Olivia Wilde shares due date on Golden Globes red carpet

Another one of our current Bellyitch Bumpwatch moms Olivia Wilde looked stunning in a shimmery sequinned Gucci gown, toting an Emm Kuo clutch and stepping in  Charlotte Olympia platform pumps on the red carpet to tonight’s 71st annual Golden Globes awards at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress, who captured attention for her role in TV’s House glistened with Forevermark diamonds.

The Rush star was beau-ti-fulllllll with the wavy ombre hair and the smokey eyes and nude lip were winners! Yass!
Before hitting the carpet, she tweeted:

Hilarious!

Wilde, who is 6-months pregnant with actor fiance Jason Sudeukis’s child, announced on the carpet that she is due May 4.
On the red carpet, the actress, currently starring in Her, also talked having boobs now made choosing a dress a little different this round.
Funny for a woman who took a stage name after the late great Irish poet Oscar Wilde!
Look at those heels tho! wow!
Olivia Widle, preggers in pretty high Charlotte Olympia heels.

Kerry Washington confirms pregnancy at Golden Globes red carpet

EDITED:  After refusing to confirm her pregnancy for months, Scandal actress Kerry Washington hit the red carpet to tonight’s 71st annual Golden Globes cupping her growing bump, wearing a light mint green Balenciaga gown with matching clutch, Casadei shoes, and Fred Leighton jewels.

The soft pink lips were well set off with subtle nut brown lids.

“I have the best date of the night — my little accessory,” Washington said of her bump in a brief interview with Ryan Seacrest during E!’s red carpet pre-show.

The mom-to-be is up for a Globe for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series-Drama at the event held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel  in Beverly Hills, California
Washington and new husband of under a year NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha are expecting their first child after marrying last June 2013 in Idaho.

Rumors began in September that the couple were expecting starting on last year’s Primetime Emmy Awards red carpet when interviewers took note that she refused to answer questions and appeared a bit green.
Tonight’s belly caressing pose confirms it! She should be between 6 to 7 months along based on reports.
Congrats!

A Utah woman, 58, to give birth to own granddaughter soon

courtesy Salt Lake Tribune/Al Hartmann
A 58-year old Utah grandmother will soon give birth to her first grandchild, a baby girl.

Julia Navarro is the gestational surrogate carrier for her daughter Lorena McKinnon and son-in-law Micah McKinnon.
The couple had trouble to conceive “naturally” starting three years ago, and went through about a dozen miscarriages when Navarro offered to carry the baby after a sister and friend offered, then backed out.
“As a family, we have to help each other,” Navarro, a Peruvian immigrant,  told The Salt Lake Tribune.””I was praying, ‘If this baby works, I am going to help others.’ “
Navarro underwent 3-months of hormone shots before she could have an embryo fertilized by her daughter, a SkyWest flight attendant and son-in-law. Despite the 45% success odds given Navarro’s advanced age, the procedure work.
And in a few weeks, she’ll be delivering her own grandbaby.
This is not the first time this has happened.
Last year, a 53-year-old Iowa woman gave birth to her twin granddaughters. And in 2012, a 49-year-old woman in Maine gave birth to her grandson.

Rockmond Dunbar and wife Maya welcome daughter, Berkeley Seon

A belated congratulations to actor Rockmond Dunbar from The Mentalist on the birth of his daughter, Berkeley Seon.

Dunbar, known for his role in  the Showtime TV show Soul Food  and Prison Break  tweeted the news:

“Mom is doing great,” he tweeted on December 6. “We are absolutely in LOVE with our daughter.”

His wife, actress Maya Gilbert Dunbar stars in this season of Banshee on Cinemax. The couple got engaged in December 2012 and married in June 2013.

Back in October, Dunbar had to clear up with his Twitter followers that Maya had not yet given birth after they misinterpreted his “praise” tweet.

Last September, Dunbar’s co-stars (Vanessa Williams, Boris Kodjoe and spouse/co-star Nicole Ari Parker and Malinda Williams)  from the serial sitcom spun off the hit cult classic move Soul Food came out to help him celebrate the impending arrival at a baby shower for Maya.

A Balanced Approach to Kids’ Screen Time: 4 Tips

Bellyitch Rewind
Screen time is a fact of life. Like the rest of their families, most babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in this country watch videos and play with computer games and apps—and they enjoy it. And many parents struggle with that fact. We agonize over the amount of screen time our kids get and fear its impact. We  judge ourselves by the hours spent or unspent in front of the TV or computer, and we judge others.
Parents need breathers, and parents need showers and a video can grant you a little time—no one, we said, is going to die if you “plop the kid down” in front of a video or the television once in a while.
And how many times a day does the average parent hand over a cell phone to a child in a stroller, in line at the grocery store, at a restaurant, or in the car seat? It’s a research study waiting to happen.
There are mixed messages from psychologists, the American Academy of Pediatrics and others out there when it comes to screens and kids, here are four tips that encourage a balanced approach:
1. Use screens to enhance reading together, not to replace it. It’s obvious that a video doesn’t replace a bedtime book, but the app and ebook options are more tempting, and less clear. Reading together is sharing—but tapping the laundry basket icon to make a cat appear over and over again is more akin to singular play than reading books. If you’ve set out to read one on one with your child, then read.
2. Encourage sociability. No one would ever tell you to stop handing your child a board book in a restaurant—why are we suggesting that the Cat in the Hat app is any different? Consider this: anywhere your toddler expects to get that phone—whether it’s serving as book, video player, or game—your preschooler, and then your child, will expect to be engaged by a gadget. If there are people around, let’s talk.
3. Plan for a “Balanced Media Diet.” Too many apps and not enough books isn’t good for you, just like too many carbs and no protein isn’t healthy either. While books are great, kids also need to play with blocks and play dough and run around outside. Even Cookie Monster has declared that a cookie is a “sometime thing.” While Cookie Monster’s evolution may border on sacrilegious, screens, too, are “sometime things.”

4. Look for ways to make screens about reading. When the little screens are in their hands, or the big ones are calling for their attention, do look for ways to connect the world on-screen and the world of reading together. Favor ebooks over apps for reading together, and apps that develop literacy over those that don’t (more on that in the app section). Choose videos that spring from books over those that don’t.
