or “magical” like everyone says and had such a horrific experience that she forced her husband, Brandon Blackstock, to get a vasectomy.
In a recent article with Refinery29, she explained her experience with back-to-back pregnancies which also included massive weight gain and intense public and media attention that wasn’t always too kind.
“It’s horrible. Nothing is beautiful, nothing is magical. Whatever, you’re that person that gets that pregnancy, good for you,” she said. “But I will remind my children every day of their lives what I [went through].”
And not only was her pregnancy with daughter River Rose challenging, so was her pregnancy with son Remington Alexander which she said was even worse and prompted her decision to have ‘no more kids.’
“I was literally pregnant with Remi, and I was like, ‘You are getting fixed,” she said of her convo with Blackstock. “This will never happen to me again. If something happens, it’s a miracle of God. I literally told my Ob/Gyn on the table while open, ‘If I get pregnant again, I will find you!”
Clarkson overcame being the child of a divorce and having an absentee father who only wanted something to do with her once she became famous.
Right before giving birth to Remington, she returned to perform on the final season of the TV talent show which made her famous American Idol.
While performing her ballad “Piece By Piece about her disappointment of a dad and her wonderful stepdad, she become emotional and paused singing several times and almost broke down in tears before ending the song with the lyrics h“He’ll never break her heart, he’ll love her,” in reference to her husband’s relationship with their daughter.
