Empire star Terrance Howard and his beautiful wife since 2013 Miranda are expecting a son later this year.

This will be the 4th child for the Oscar nominee who is starring in his first full time television role in the FOX musical drama about a hip hop mogul and his family.

Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels (The Butler, Precious) is the producer and executive director of the series which also stars Taraji P. Henson (Curious case of Benjamin Button, Person of Interest) and Courtney Love, two wonderful entertainers (both moms) who we’ve featured before.

The Howards announced the news of their first baby together last December and while on the red carpet promoting his show’s debut last Tuesday revealed the gender to E! News.

Howard has two daughters, 21-year old Aubrey and 17-year old Heaven with his first wife Lori McCommas. He is also grandad to Aubrey’s daughter Hazel. The Hustle and Flow actor and his second wife Michelle Ghent divorced in 2013 and had no children together.

10 tips for parenting your youngest child

Following up on our series on “How to Care for Your Eldest Child“, “How to Care for an Only Child“, “How to care for a Middle Child” and Rules for caring for  Extrovert and Introvert Child, it is fitting we finally explore How to Care for your last born or the Youngest Child, using excerpted tips from The West Coast Wellness Group. Here are things to consider about the youngest child in the family that should help you in managing and rearing them.
1.  Youngest children are unique in that they are never displaced by a newborn.  They are the babies of the family, and in that way, they continue to be babied long into adulthood.  Youngest tend to appear youthful throughout their lives.  (Ronald Reagan was a youngest, a rarity for a US President.) Youngest children often receive a lot of attention from family because many feel responsible for taking care of them.  Thus, youngest may be indulged, pampered and spoiled in ways that other children are not.  Having experienced good things from others, youngest children may grow up expecting good things from life and therefore tend to be optimists rather than negative-thinking people.
2. Parents tend to be rather blase about the youngest after they come along.  After all, they have already done some child-rearing tasks, and may not be as enthusiastic about this child’s accomplishments.  Thus, the youngest has less expectations placed upon them and they tend to achieve less.  Youngest children grow up having others make decisions for them and thus, as adults, have far less confidence about decision-making in early and mid-adult life.  If teased – and youngest tend to be teased a great deal – they may become interested in working for people for whom they perceive as “powerless” in society.  Occupations such as clergy, nurse, social worker, actor, singer and therapist are common professions for youngest children.  The may be less ambitious than other sibling or birth order positions and are less likely to follow family traditions; creative or artistic pursuits can be a large draw for them.
3. Being the smallest in the family, youngest children quickly learned that being aggressive was ineffective; to get what they wanted youngests found that  employing charm was much more useful.  Another less desirable  but perhaps arguably effective way of obtaining one’s wonts was  pouting to get one’s way.  Either way, it is some manner or   form of manipulation that attempts to get what the person wants.  Later in life the youngest may not need to use manipulative strategies,  but nevertheless youngest tend to continue to be charming in nature.
4. Because their older sibling seemed to have the hold on the intelligence in areas such as scholarly academics, youngest children try to move in different directions in order to be content on their own terms.  If an eldest child was the honor roll, the youngest may be in the school play or music room or creative writing class.
5. Youngest children are followers much more than leaders, and will happily follow a leader they respect.  If a youngest finds themself in a leadership role, they are often well-liked, but their authority may not be taken seriously.  In relationships, youngest children may be dependent on their older spouses and then rebel against them or their control.
6. Youngest children who have been treated well as children tend to be sociable, easy-going and friendly.  If treated poorly as a child, they may be shy and irritable with others
7. Since they are used to being around lots of people, and have done so since birth, many youngest children are very social and enjoy being around people as much as possible. This can be trying at times for parents as youngest children may be very demanding of your time if there is not other child around to play with, or keep them occupied. However, it’s hard to argue with having a child who is outgoing, friendly and chatty, even if it is exhausting some of the time
8. In order to gain attention, and firmly establish their place in the family, youngest children need to be able to find unique ways to identify themselves. For this reason, they are frequently risk-takers and rebels. You may experience your youngest child as feisty and a bit of a smart aleck. This is his or her way of reminding you that being the youngest doesn’t mean being the most invisible. Fortunately, for many youngest children, the “cuteness” factor outweighs the potential for being annoying.
9. For many parents, by the time they get to the youngest (even of two) they feel they have “mastered” being a parent. They are therefore more relaxed and less anxious. Needless to say, this affects the way they parent the youngest child in comparison to older children. Youngest children typically experience a greater sense of independence and freedom.
10. Although, since they have one or more “mothers” and “fathers” disguised as older siblings, this doesn’t necessarily mean they behave more independently. In fact, some youngest children don’t want to be too independent because it will mean giving up that special place as the baby, which they so enjoy. They therefore allow their parents and older siblings to take care of and do things for them that they are actually capable of doing for themselves. This may or may not be a bad thing depending upon its severity and how everyone else in the family feels about it.

Dr. Susan S. Bartell, licenses psychologist adds “as with every child, your youngest will be challenging at times and, of course, wonderful at other times. As long as you do your best to learn about your child, make thoughtful parenting decisions and love all your children fully, your children will flourish and thrive happily.”

2015 Golden Globes Red Carpet Events “Bumps and Fashion”

The 2015 Golden Globe Awards and the pre and post show events gave us plenty of red carpet bumps to gawk at…
Here are the ladies we’re following and what they word:
Keira Knightly, who was nominated for her role in The Imitation Game, wore a light and feminine custom Chanel buttefly print slip dress with tiered ruffles at the bottom from the line’s pre 2015 collection, belted above the bump with a frilly lace bib along the neckline. She accented the look with a butterfly bracelet and black clutch. Knightly and her husband, James Righton, a keyboardist for the group The Kaxons, are expecting their first child this year.
Tamera Mowry-Housley went va va voom with a high slit one shoulder Michael Kors dress, Kimberly McDonald jewels, Kelly Wearstler clutch and silver strappy Badgley Mischka heels while attending the NBCUniversal 2015 Golden Globe Awards Party sponsored by Chrysler at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. Mowry-Housley and her husband Adam Housley are expecting their second child, a daughter. The couple are parents to 2-year old son, Aden.
Molly Sims hit up the InStyle Post-Golden Globe party in a sunny yellow Lisa Perry Schumacher 1889 gown. Love the ethnic-inspired embroidered trim to this dress. Sims and her husband Scott Stuber are expecting their second child. They are parents to 2-year old son, Brooks.

TV host Terri Seymour also played up her sensual side a bit in a black Yosep Sinudarsono  Yotuz Collection dress, accented with jewels from XIV Karats Beverly Hills, while attending the Weinstien Company and Netflix Golden Globes After Party. Seymour, well known for being a longtime girlfriend of Simon Cowell, is in her last trimester of her pregnancy. She and beau Clark Mallon are expecting their first child together.

Is Beyoncé punking all of us with this photo?

    You guys!
All the news sites and blogs are saying this Instagram share from our girl Beyoncé from this past Sunday is her way of announcing her second pregnancy.
I’m not sure if she is messing with us or not because I’m pretty certain a woman like her who is as meticulous and cautious as she is with her image is not unaware of how this pic looks.
She is on an Asian vacation these days and has been sharing “keeping it real” types of photos. And by that I mean more candid and down to earth ones. She looks like one of us and is photographing herself doing all the things  normal people do on vacay.
What do you think? Is this a second pregnancy announcement or are we being Punked?

    10 savings mistakes moms make

    Woman reading book
    Woman reading book
Women are the driving force behind any economy. Moms make most of the household purchasing decisions, but don’t always put savings at the top of household priorities.
It’s hard to do given all the various items on the family budget. But finding room to stash savings can be done by first avoiding certain bad habits.  Here are some tips for moms to avoid these common retirement planning mistakes when they’re considering their financial future.
    1.Waiting to save.
Start saving early so your money has time to grow. If you’re worried about sticking to your budget, start small. Even $20 a week can go a long way over time, and when your budget allows, contribute more.
    2. Failing to plan.
It is important to understand expenses for the type of lifestyle you want, so you can save enough money. Figure out what your retirement goals are, and start planning your retirement finances now. There are helpful interactive calculators that can help you determine how much you will need in retirement.
    3. Saving for college before retirement.
Moms want the best for their children, but there are many factors when deciding which savings take priority. Consider this: Your kids have access to loans and scholarships to help pay for college, but if you don’t save enough money for retirement, you may not be able to afford your expenses.* You could also have separate savings for college and retirement, and contribute to both. Even if you’re contributing less to each than you would like, the longer the money is in the account, the more the interest will accumulate.
    4. Retiring with a lot of debt.
Find a way to pay down or pay off consumer, student loan, and mortgage debt before you retire. These recurring payments will be harder to make when you’re on a fixed income.
    5. Relying on Social Security.
Your Social Security benefits are a valuable source of income during retirement, but with an average benefit of just $1,237,** it is unlikely that Social Security will be able to cover all your retirement expenses. Before you retire, visit www.socialsecurity.gov to find out what benefits you should plan for.
    6. Failing to research options to increase your savings.
The key to growing your retirement fund is balancing risk and reward. Look into different options and how they could fit your retirement goals.

    7. Individualizing your accounts.
If financial assets are in one account under one name, it may be hard to access those funds in the event of a family death. Having joint retirement accounts will protect you, your family, and your finances in the event of an unexpected death.***
    8. Using your retirement funds before retiring.
Let the money in your retirement fund grow, and if you need money earlier, consider other sources. It is harder to save the closer you get to retirement, and many retirement accounts have steep penalties for withdrawing early.
    9. Failure to plan for taxes.
Keep in mind that you will still have to pay taxes after leaving the workforce. Plan ahead so you’ll have enough money to pay your taxes as well as enjoy your retirement.
    10. Depending on a specific retirement age.
You may plan to work until you’re 65, but sometimes unexpected circumstances alter your retirement plans. That is why it is important to start saving for retirement early, so you won’t be short of your retirement goals if you are unable to work earlier than expected.

If you are doing any of these things, hopefully you’ll take this as your notice to switch things up,mom!

HBO’s Jemima Kirke paints Liv Tyler’s pregnant form

    Whoa baby!
The Leftovers’  Liv Tyler recently secured the talent of former Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum HBO‘s Jemima Kirke to capture her very pregnant form in artwork.
“So fun to be painted by a friend,” the second-time mom-to-be captioned her Instagram shared photos.
Can’t wait to see the finished product. Kirke is expressive and used to artistic expression during pregnancy. She famously posted some artsy/racy photos for Vice magazine when she was last pregnant in 2012.
Tyler and her beau British football agent Dave Gardner are expecting their 1st child together. She has a 9-year old son Milo with ex husband Royston Langdon
Kirke and husband Michael Mosberg welcomed their second child, a son, in 2012
