Congrats to actress Tatyana Ali and her husband Dr. Vaughn Rasberry who are expecting their second child.
The 40-year old best known for her role as Ashley Banks of the popular 90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air announced the news on Instagram
“I was on a work trip recently and I thought it was about time I captured my baby bump. We’re so excited!” Ali captioned the photo of her cradling her bump.
She added: “They say every pregnancy is different and they ain’t lying. Phew! I’m exhausted this go round, swirling with emotion and starving, like constantly. Feeling very blessed. #BabyRasberry,” she added.
Ali and Rasberry are parents to 2½-year-old son Edward Aszard. The couple met on eHarmony about 2 years before marrying.
You know we love actor Lance Gross‘ photography work, especially his images capturing his girlfriend when she was expecting their first child together. He has since photographed several pregnant celebrities and more recently, he turned his lens onto actress and brand new first-time mom Tatyana Ali for an Essence magazine spread.
Ali relied on the styling talents of her friend, celeb stylist Monique Lauren, and paid tribute to her roots including her native Trinidad and Panamanian roots. Her mom is from Panama and her dad from Trinidad and is of Indian descent. She wore an Indian sari and ethnic Panamanian jewelry in her shoot.
“I love this photo by@lancegross. The necklace is my mother’s, a chaquira from Panamá. The sari is my own, from India,” she captioned photos she shared this week on Instagram. “We wanted to pay homage to both of my backgrounds. Styling by my friend @iammoniquelaurenand @chrisgees. Now that my son is in my arms- it’s so nice to have this. I loved being pregnant. #bumplife”
Actress Tatyana Ali has decided to keep the sex of her soon-to-be born baby a surprise. That’s different, isn’t it?
“We have chosen to keep the sex of our child a surprise. The only person who knows is our doctor,” the Harvard graduate told PEOPLE.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air alum said her family and friends are not on board with their plans to wait to find out the gender of her first child with fiance Dr. Vaughn Rasberry who she met online.
“Friends and family have so much to say about our choice,” she adds,” but we wouldn’t have it any other way. It is so much fun to have people guessing and betting when they are around us.”
Not knowing also means not imposing their own dreams or societal standards on their baby, Ali mused.
“If we knew the sex, we might decide things about our baby’s future that we have no right to decide — that our little boy will love athletics like his father, or our little girl should be sent to dance school like I was when I was young,” she said. “We may unwittingly predetermine a course for our child that is ridiculous or just plain wrong.”
Actress and first-time mom-to-be Tatyana Ali talked pregnancy and her wedding engagement while promoting her latest TV project during an appearance on Fox KTLA last week.
“I feel like it’s going so fast,” the Fresh Prince of Bel Air alum said about her pregnancy during the broadcast. “I have to take pictures of everything and record everything.”
When she announced the pregnancy, the singer also shared news that she is engaged to Dr. Vaughn Rasberry, a professor she met in an online dating site and it’s been a whirlwind ever since. The wedding is planned for this Summer and baby is due this Fall.
About planning the wedding in a short amount of time, she said, “It’s going along well…same chaos that everyone else experiences. I thought, ‘Oh we don’t need a year. It’ll be fine.’ There are so many things to do.”
You can catch Ali during the airing of TVOne movieSecond Sightshe a where she portrays an unknowing clairvoyant school teacher who gets haunting premonitions that one of her students will be abducted.
“She feels like she’s losing her mind. Everyone around her thinks she’s crazy,” Ali said. “I love the story because it’s really about a woman learning to trust herself, and her instincts, and to fight for what she knows is really going on.”
Second Sight aired of TVOne yesterday Saturday night at 8ET/5PST but will repeat. Check your local listings for when it comes on again.
Listen to the end and you’ll hear one of the broadcasters refer to her as “Ashley Banks” , the character she is best known for portraying on that 90s show with Will Smith.
