8 months pregnant US Olympic athlete runs 800m in 2 minutes

US Olympic marathoner Alysia Montano competed in the 800 meter race at an international competition this week and finished the race in 2 minutes and 32 seconds…while 34 weeks pregnant!
The dynamic athlete, known for running with a bright flower in her hair and nicknamed “the flying flower”, got the okay from her doctors to compete.
Even though the 5-time did not win and came in last while representing the U.S. at the competition at the Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California, she told reporters, she felt “really good.”
The crowd gave her a standing ovation when she came in at a time that most people would struggle to run at that pace.
“I’ve been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process,” she said.
When not preggers, Montano rocks the typical rock solid 6-pack of track athletes.
This would be the first child for Montano and her husband since 2011 Louis.
Amazing but definitely not for novices.

UK Celeb Katie Price blames pregnancy weight gain for husband’s infidelity

During a recent TV appearance, ex Bellyitch BumpWatch mom & current 5th time mom-to- be UK TV personally Katie Price blames pregnancy weight gain for driving her husband to cheat.
The former model revealed during a June 20 appearance on Britain’s ITV show Loose Women last week that she gained 4 stones (about 50 lbs) in between giving birth to her son Jett with husband  Kieran Hayler last year and getting pregnant with their 2nd child, a daughter shorty after.
Price pictured with another bumpwatch alum Myleene Klass
Price tweeted on May 7 about the affair he had with her best friend Jane Poutney which lasted 8 months- apparently during the entire pregnancy.
Price already has two other sons Harvey and Junior and a daughter named Princess Tiaamii Crystal Esther Andre. She also said on the show, she feels pressured to give her next daughter a “crazy” name to match Princess’.

She also said she plans to work out feverishly to shed the baby weight.
Price’s confession on the show speaks to many women’s fears about weight gain during pregnancy where they wrongly blame themselves for their husband’s inability to be faithful while bringing a life into this world they helped create. So unfair and unfortunate.

Study: Women who have babies after 33 live longer

Women who have kids after 33 are twice as likely to live to 95 or older than those who stopped having babies before age 30, a new Boston University School of Medicine study found.
“Of course this does not mean women should wait to have children at older ages in order to improve their own chances of living longer,” study co-author Thomas Perls, a professor of medicine at BU said. “The natural ability to have a child at an older age likely indicates that a woman’s reproductive system is aging slowly, and therefore so is the rest of her body.”
Researchers of the study published in the journal Menopause said the link exists because gene variations that enable women to have babies by natural means at a later age may also be tied to living longer lives.
“If a woman has those variants, she is able to reproduce and bear children for a longer period of time, increasing her chances of passing down those genes to the next generation,” Perls said.
This is the last of a series of studies that netted similar findings. An earlier study from the New England Centenarian Study found that women who had children after the age of 40 were four times more likely to live to 100 than women who had their last child at a younger age.

Kourtney Kardashian rocking the denim overall trend

SPOTTED!!

KOURTNEY KARDASHIAN ROCKING THE OVERALL TREND-PREGNANCY STYLE
WE BLOGGED ABOUT THIS YEAR.
The shopkeeper and reality TV star of Keeping up with the Kardashian wore a pair of denim cut off overalls the same day she hosted her niece’s North’s first birthday party at her new home in Calabasas that was once owned by Justin Bieber. She made it funky by pairing them with gladiator sandals.
Several decades ago, pregnant women lived in overalls because there weren’t really many maternity options. But since then, more labels, brands and designers have branched out and have gotten into the market creating stylish, trendy and fashionable maternity clothes. It freed moms-to-be from restrictions and opened up many options for them.

And as luck would have it, overalls are back in fashion and are seen on A-listers and socialites nationwide. The new variety have more shape and form, but who cares about that. Finally, you can kick back and wear your overalls carefree and be in style at the same time. Its a win-win.

Would you rock overalls again? Whether you’re pregnant or not?

Preschooler foils nanny’s plans to rob client and blame black neighbor (adds to “blame black man” crime history)

A 17-year old Washington state babysitter arranged for her boyfriend and his friend to rob her client’s home and then told police a man who resembled a black neighbor committed the crime. Her plan was foiled when 4-year old Abby, who she babysat told the police, “it wasn’t the right skin color.”
By then, police had already arrested neighbor 25-year-old Cody Oakes because  he fit the description the babysitter gave.
She later admitted to police that she was in on the robbery, and worked with her 16-year-old boyfriend and 18-year-old Ruben J. Benjamin to pull off the crime.
It is the latest case in a string of high profile national cases where a white person accuses a black person for a crime she or he is actually responsible of committing. The most in famous was the 1994 case of South Carolina’s Susan Smith who falsely accused a black man of carjacking her and killing her children when she is the one who murdered her two sons. Smith is currently serving out a life sentence for the crime.
Here is a list of some other cases:
In 2003, Brian Douglas Wells went into a Pennsylvania bank with a bomb tied around his neck, claiming that a group of black men had planted the bomb on him, but it turned out he and some of his friends had planned the whole thing.
In 2008, Ashley Todd, a John McCain supporter carved the letter B into her forehead and said a black Obama supporter did it.
In 2009, Bonnie Sweeten, a white woman, told police she and her daughter had been abducted by two black men in a Cadillac to cover up a trip to Disney World.
In 2010, Vancouver resident Bethany Storro threw acid on her own face but said a black woman did it.
In 2011, Amanda Knox allegedly killed her roomate, though she was found not guilty and face another trial, and blamed her black shopkeeper whose life was torn apart after the false accusation. It later turned out her boyfriend and another friend were involved. One of those friends is black  and is currently serving a sentence for the crime in Italy.
In 2012, a 17-year old Washington state teen stabbed and killed his girlfriend Jasmyn Tully and said a black man did it.
In 2014, a California man, Brent Thomas Posada,  shot himself in the leg but said a black guy did it.
Enough already!

Babeep device would alert driver when baby is left in the car

Last week, a baby in Georgia and Florida died when  a relative not used to doing daycare drop off before heading in to work accidentally forgot the baby strapped in the car seat on a hot day.
Unfortunately this is very common in the United States and around the world.
On average, 38 children die in the U.S. each year after being left in a hot car and last year it was 44.  In Atlanta, more than 22 children have died this way since 1990, and it happens among the most loving and protective parents of every color and socioeconomic background.
Since auto manufacturers haven’t stepped up to install devices to help prevent the nearly 700 children heatstroke deaths when left in a car in warm temperatures, tech startup Babeep has.  The device plugs into cigarette lighter (and comes with a USB port for charging the phone) and it alerts the driver with baby sounds and audible lighted alerts after the driver turns off the engine.
It may seem silly to some that such a warning would be needed, but when you think about deaths like the one in Trinidad a couple months ago when a grandad not used to dropping off a grandkid to daycare forgot he was in the back seat and the baby died, you realize how really needed the device is.
The creators invented Babeep after a relative forgot his baby in the car and almost had a tragic end. When searching for a solution to prevent such a tragedy proved fruitless, they decided to make it themselves and started by interviewing parents.  The device, which is in prototype stages and will be brought to market soon, also alerts passerbys if the baby was left in a parking lot and a parent’s mobile that they may have forgotten the baby in the car.
The plug and play device will be $40, is radiation free, and works in 99% of cars, according to the manufacturers who are currently raising money on Indiegogo Crowd-Funding site to get funding to bring the device to market.
It really is too bad that automobiles have warning about leaving the dome light on, the keys in the car and even when you are too close to the curb or another care when parking  but not a warning about a baby left in the car.

Check out a video about the device below:

Savannah Brinson hinted to LeBron James’ free agency decision two days ago

Today, the US Interwebs is abuzz with news that the most popular player currently in the National Basketball Association, LeBron James has decided to become a free agent after this year and may leave Miami Heat.
But two days ago, his wife Savannah Brinson may have hinted of James’ decision to part ways with the Heat after only a few years on the team when she shared a graphic of Akron, Ohio with the caption, “Home sweet home!! The countdown is real! #330”.

The share led multiple sources to speculate that LeBron could be headed back to his home team since entering the NBA draft in 2003, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The multiple-NBA MVPer’s departure from the Cavs after 8 years was abrupt, following the first slump after successful seasons and was not well received given that the Jameses’ are natives to Akron, Ohio.
Earlier, in May,  we had reported that signs pointed to the possibility that Savannah was pregnant with the couple’s third child based on a photo that made her appear to be pregnant and news accounts she skipped alcoholic beverages and dangerous activities while on a recent girls’ adventure outing.
The Heat President Pat Riley confirmed the news accidentally during a presser last week, stating that the family, which includes two sons, would be expanding soon.  They are parents to sons 6-year old Bryce and 9-year old LeBron Jr.
The Jameses only married last September 2013 after James proposed on New Year’s Eve 2012. Beyonce Knowles reportedly sang at the lavish wedding. Her hubby Shawn “Jay Z” Carter attended the 3-day weekend affair that took place at the historic Grand Del Mar hotel in San Diego before 200 guests.
