It’s Not New that Gossip Rags Make up Celeb Pregnancies to Sell Mags

Gossip Cop has noticed that the tabloid regularly make up stories about celebrities being pregnant when they aren’t actually are. Star, OK! and Life & Style are notorious for such headlines. It’ s not new though and these made up headlines are the predecessor to online click bait articles written with false or anonymous sources to sell to audiences but it was interesting to take note of Gossip Cop’s recent roundup.

The site pointed out Star’s new cover announcing “miracle baby at 47” for Gwen Stefani. It also blasted the current issue of OK! declaring, Chris [Pratt] & Ann a [Farris]Baby Joy!” about Chris Pratt and Anna Faris expecting their second child. “source” was quoted as telling the magazine, “Anna is simply glowing right now and it looks like she has a tiny baby bump.” The article claimed the couple went to counseling to save their marriage, after which they supposedly decided to expand their family. But the tabloid had previously fabricated those relationship problems, and this pregnancy was invented, too. Reps for both Faris and Pratt told Gossip Cop there was “no truth to any part of this cover story.”

And finally, it took note of Life & Style’s story pronouncing that Jennifer Lopez is expecting with her new beau Alex Rodgriguez. “J. Lo & A-Rod: They’re Having A Boy!” the mag declared of the “miracle baby at 47.”The piece claimed Jennifer Lopez was pregnant with a baby boy and already decorating a baseball-themed nursery, while Alex Rodriguez was narrowing down possible names. “She’s super excited about having his son. She’s not showing yet, but she can’t wait to get a baby bump,” an “insider” supposedly alleged.

Gossip Cop’s inquiry withe the rep revealed that the story was “not true.”

Bellyitch has posted it a bit in the past about how much stars like Beyonce, Jennifer Aniston and others are falsely accused of being pregnant after a hearty meal, wearing an ill-fitting outfit or carrying their purse in front of their belly. Most times, it is nothing.

As we posted in 2010, 2013, 2015 and again in 2016, Aniston is the most speculated celeb of all Time!

No One Knew Emily Blunt was Pregnant While Filming ‘The Girl On The Train’

When Emily Blunt was filming The Girl On The Train — in which she plays a ravaged, emotionally unstable alcoholic in a permanent state of listlessness and confusion — her co-stars became worried that she was living the role.

‘I was really tired all the time, which is not my normal self, and people thought I’d begun drinking heavily, just to get into character,’ she says.

‘I don’t think I’ve ever played someone who is in such a dark place and truly in the depths of despair.

‘But it wasn’t the part I was playing that made it such a struggle to keep going; what no one knew was that I’d just found out I was pregnant with my second child, but I was determined not to let anyone think I was using that as an excuse.’

The only person on set who knew was Justin Theroux, who plays her ex-husband in his first major movie role. Emily and Justin — married to Jennifer Aniston — are old friends. ‘And he only guessed because I was being a bit of a wuss about some of my scenes, which isn’t like me at all.

‘He said: ‘You’ve done other tough roles before — you battled aliens in Ju. What’s wrong with you? Are you pregnant or something?’

‘I said: ‘Well, yes I am, but don’t tell anyone.’ Eventually, I had to tell the director, Tate Taylor, when we filmed a scene where I am in the bath, and I told him: ‘You have to shoot it from behind.’ When he asked why, I showed him my expanding tummy and said: ‘Because of this.’ By the time filming finished, I was 20 weeks gone!’

London-born Emily, who is married to U.S. actor John Krasinski, gave birth to baby Violet — a sister to two-year-old Hazel — at the end of June.

When the restaurateur isn’t throwing a big bash for kids and parents, she and her husband Justin Timberlake are hosting $30,000 a ticket Hillary Clinton fundraiser luncheons in their Hollywood Hills home, attended by the likes of Shonda Rhimes, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Aniston and Tobey McGuire.

For the 100th Time, Jennifer Aniston is Forced to Deny Pregnancy Rumors

Jennifer Aniston continues to be the celebrity who gets the most speculation over whether she is pregnant or not? This week is no different. In Touch magazine printed an article suggesting that the Friends alum and her actor husband Justin Theroux (The Leftovers) were expecting a “miracle baby.”

To prove the point, the cover photo was one of many pics paparazzi took of the couple while they vacationed on a beach in The Bahamas recently.

All we have to say is this: We wish our bellies looked that toned and firm at age 47 in a bikini.

To shut down the rumor, Aniston was photographed last Wednesday June 15th looking svelte than ever. Her rep said the slight budge was because the Mother’s Day star had eaten a big meal right before heading to the beach.

Makes Sense! Leave Jen alone. Even though, we understand a lot of people in her uterus know she wanted to have children and want her to have them really bad so they cannot help themselves. Right?

Jennifer Aniston is less than a few weeks married to fellow actor Justin Theroux and she is already getting fresh new allegations of being preggers.

This time the National Enquirer Enquirer alleges that the Horrible Bosses star is expecting twins.

It’s not like this isn’t the 50th time or anything.

Writer suggests society bans ‘Bump Watch’

In 2007, I wrote a blog post about the “Bump Watch” phenomenon, generally, discussing it in context of when the tabloids, public and media are wrong. In 2010, I wrote about how Jennifer Aniston is the most bump watched female celebrity even though she’s never been pregnant. At the same time, I was one of the early blogs that speculated in a post as to whether Jennifer Lopez was pregnant given her choice of dress during a concert. (I was right).

I am in that space so I get the fascination. And we here at Bellyitch have a long-standing ongoing “bump watch” tradition of following and covering celebrity preganancies.

I do, also, recognize that people hate the term “bump watch” as well as “bump” and “baby bump.” It’s cool. No scene.

However, I think writer Rachel Kramer Bussel was going a weeee bit too far in her recent Salon commentary where she called bump watch anti-feminist and suggested we, as a society, should ban bump watch.

*Clutch the pearls!*

Bussel’s piece was a bit rambling and read like a stream of consciousness rant but I understand her thesis: the incessant watching of and obsession over a woman’s pooch is offensive and reductive of her value to society outside of procreating.

In her post, Bussel bemoans how insulting it is when women are asked if they are pregnant when they may have just had one too many chicken wings the night before.

I can dig it, right. I support women’s liberation and rights. I am a woman after all and I do and have benefited from all the work that my feminist and womanist sisters have done over the years.

Notwithstanding all of that…. I still think Bussel goes overboard in her rant.
