Atlanta Director Actor Donald Glover Welcomed His Second Child, Another Son

Fern is a daddy again! Well, not really Fern but the actor behind the Atlanta character, Donald Glover, who welcomed a second son with his girlfriend Michelle.

The Emmy and Golden Globe director, producer and actor confirmed the news to PEOPLE magazine during the upfronts for FX this week.

“I think my partner, she does all the hard stuff, to be honest,” he announced during the annual event where programming networks roll out their upcoming shows for the press. “She’s just very supportive. I haven’t really had to change anything. But it’s given me definitely another perception on what life is. It gives me a lot of context.”

The actor, 34, told Entertainment Tonight that his girlfriend Michelle is doing well.

“She’s great. She’s good,” Glover, who goes by the recording artist name “Childish Gambino” , told ET Friday. “Baby’s born, so she’s happier now.”

The baby joins big brother, Legend.

No other details, including the baby’s name and birth date, have been released. The star said fatherhood hadn’t changed but that he’s excited about the addition to his family.

Is this Kendrick Lamar’s Subliminal Confirmation of His Fatherhood?

I blogged about Kendrick Lamar’s wife and high school sweetheart Whitney Alford possibly being pregnant, recently, because this is a celebrity”bump watch” blog after all. I gave the hat tip to another high profile blog that mentioned. That news has never been confirmed by the very private rap star.

In fact, it is very difficult to find a photo of him and on the net.I found some though, cause I’m a snoop like that! ha!

They do an excellent job of staying low key and off the radar. I think it rivals that of one of my other fave rappers, Childish Gambino.

He too managed to keep two whole pregnancies and births virtually under wraps.  The artist who is also the Emmy-winning actor and director of the F/X show Atlanta chose to share his news the way he wanted to: in a cryptic thank you message to his unborn second son and the mother of his first child.

Cool.

I was watching the video for Kendrick’s newest video, “Love” and I couldn’t help but notice that a pregnant woman, who slightly resembles his wife was sitting behind him to the right in one of the final scenes of the video.

The song itself, many have hypothesized, is a love note to his wife, and it shows a tender and sensitive side often not shown among rappers…not named Drake.

But any event, I really dug the visuals of the video which was flagged by YouTube for sensitive content – meh. Artistic portrayals of the female human form will do that to a filter, I guess! ha!

‘Atlanta’ Actor/Producer Donald Glover Had his First Child in Spring; Didn’t Tell A Soul

As actor Donald Glover rose in fame and popularity, he became even more and more private. So private that he deleted all of his social media posts except the trailer for his new FX channel TV show, Atlanta.

So, it comes as no surprise that he and his girlfriend had a baby in May and no-one knew…until now that the media randomly caught wind.

US Weekly reports that people spotted him and his mystery woman at a grocery store in Hawaii  in January this year with her looking about 7 to 8 months pregnant.

In May, she was seen pushing a baby stroller. Doh!

Glover grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness in Stone Mountain, Georgia and is best known for his role at Troy on the hit NBC TV show Community, and as a comedian. He also wrote for the hit NBC TV show 30Rock for several years and has a successful rap career as his alter ego Childish Gambino.

I love his FX show which is about a Princeton University student who drops out, who life as an unemployed drifter with his ex-girlfriend and their baby and tries to become rich by managing his up and coming rapper cousin, Paper Boi.

He’s told multiple press outlets that he didn’t attempt to make a hit show when he pitched and got Atlanta greenlit.

Atlanta is a Trojan horse,” Glover told Timemagazine in August. “The thesis was: How do we make people feel black? It turned into something more attainable than that, but that was the idea. I was like, ‘Let’s make something that shouldn’t be on the air, something controversial.’ If it’s canceled in 10 episodes, I’ll be happy with those episodes.”

Since becoming a fan of the show which Glover stars in, produces and writes, I’ve gone back to check out his stand up, music and past videos and have become obsessed fan. The boy has serious talent!

Congrats to him and his new family. We wish them all the success in the world!
