On Friday morning, tennis champ Serena Williams took to Instagram to let it be known that for the next six weeks, she, her husband Alexis Ohanian and 2-year-old daughter Olympia will be self quarantined.
“Spending the next 6 weeks in solitude. Being a wife. Being a mom. Cooking. Cleaning. Spring cleaning. Face mask. Makeup tutorials. I’ll let you know how it goes…. stay safe everyone. This is serious.”
It’s Father’s Day weekend and a few celebrity dads who became fathers for the first time will be enjoying their first celebratory holiday Morrow. This list includes:
John Stamos waited until his 50s to become a dad. The Full Housestar and wife Caitlin McHugh welcomed son Billy in April
Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian welcomed daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. with his wife Serena Williams this year.
Also, rock star Enrique Iglesias and his wife Anna Kournikovaquietly welcomed twins, his first children, after keeping the entire pregnancy secret.
Rapper Travis Scott and his girlfriend also kept their pregnancy under wraps until the end when he and Kylie Jenner become parents to daughter Stormi this February.
Reality TV star, game show host and recording artist Ray J and his wife Princess Love welcomed their first child, daughter Melody Love, together.
Serena Williams left tennis at the top. She was the No. 1 player in the world when she took her maternity leave more than a year ago, coming off of an Australian Open win. She missed 13 months, and now she’s back. The problem? She’s unranked, and she’s entering this week’s Miami Open as an unseeded player against Naomi Osaka, who won at Indian Wells, where Williams just played her first event in over a year.
Miami Open tournament director James Blake — once ranked as high as No. 4 in the world — doesn’t think it’s fair to punish Williams so severely for taking time off tennis to become a mother, and he’s making it clear as Williams prepares for Wednesday’s match.
“It makes sense to protect someone who goes on maternity leave,” Blake said, via BBC. “The rules should help her get the benefit of an easier draw and a better path. These kind of things shouldn’t happen. She has won this title so many times that she needs protection. It’s not as if she left because of injury and lost her passion for the game. She had a kid, which we should all be celebrating, so when she comes back there should be a grace period where she can still be seeded.”
“It’s a kind of punishment, which is tough,” Blake continued, per the Washington Post.“I hope they revisit those talks, although it will be too late for her unless she decides to have another child.”
Like many celebrity babies these days (Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.,Ace Tucker and others), Twins Ronald DeVoe III and Roman Elijah DeVoe have a joint Instagram with thousands of followers.
The infant boys’ parents are New Edition and BBD original member Ronnie DeVoe and one third of the 90s Gir R&B group Blaque, Shamari DeVoe.
They are quite handsome!!
One of the boys, this one below, looks just like his daddy.
I cannot tell which one he is because the famous parents have chosen to refer to the boys as the DevoeTwins in social media.
They are not sharing their individual names on their page or in any other online references.
A lot of twins, later in life, lament on always being referred to as “twin”, and being denied an individual identity.
I want the DeVoe Twins to have an independent identity. I’m sure they have one at home.
Anyway, this decision to control access to the kids is great for branding the boys. It is similar to how Mariah Careyo and Nick Cannon branded their twins, Morocco and Monroe, as “DemBabies”.
Serena Williams has announced that she plans to defend her Australian Open championship title in 2018.
In the meantime, she and fiancé Alexis Ohanian have been showing off photos of their 7-week old adorable daughter, Alexis Ohanian Jr. on Instagram.
“Say what,” the proud parents captioned an adorable chubby cheeked photo on Jr’s page.
The new dad also Instagrammed an image toting their tot.
“Mon petit chou,” he wrote.
Williams also recently surveyed her fans on IG stories asking them to share what they got as push presents.
Williams confirmed during a recent press event that she will play the Jan. 15-28 competition to defend her title at the Australian Open.
It should be expected.
During the TED 2017 Conference in Vancouver, Williams earlier this year, she told Gayle King, “I definitely plan on coming back. I’m not done yet. If [my sister Venus Williams is] still playing, I know I can play. This is just a new part of my life. My baby’s going to be in the stands and hopefully cheering for me.”
Ever since Serena Williams and her fiance Alexis Ohaniancreated an Instagram page for their newborn daughterAlexis Ohanian, Jr, we’ve been waiting for it to get verified status!
We checked and now the sweet gorgeous baby girl, whose initials are AO, same as the initials of the Tennis Grand Slam championship her mom won while pregnant with her, Austrialian Open, has been verified.
With this status, the baby girl follows behind singer and dancer Teyana Taylor and NBA’s Cleveland Cavalier player Imani Shumpert ‘s daughter Iman Tayla Shumpert Jr who not only has had a verified account since a baby but is also a female junior, named after her dad — just like Alexis! (Great trend!)
Other celebrity babies with verified Instagram pages include reality TV star, singer and businesswoman Kandi Burruss‘s son Ace Wells Tucker; record-breaking winning Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps; son Boomer Phelps and, Chanel, daughter to reality TV star Cocoa Austin and her husband Ice T.
Alexis Jr already has close to 70,000 followers already and is right behind Ace Tucker who had over 100,000 when he was just 8 weeks old.

That adorable cherubic doll was followed by the star of the Olympics coverage, Boomer Phelps. The son to swimming legend Michael Phelps and his fiance Nicole Johnson has over 630,000 followers on his verified page.
Those two have set the bar a bit higher for other popular celebrity babies with major followings like Ace and Baby Chanel, daughter to Cocoa Austin and Ice T.

By the way, this Tennis fan claims to have predicted the name and she may be right because she has receipts to prove that Alexis follows her tweets! Nice!
