‘New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel Welcomes Son, Charlie Wolf

New Girl star Zooey Deschanel and her husband Jacob Pechenik have welcomed their second child together, a baby boy!

The couple named the new arrival Charlie Wolf, TODAY reports. According PEOPLE the baby was born sometime last week. He joins big sister Elsie Otter, who turns 2 in July. Like big sister, Charlie’s middle name is an animal.

Deschanel told TODAY‘s Willie Geist back in October 2015 that they named her after the animal which her and her husband both like

“We just really liked the name Elsie, and then we both love otters because they’re so sweet and also smart,” said Deschanel, laughing.

“They use tools, they keep their favorite tools, they hold hands while they sleep. There are so many amazing things about otters,” she added. “They’re wonderful animals.”

New Girl’s Zooey Deschanel is Expecting her 2nd Child

Congrats to New Girl star Zooey Deschanel and her husband Jacob Pechenik who are expecting their second child together.

The couple wed in a June 2015 ceremony in Texas and are parents to 18-month old Elsie Otter.

In a recent interview, the Trolls star recently bragged on her daughters.

“She is really special,” Deschanel said of Elsie. “She’s saying some words. She says a lot of words but she’s really obsessed with hats right now. My mom wears hats a lot and we had dinner with her and as soon as my mom came out, my daughter said, ‘hat! hat!… I think she’s really proud that she recognizes that and if she walks in my closet, the hats are on the top shelf and she’ll point to them.”

Zooey Deschanel welcomes Daughter after Secret Wedding last Month

Congratulations to New Girl actress Zooey Deschanel on the birth of her first child, a daughter.

She and her fiance Jacob Pechenik apparently wed late last month before the baby arrived, according to E!Online.

A rep for the actress confirmed to US Weekly on Monday that Deschanel gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

“I am thrilled to confirm that Zooey Deschanel and her husband, Jacob Pechenik, are new parents to a beautiful healthy baby girl,” Deschanel’s rep told the magazine, additionally confirming that the couple wed in secret.

Deschanel first announced that she and Pechenik were expecting a baby back in January.

On sharing due dates with a major celebrity mom-to-be

Nine-months pregnant writer Emily Gould wrote a well thought-out piece in yesterday’s Racked.com which I could relate to much. In it, she talks about being fascinated with the pregnancies of celebrities like Kate Middleton, Zooey Deschanel, Keira Knightley and other celebrities also expecting as she is.

Even though Gould knows these women have different pressures of having to incubate a child under the watchful eye of cameras and the public, she still feels a sort of kindred kinship with these ladies and for that reason has kept up with their respective pregnancies in the media. She knows sort of what they are going through and can relate.

It reminded me of how this blog launched eight years ago. Like Gould, I too was expecting and found comfort in keeping up with media coverage of Halle Berry, Garcelle Beauvais, Nicole Richie and Christina Aguilera, Jenna Elfman and Salma Hayek who, back then, were also expecting. Along with blogging about my own personal third and final pregnancy, I’d sprinkle in some post here and there about these ladies. But dissimilar to Gould, who suspects that she will “be over” the celebrity pregnant thing after she gives birth, my fascination and appreciation continued and hence we have the Bellyitch Blog of today which brings readers a good dose of celeb bump watch, sprinkled in between fashion, parenting tips and news and studies related to pregnancy, parenting and children.

And so…today, we are officially on baby watch #2 with Kate Middleton who is officially due this Saturday and sources say is close to giving birth to her second child any moment now! Still exciting!
