Internet Trolls viciously attack Kim Kardashian for piercing Baby North’s ears

It is official!! The entire world of critics and commenters have officially signed on to be the co-parents to Blue Ivy Carter and North West, the girl child spawns of Beyonce Knowles and Shawn “JayZ” Carter; and Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, respectively.

Must be, cause it seems everyone has an opinion on every parenting decision those couples make about their kid, whether it is whether to leave them barefoot, comb their hair, take them on a vacation, let them walk versus carry them or travel with them. It appears that every paparazzi pic that comes across their social media feeds warrant some sort of visceral reaction from the global peanut gallery bemoaning their opinion of how these parents ought to be caring for their child! Sheesh!

Today’s drama du jour has to do with pics of North West, who is celebrating her first birthday with her parents in Mexico, revealing that the little one-year old go her ears pierced. She also was gifted a $30,000 doll house and a pair of diamond earrings to commemorate the milestone.

“Celebrities” I’ve never even heard of are even coming out the woodwork to throw a jab.

Here is a small selection of overreactions (it’s not that deep, really) other outlets have assembled:

MetroSun UK
NY Post
And one troll, a British “comedienne” had the nerve to call her Ugly. ugh!

Here is to hoping this woman never has a child of her own for people to ridicule and call vile names.

What is it that P.T. Barnum said:

First of all, it’s a cultural thing in many countries that are not America or in Europe to pierce a child’s ears when they are babies, and before they can consent or even talk. I pierced my daughter’s ears when she was 3 months old. My baby. My decision.

What’s the deal with other people not only imposing their own personal preference but also culture on others. Not cool. Mind your business and tend to your own kid is my opinion.

It might be cruel and painful in your eyes, but so is circumcising a baby in many people’s opinions, yet many of those outraged wouldn’t dare tell a Jewish parent he or she shouldn’t abide by their centuries old custom.

.

While it does take a village to raise a child, sometimes the village needs to let a parent do her or his thing and worry about what’s going on in their own huts.

8 New Products to Check out for the Summer

Summer is around the corner and as busy and anxious parents prepare for longer days, fun, sun and surf, we’ve rounded up some great products to keep in mind and check out.
1.

Ugly marks from mosquito bites.  Whether you or your kid have keloid skin or bruise from the usual rough housing of summer play, bug bites or allergic skin reactions, you may be stuck with a raised bump or scar. We sampled  Scar Away’s newest products, including its professional grade Silicone Daily Discs and after applying the round discs on visible scars for a few days, the scars faded, flattened much.

The company that makes the discs also sells  the flexi Scar Sheets that are great for contoured body areas including C-section scars.  They sell in 12 week supply.

2.  Date Night Solution- For date nights out after having a baby, new moms can feel sexy again wearing one of Avon’s new Body Illusions undergarments with seamless and anti-rolling construction that flattens the tummy and slims the waistline. The shapewear is opaque, machine-washable and made of nylon with spandex.

3.  Campers Treat: Here is a cool idea for those of you due this summer. Tattooest sells temporary tattoos what you can  customize with the name of your newborn.  They can be given away with your birth announcement card or as a little gift/souvenir to friends and family who come to visit your pretty little miracle. We haven’t personally tested them out, but it seems like a cute idea, even though $252 seems like a lot of money and who knows 100 people who will want to tattoo your baby’s name  on their skin? Seems like they should sell in smaller batches just for very close family.

4. For new walkers: If your little one is starting to walk this summer, you’re going to make sure his little footsies are covered and in the right pair of shoes that support a new walker. You might have spotted the makers of Freshly Picked moccasins bidding for funding on ABC‘s Shark Tank. The are comfy moccasins for young kids. They come in sizes 1 to 10 and are made of 100% genuine leather. Celeb fans of the shoes include Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Petra.

5. A Camp Alternative: And if you are looking for a fun and different activity for your school kids home for the summer to do, and in the San Francisco Bay area, why not get them into the culinary arts?

COOK! Classes for kids were the inspiration for Disney/Pixar animators for the Ratatouille film and director Clint Eastwood for several projects.

Mother daughter-duo Terry and Tracy Paulding founded the company behind the course,  Paulding & Co. They offer courses for 6 to 18 year olds based in their San Francisco Bay area catering kitchen. The camps provide training in everything from basic cooking skills to specialized cuisines, to kitchen science and are designed to give kids the confidence and skills they need to cook for themselves, for friends, and for their families.

Date Night Solutions

6. Mom and dad will have to take some time out to enjoy the wonderful weather alone too sometime this summer. Two apps come in handy to make romantic nights away from parenting a possibility:

Taste Savant is an app which curates restaurants and help savvy divers decide where to eat by checking out the reviews from friends, restaurant critics, bloggers, chefs and other food experts.

7. Urban Sitter.com helps parents find adn book babysitters by reviewing recommendations from people in their own personal social circles and networks.

Together, date night should be a breeze.

Summer Camp Safety Solution

8. If your kid will be among the 11 million going away to camp this year, but has a medical condition or allergies to sleep-over camp, consider arming her with one of Hope Paige‘s line of colorful medical ID bracelets that add funk, flare and style to traditional medical ID bracelets.
The waterproof, durable and fun bracelets are gender neutral enough for boys and girls and will go along way to helping a kid not feel branded.

Fastest growing US baby names reflect changing population: Daleyza, Jayceon & Jurnee

The big news from the United States Social Security Administration‘s list of most popular American names this week isn’t just that for the first time after 14 years, Jacob finally got dethroned as the #1 boy name.  Nope! Beyond the fact that Noah clawed to number 1 this year is what can be learned from the fastest climbing names: that they reflect the changing demographic in the US.

This year, the name Daleyza jumped from number 3,130 on the list to No. 585!  Daleyza is the name of the young daughter of Larry Hernandez, a singer who stars in a mun2 Spanish-language reality TV show called Larrymania.
Hmmm.
Population statisticians predict that by 2050, the Hispanic/Latino-American population, Asian or of two or more races will be the majority of the 17 and under population in the United States.

“In the past, most parents were picking from a pretty well-defined set of names,” Laura Wattenberg, creator of Babynamewizard.com said. “Literally for hundreds of years, the English royal names dominated. You had John and Mary and James and Elizabeth.”

Today, she said, “we get names everywhere.”

RealityTV is a hot spot for picking names.

For boys, Jayceon, a name of two hip hop artists, jumped 845 spots to #206 on the list. Popular rapper “The Game” real name is Jayceon and was featured on a VH1 reality TV show for a few seasons.
“Names have more widely become seen as a personal brand, a statement of individual style and personality, and so people are looking for a name that’s different from what other people have,” Pamela Redmond Satran, co-founder of Nameberry.com  told AP. “In the 1950s, everybody was looking to blend in.”
Among the other top risers for girls: Marjorie, Lennon and Jurnee. Jurnee Smollett-Bell is an actress who starred in the TV show Friday Night Lights and currently stars in Parenthood on ABC.
Among the other top risers for boys: Milan, Atlas, Jayse and Duke.

Idris Elba & Eric Benet: Celebrity men who’ve shared photos of their breastfeeding partners in social media

First Eric Benet in 2012 and now Idris Elba in 2014.

In April, Elba welcomed his first child with partner makeup artist Naiyana Garth and last Saturday, he posted a photo on his Twitter account of little Winston innocently flipping the bird while breastfeeding with the hilarious caption, “I’ve been drinking, I’ve been drinking…Drunk in Milk” as a parody to a lyric in Beyonce‘s song “Drunk in Love” off her last self-titled album.
Funny stuff!
A couple years prior, in January 2012,singer Eric Benet (Halle Berry‘s ex-husband) also shared a photo (which has since been deleted) of his wife Manuela Testloni on Instagram also nursing their daughter Lucia  while she was unknowingly holding up the universal sign for peace.
Both celebrity men shared the photo because they found amusement in the finger gesture their respective babies’ were holding up when they snapped the pic, not knowing, perhaps or thinking in doing so, they would be de facto advocates for breastfeeding.
In fact, back in 2012,  Eric’s share sparked a bunch of controversy, online discussion and some public shaming of public breast exposure during breastfeeding. If it’s taboo when its seen in the general public, it’s become doubly taboo when shown in social media for many more to see. It’s a topic which we’ve seen come alive again recently when last March 2013, a famous athlete’s model girlfriend did the same thing and was virtually shamed off the web, accused of doing it out of pure vanity, not for the purpose of promoting nursing.
It looks like we may have evolved since 2012 and/or the vocal opponents to such natural images are realizing to keep their trap shut and deal with it and/or the image got buried in all the other news items that have been dominating our minds and news feeds.
Anyhooo. All are sweet and endearing and we encourage more of this type of sharing by celebs to help destigmatize public breastfeeding.
Kudos Idris and Winston (and mama Naiyana, of course)!
Winston is Elba’s second child; he has a daughter, Isan, from a previous marriage to Dormowa Sherma.

4 Mother’s Day Mom Memes

BELLYITCH REWIND- Thought I’d repost this past post about Moms for Mother’s Day. Enjoy:Have you seen(and possibly have gotten tired of) the “What People Think I do/What I really do” meme that has been circulating on Facebook, Google Plus and other forms of social media?  Google it! But in a nutshell, it started as a visual of 6 selected images representing what society, parents, friends, etc think  people in a specific profession do and the last image is one that represents what they really do.  Often times, reality is something that is farthest from perception. The meme has expanded to include other categories beyond just jobs people hold. They are usually funny, mainly to those people in that profession or role.

You can check out a collection of nearly 1,000 of them HERE!

I managed to gather four I’ve seen online that deal with mothers. Enjoy! (click the images to enlarge)

2014 Met Ball Red Carpet Trends as worn by celebrity moms

Among the A-List celebs strutting their looks on the red carpet to this year’s Met Ball were several of our Bellyitch alum moms last night, May 5.
There was a departure from the traditional avante garde fair this year given the theme “Charles James: Beyond Fashion”, named after the newest exhibit at the museum. It allowed the ladies to do old Hollywood glam, which is safer and more feminine for the annual gala put on by the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and produced by Vogue editor-in-chief Ana Wintour.

The actual exhibit featured vintage old and recent Hollywood red carpet and other formal evening dresses worn by major US and international stars.
We saw some trends starting with the traditional trains, as spotted on Beyonce in a Givenchy dress and shoes adorned with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry; and on Charlize Theron in a black and white Dior dress worn with Fred Leighton jewels.

Actress Lake Bell held it down for the pregnant ladies in Tomy Hillfiger while Ivanka Trump did an earthy pattern in Oscar de la Renta.

Event co-chair Sarah Jessica Parker also wore Oscar de la Renta in a black and white ball gown while Victoria Beckham went as herself, in a sleek strapless Victoria Beckham evening dress.

Dark colors were seen on Marion Cotilliard in Christian Dior and Kim Kardashian in a sateen teal Lanvin evening dress with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Metallic and Silver were worn by singer Lily Allen in Chanel Couture, model Lily Aldridge in Michael Kors and Nicole Richie in Donna Karan Atalier

Going with bold color was Katie Holmes in a full sunny gown by  Marchesa and Reese Witherspoon looking polished and pretty in Stella McCartney.
