Beyonce is like us: use Flashback  Friday on social media as a excuse to share not -so-old cute pics just because..

This Friday, the second time mom-to-be shared photos of the outfit she wore to Jessica Alba‘s MJ & Prince– themed party that was held on April 28.

In the photo series, the mega star sported an Any Old Iron and a super cute Philosophy by Alberta Ferretti Mini dress accented by a Saint Laurent bag, and Chloe shoes with a Gladys Tamez hat and rings by XIV Karats.

Bey and husband Shawn “Jay Z” Carter are expecting their second and third child, twins!

I prefer the mini dresses but have enjoyed all her maternity looks so far.

It’s Not New that Gossip Rags Make up Celeb Pregnancies to Sell Mags

o-jen-570

Gossip Cop has noticed that the tabloid regularly make up stories about celebrities being pregnant when they aren’t actually are. Star, OK! and Life & Style are notorious for such headlines. It’ s not new though and these made up headlines are the predecessor to online click bait articles written with false or anonymous sources to sell to audiences but it was interesting to take note of Gossip Cop’s recent roundup.

The site pointed out Star’s new cover announcing  “miracle baby at 47” for Gwen Stefani. It also blasted the current issue of OK! declaring, Chris [Pratt] & Ann a [Farris]Baby Joy!” about Chris Pratt and Anna Faris expecting their second child.  “source” was quoted as telling the magazine, “Anna is simply glowing right now and it looks like she has a tiny baby bump.” The article claimed the couple went to counseling to save their marriage, after which they supposedly decided to expand their family. But the tabloid had previously fabricated those relationship problems, and this pregnancy was invented, too. Reps for both Faris and Pratt told Gossip Cop there was “no truth to any part of this cover story.”

And finally, it took note of  Life & Style’s story pronouncing that Jennifer Lopez is expecting with her new beau Alex Rodgriguez.  “J. Lo & A-Rod: They’re Having A Boy!” the mag declared of the “miracle baby at 47.”The piece claimed Jennifer Lopez was pregnant with a baby boy and already decorating a baseball-themed nursery, while Alex Rodriguez was narrowing down possible names. “She’s super excited about having his son. She’s not showing yet, but she can’t wait to get a baby bump,” an “insider” supposedly alleged.

Gossip Cop’s inquiry withe the rep revealed that the story was “not true.”

Bellyitch has posted it a bit in the past about how much stars like Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston and others are falsely accused of being pregnant after a hearty meal, wearing an  ill-fitting outfit or carrying their purse in front of their belly. Most times, it is nothing.

As we posted in 2010, 2013, 2015 and again in 2016,  Aniston is the most speculated celeb of all Time!

Inside Beyonce’s West African-Themed ‘Push Party’ Not Baby Shower

img_6330

You might have heard of “Push Presents” and a Baby shower party to celebrate an impending arrival, but leave it to megastar Beyonce to have Push Party!

The multi-award winning recording artist starred in the festive West African themed affair held at a private residence in Beverly Hills, California.

Guests came dressed in colorful headdresses including some from Burkinabaé and also in gelées, kufis, and Ankara styles.

img_6331

The guest of honor herself donned a  cropped African print top and garrah with her head wrap common in Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Gambia and Sierra Leone which she accented with henna tattoos on her belly, a pregnant lady trend we’ve posted about in the past. Her oversize authentic bamboo fan earrings and jewelry all area native to West African costumes.

In Instagram posts Bey’s mom Tina Lawson shared on line, guests included Serena Williams, our Bumpwatch Alum Kelly Rowland who dressed in a Batik tie-dyed off-the-shoulder halter top and slim skirt, LaLa Anthony and another alum Vanessa Bryant also in a Burkinabaé head wrap and jeweler Lorraine Schwartz.

Black and White photos circulating on the Internet showed the venue decorated in African fabric as music from the late Nigerian artist Fela Kuti.

Also, her husband Rapper Jay Z was spotted dancing and having a ball.

We imagine a push party did not involve giving of gifts.

Or it could mean she’s closer to pushing than we think   Her mom was spotted at Cedars-Sinai hospital in LA this week.

Back to the fete:The guests posted photos of the festivities on each of their respective Social media feeds using the hashtag #CarterPushParty. Check them out.

Beyonce’s Publicist Had to Set The Blogs Straight on Lip Filler Rumors

img_5525
Recent photos Beyonce has posted of herself reveal that her lips are a lot fuller than usual.

When gossip Blogs started to report on suggestions that she was using lip fillers,  Bey’s  longtime publicist Yvette Noel-Schure set one straight.

In a sternly written letter to Media Take out, Noel-Schure set the site whose writers clearly know-nothing about pregnancy straight:

“What do you know about the effects of pregnancy on a woman’s entire body? Please tell me. Did you know that in addition to weight gain there is often a dramatic change in the blood flow in the system and increased fluid causing swelling? Do you know that often women’s gums get swollen? Do you know that it sometimes affects our speech, our ability to chew intently and a host of other things?”

img_5523

Damn straight! Wait! There is more! She continued:

“But the sacrifice to our faces, our feet and our entire bodies is something we welcome because we bring beautiful humans into the world who will one day combat your hate and negativity. I stood silent during Beyoncé’s first pregnancy when you thought it was okay to bully her like the cowards you are, when you accused her of never being pregnant, but I simply cannot this time.”

img_5524

She polished off the read:

“You are the saddest individuals and picking on a pregnant lady is tantamount to possessing the coldest, despicable heart. You need to find something else to do with your time and maybe stop by a store that has happiness on sale because you need to buy some.”

Yes! Yes and Yes!!

Just like I would have read them

bump-watch

Serena Williams is having a very social week. A day after making her red carpet baby bump debut, the tennis champ attended the launch of the Burberry DK88 Bag hosted by Christopher Bailey at Burberry Soho on May 2, 2017 in New York City.

Whitney Port is finally coming from under the exhaustion spell of pregnancy. She posted a photo of herself looking happy and well…energetic on her Instagram account recently.

FINALLY feeling that ?? energy! How are all you pregnant ladies staying fit?! ?: @emboslice_

Her fellow MTV The Hills alum co-star Lauren Conrad has been laying low but was spotted  at designer Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2017 ‘See Now, Buy Now’ Fashion Show on February 4, 2017 earlier in her pregnancy.

And another MTV family alum, Heidi Pratt showed off her bump with her hubby Spencer Pratt this week. “Sunday Fun. The 3 of Us,” she captioned an Instagram photo of the growing family.

Meanwhile, Beyonce has been busy making news as well. She appeared at her mom Tina Knowles Lawson and step dad Richard Lawson‘s charity fundraiser to support the WACO Theater Center in California. The event called the Inaugural Wearable Art Gala raised $1M, according to a recent post  by Beyonce. It is reminiscent of the Met Ball, which also encourages attendees to wear artistic renditions of clothing or vice versa, wear art like clothes.

Meanwhile, Bey released the collector’s edition of her multi-award winning visual album, “Lemonade.” The box set will set you back $300 but it comes with behind the scenes photos, prints of Beyonce’s personal hand written notes drafted during the creation of the project and much more.

Speaking of Beyonce [See earlier post today], Easter may be over but that hasn’t stopped the Queen Bey from sharing pics that she took from her and her family’s Easter adventure. The videos and pics include photos of herself in a white dress matching with her daughter Blue Ivy. The duo are wearing matching braided cornrows with beads on the end. Blue wears real bunny ears and the pop star uses her two fingers to simulate rabbit ears.

Beyonce Knowles Carter and her husband, rapper and biz mogul Shawn “Jay Z” Carter are expecting a pair of twins later this year. They are parents to 5-year old Blue, the first child for them both. Unlike with Blue Ivy, she has been taking and sharing a lot more photos of her pregnancy and herself out and about at events. It’s refreshing and perfect for the BumpWatch Brigade like this blog! Beyonce’s ‘Lemonade’ Just Won the Prestigious ‘Peabody Award’ on the Visual Album’s 1 year Anniversary

img_4946

Yesterday, the Internet was celebrating the one year anniversary of the release of Beyoncé’s powerful HBO visual album “Lemonade” on April 23.

There was more reasons to celebrate as last week, the pop diva’s well-received and critically acclaimed project won a prestigious Peabody Award.

The Peabody Awards are for excellence in journalism; and annually a body of jurors,  consisting of TV and Film producers, news magazine editors, critics and college professors, review a slate of nominees and select only 30 for the honor of a recognition.

This year, 12 Entertainment projects were awarded honors. Of the 12 recipients, two are music documentaries.

About Lemonade, the announcement read:

“The audacity of its reach and fierceness of its vision challenges our cultural imagination, while crafting a stunning and sublime masterpiece about the lives of women of color and the bonds of friendship seldom seen or heard in American popular culture.”

Congrats! Incubating two humans and racking up awards. You go mama-to-be!

My other fave, Donald Glover, won a Peabody for his FX series Atlanta.

I am also a fan of Ava DuVarney and was happy to see her documentary “13th” was also recognized.

Finally, as a life long lover of Hip Hop music, I found it also very noteworthy that Banger Film’s documentary “Hip Hop Revolution” also won!

In its 76th year, Peabody Awards honor excellence in radio, television and other forms of electronic media. The winners for News, Radio/Podcast, Children’s, Education and Public Service categories will be announced on April 25th. The ceremony takes place on May 20th at Cipriani Wall Street in New York.

Authors: Sorry to Rain on Your Twin Obsession Parade, But Twins Are Risky, Period

twins-1628843_1280

Twins are always considered a blessing and lately, they’ve been getting even more glorification, especially with celebs like Beyonce and Amal Clooney making recent headlines for the fact they are carrying twins.

But as with any celebration, there are those who will swoop in to offer a reality check. Like one Daily Mail columnist, Jill Foster, herself a mom, who wrote about how twin pregnancies are high risk and come with a boat load of additional concerns, cautions and care that mom (and dad) must undertake.

“Multiple births are fraught with risk, no matter how rich you are,” Foster writes in a recent column. “Carrying my twin girls was the most arduous and terrifying thing I’ve done — and the professionals agree with me.”

She quotes consultant obstetrician and gynecologist Shazia Malik, a sub-specialist in reproductive medicine at London’s Portland Hospital, who said that “people underestimate the risks of a multiple pregnancy.”

There is a risk “of miscarriage, stillbirth or pre-term birth is around five times higher than a singleton pregnancy. Once premature babies are born, they may spend several weeks or even months in Special Care and may have growth restriction, brain damage, problems with vision and later have developmental delay,” Malik said.

She adds: “There’s a higher risk to the mother, too, of developing gestational diabetes and pre-eclampsia, which could lead to death.”

Foster says her identical twin daughters were conceived without medical intervention but that she went thru her pregnancy in fear because her twins developed in the same sac, increasing the chances of dual death were something to go wrong.

“At 11 weeks’ pregnant, I’d learned that the babies were growing in the same amniotic sac. Called a mono-amniotic pregnancy, it meant their umbilical cords could easily become entwined and strangulated.

“Not even one baby would survive if this happened. They would live or die together, and death would be sudden or spontaneous. I lived my pregnancy on a knife edge. It seemed sensible to only tell my closest family and friends.”

She also thinks she suffered post partum depression which is common among moms of multiples.

According to the Twins and Multiple Birth Association (TAMBA), mothers of multiples have almost twice the average risk of postnatal depression and it tends to last longer and can still require treatment up to seven years after the birth.

Then there are the myths of twin pregnancies.  In a new book Twin Mythconceptions: False Beliefs, Fables, and Facts about TwinsDr. Nancy L. Segal attempts to bust over 70 myths regarding twin pregnancies.

Here are some of the top 10 Myths, (many of which we have blogged about before here on Bellyitch), Dr. Segal has identified:

the “Top 10” myths or beliefs about twins, which include:

  • Identical twins can communicate by extrasensory perception or ESP (False)

o   There is no scientific evidence that twins exchange thoughts or ideas by reading each other’s minds—identical twins’ social closeness is better explained by studies showing that their common genes underlie their within-pair communication skills.

  • Older mothers are more likely to conceive fraternal twins than younger mothers (True)

o   Since releasing two eggs at the same time is not typical, this is possibly a reflection of the aging process.

  • Identical twins have identical fingerprints (False)

o   These features, which develop between the 10th and 25th gestational week, are affected by factors such as temperature, intrauterine position and density of amniotic fluid near the fingers.

  • Your consumption of yams and other dietary choices increase the chances of conceiving fraternal twins (True)

o   It is thought that the white yam contains fertility-inducing properties that trick the female body into releasing hormones that promote ovulation–this may partly explain the high fraternal twinning rate among the Yorùbá of western Nigeria.

Dr. Segal is currently Professor of Psychology at California State University, Fullerton and Director of the Twin Studies Center. She has authored more than 200 scientific articles and book chapters, as well as four highly acclaimed books on twins.

The moral of the story is celebrate twin births. Admire them. Dote on moms carrying twins. Offer help and support to family and friends who deliver twins, especially afterwards, given the higher PPD risk. But certainly, be very aware that they are risky pregnancies and deserve extra care and consideration before venturing into IVF in hopes of carrying them if you cannot conceive a set without medical intervention. Don’t let these celebrities out here lull you into a fairy tale la la land.
