Queen Bey was scheduled to perform during the two weekend event but canceled due to her pregnancy.

Kelly RowlandGets Really Raw in her New Book About Pregnancy

whoa-baby

So actress and TV cooking show host Tia Mowry  wrote “Oh Baby“. Celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels penned “Yeah Baby“.  The new celebrity to come out with a book about pregnancy for the first time is multi-Grammy winning artist Kelly Rowland.

Her book, “Whoa, Baby!: A Guide for New Moms Who Feel Overwhelmed and Freaked Out (and Wonder What the #*$& Just Happened)” written with her OB/GYN of 10 years Dr. Tristan Bickman went on sale on Tuesday, April 11.

In it, Rowland shares her candid reactions to pregnancy and motherhood; and dealing with all the surprises that you’re never prepared for until you experience it first hand, even if you read about it before in a book.

The Voice Australia coach discussed the book with USA Today and how she too was duped by the perfect magazine covers with the facade celebs who were fit and trim weeks after giving birth.

The former Destiny’s Child band member wrote: “I just saw a cover that I did for Shape and then I’m looking in the mirror going, ‘Oh, my god this is not the same body. How did this happen?’ And, I had to just keep reminding myself that, ‘You had a baby, Kel.’ But I was hard on myself. I really was.”

And in the interview as with the book, the mom to 2-year old son Titan doesn’t hold back. Nothing’s off the table. Incontinence, vaginal tearing, check! and check!

In the book, she referred to herself looking at her lady parts in the mirror after giving birth”the world’s worst idea!”

Your vajayjay does not look the same for a very long time,” she told openly shared, noting that a friend told her that her husband wouldn’t care. “‘But, I care about it.’ We go to get it all done up and trimmed and waxed and this and that and it’s all swollen and crazy and you’re just wondering what just happened?”

It’s a very raw discussion in the book, it seems. She also talks mom guilt and more. Check out the full interview HERE!

You can pick up your copy of the book HERE!

Weekend Style Roundup: What and Who Celeb Mamas Wore

weekend2

Celebrities don’t really get a chance to dress down and bum it when they have professional photogs aka paparazzi  lurking in every corner capturing their moves.

Some play along like Chrissy Tiegen who balanced daughter Luna Simone on her hip in some super cute Isabel Marant pointed toe ankle booties. I love her warm off the shoulder Nila Lotan sweater and black slim Parker pants. Baby Luna looked super cute too!

Mariah Carey does black snow bunny in her Quilted Moncler Puffer coat. Not in this shot in the collage, she had on a Louis Vuitton scarf and purse.

Jennifer Lopez went low key in a pair of cool Quay sunglasses. She rocked personalized Timberland boots with her nickname, “Jlo” emblazoned on the tongue. She was warm and cozy in a long ribbed Brunello Cucinelli sweater and not seen in this photo, but she was rocking a Hermes bracelet. Very casual chic!

Jessica Alba hoofed it in a a pair of patent leather boots by Church and she toted a fab quilted Valentino handbag with chain strap while hitting the streets recently.

weekend

Kelly Rowland showed off her blunt cut hair while out and about wearing a the utmost fur-lined black jacket (we hope it was faux fur).  Heidi Klum hit the slopes in a coat by Acne and a pair of black with white stars track pants by Chinti and Parker.

Current, first-time mom-to-be Irina Shayk was rocking some colorful Nikelab x Riccardo pants while out and about. It was Givenchy everything else: jacket, sunglasses and purse. Oww!

Granted some of these moms have personal stylists to help them look this fashionable but you can see their personal style through their looks as well. Work it, mamas!

#PhilandoCastile and #AltonSterling: Celeb Moms Who’ve Spoken Out About Killings

candles

Tonight, we’ve reached a tipping point in America as several Dallas police officers were killed during a rally to protest recent police shootings. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those men and women who put their lives at risk daily to protect and serve.

Here is a rundown of what sparked the rally followed by solidarity messages from celeb women we’ve featured on the blog:

Within 48 hours, two black men in “concealed weapon license to carry” states exercising their rights to have guns in their pockets were nonetheless shot and killed by police officers. Both killings, one execution style and the other in front of a 4-year old child during a routine traffic stop, has sparked outrage.

Alton Sterling was selling CDs outside of a grocery store in a high crime neighborhood and exercising his Second Amendment rights as an American, carried a weapon to protect himself. Someone reported to the police that Sterling had it out waving at people and after scuffle with the officers who arrived at the scene and eventually took Sterling down, another took out his revolver and emptied a couple of rounds into Sterling’s body before falling off the man’s chest and shooting a few more shots. The store owner and another eyewitness filmed the shootings on their smartphones and circulated it on social media. The outrage has been swift.

That same night, another man, Philando Castile, was driving with his girlfriend Diamond Reynolds and her 4-year old daughter in the backseat when he was pulled over for a busted tail light. Diamond turned on her Facebook Live and shared the incident as it happened with her followers on the social media site. The world was witness to the moments immediately after one officer shot him as he reached into his pocket to pull out his driver’s license as asked to do so by the officer, per Reynold’s account. The officer can be overheard on the video saying “ignorance”.

As with other past police killings of unarmed black men and boys, many parents have been shaken by the incident especially parents of young black boys. In social media, many have expressed fear that when their children grow up, they will be seen as menacing threats simply for being in the skin they were born in and could be the next hashtag.

I know personally, I’ve talked to my kids again as my husband and I do periodically throughout their lives to make sure they are aware what they need to do to escape a possible police encounter alive. My father in law is a retired veteran police detective and my husband’s uncle was a police officer. We fear for the lives of blue and believe Blue Lives Matter as well, but at the same time, we are frightened by the pattern of brutality among some officers.

Kelly Rowland covers Parents Mag; Dishes on Becoming a Confident Mom

kelly r

Kelly Rowland and her 1-year old son Titan cover the February edition of Parent magazine. She also dishes about how motherhood has changed her personality and perspectives.

For example, being a mom has made her more patient.

rowland 99

“I am much more laid-back now,” she says. “Being a mom just makes me feel whole.”

The “Motivation”  singer shares that she is also less of a perfectionist, the Destiny’s Child  alum shares.

rowland

“I was nervous that I didn’t have the patience to be a good mom, because before Titan I had zero. But now I am very patient. The Bible verse ‘love is patient’ is real!” the award-winning singer who will star in her own reality TV show on BET called Chasing Destiny soon says. “I don’t make the little things into big issues like I once did…My OCD had to go out the window. My living room looks like a freaking day care!” Motherhood has also allowed the perfectionist to give herself a break when it comes to weight. Her advice to other new moms: “Write on your mirror in lipstick: ‘I had a baby. I’m a superhero.'”

Rowland recently shared a photo of her son taking his first steps and enjoys these milestones tremendously given she no longer has her mom to share them. Shortly after marrying her manager Tim Witherspoon in 2014, Rowland’s mom passed away three weeks later after suffering cardiac arrest. “It was a tough, emotional point for me,” says Rowland. “I remember not wanting to be sad for Titan. I wanted to keep myself together because I believe that all that stress and grief can be passed on to your baby. Knowing Titan needed me, and having that to focus on, helped me through.” She brags that her mom’s friends and other family have stepped up. “I’m closer with all of my girlfriends who are mothers,” she says. “I call them all for advice.” The newly-confident mom is working on her next album in between shooting scenes for Empire but seems to be handling it all well. While her son has gone from crawling to walking to running, she’s also been working on tracks for her next album. It’s thanks to Titan, Rowland says, that she has the “patience and confidence” to juggle it all. “I have always had maternal instincts, but as a mom you figure things out,” she concluded “Now I trust myself and feel stronger, like I can do anything.” Cool beans! Some behind the scenes videos of the shoot can be seen here at Parents.com and on her IG Account.

2015 BET Awards Red Carpet: What & Who Our Star Moms Wore

2015 bet awards

We loved the interesting selections our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums wore on the red carpet last night at the 2015 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater  in Los Angeles, California. As usual, we’re doing our rundown on the designers who outfitted the ladies who walked the red carpet.

Kelly Rowland rocked a black asymmetric feathered mini frock by Lever Couture which featured a mock turtleneck and billowy sleeve cascading from the sleeves with slick back hair. It was a daring and bold move.

Amber Rose came hand in hand with her BFF Blac Chyna, both Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums. Each wore matching white suits and bustiers from lingerie designer La Perla. They even shared a kiss on the red carpet to celebrate the US Supreme Court’s decision which opened the door for gay couples in all states to marry.

Christina Milian also arrived in white. The reality TV star, actress and singer came decked out in a jeweled halter jumpsuit made by Erevos Aether and paired with Ruby Stella jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals. Cayooot!

Ciara made another fab choice by arriving in a plunging neckline Wes Gordon sheer dress made of embroidered metal, accented with minimal jewels and Stuart Weitzan pumps. She arrived with her new beau NFL Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Celebrity moms share first photos of their newborns

Kelly Rowland, Milla Jovovich, Vanessa Lachey, Alicia Keys, Terri Seymour and Liv Tyler showed off the first photos of their newborns in social media and magazines.
There have been a lot of awe-worthy moments of late as many of the celebrity moms we followed while pregnant have been sharing super adorable pics of their newborns in social media.
Gone is the trend when magazines paid top dollar upwards to millions for the first photos of babies born to celebrities. The economy and the advent of social media have dried up the market. Most celebs Instagram or tweet first photos these days.
Not all, however.
For example, new mom singer Kelly Rowland previously had shared obscure and behind the head shots of her newborn son Titan with manager-hubby Tim Witherspoon on social media. Fans can see Titan’s face on the cover and inside the April edition of Essence magazine, on shelves now.
For others, Instagram and Twitter are still the top choice for sharing. Yet, they are still choosing to shield their babies faces perhaps because they plan a full reveal later (in a magazine) or to avoid the sometimes critical and biting commentary from commenters.

Beyonce, early on, only showed photos of her daughter Blue Ivy from the back and so did British singer and TV host Rochelle Humes who shares plenty photos of her daughter Alaia-Mai with her ex-boyband hubby Marvin Humes but only from the back as well
Vanessa Lachey chose Easter to share a photo  on Instagram of her second child, daughter Brooklyn Elisabeth, who is now 3-months old. She wore an adorable white knit rabbit hat and matching bottoms with the cutest bunny tail. It’s not a face pic so there’s still a chance we may see her in a mag soon too. Nick Lachey and Vanessa welcomed their daughter on Jan. 5. She joined big brother Camden John, 2.
Liv Tyler welcomed her son with boyfriend David Garner in February and recently shared a photo on Twitter of herself staring at her son lovingly while holding him.  The Leftovers star is also mom to son Milo with ex-husband Royston Langdon.
Model Milla Jovovich also announced the birth of her second daughter Dashiel Edan Jovovich-Anderson via social media. The Resident Evil actress and her director-movie producer husband Paul W. S. Anderson welcomed their second child on Wednesday, April 1. They are also parents to 7-year old daughter Ever Gabo.
New mom  Terri Seymour too took to Instagram to announcer her daughter’s arrival. The Extra! TV host who is married to 24-year old Brit model Clark Mallon welcomed her first child on on March 9 in Los Angeles and joins the moms having their first baby 40 and over club.
Finally, singer-songwriter-activist Alicia Keys chose Instagram as well to show off a family photo of her son as well.

Kelly Rowland welcomes son, Titan Jewell

Congratulations to Kelly Rowland on the birth of her son, Titan Jewell Witherspoon, with husband Tim Witherspoon.
“We are thrilled to announce that today we are the proud parents of our first son,” the ex Destiny’s Child member said in a statement. “We are blessed to report everyone is healthy and happy!”
Witherspoon and Rowland married in a private ceremony this past May.
The Movitation singer  announced the pregnancy this June in the cutest way on Instagram, showing a pair of man-sized Air Jordan high top sneakers near a baby pair.
Congrats! Blue Ivy has a playmate!
