One of my fave soca artists, Fay-Ann Lyons Alvarez is in my city this weekend. This morning, she debuted her new song on our local CBS affiliate WUSA 9. Tomorrow, and Sunday, she will be headlining other events.
Years ago, back in 2008, when Lyons (a member of soca royalty as her father is veteran soca legend Super Blue) was preggers, I was one of the first news/blogger outlet to post about it. I’m glad I did because that post got tons of traffic years after. It had flown under the radar of most other Caribbean or international music news outlets.
Initially, the two kept their daughter Syri out of the public light, for good reason, but now that she is older, you can see the 8-year old featured often on her and her husband, fellow soca star Bunji Garlin‘s, social media feeds.

This afternoon, Twitter gave me a very curious alert notification letting me know that both Garlin and Lyons, who I follow on that platform, “liked” a certain tweet. This one:

Hmmmm…. I’m not going to point out the fact that her face looks rounder in this morning and other recent performances orthe fact that she is usually outfitted in snug tops and shows off her toned tummy on her Instagram work out videos….or that it looks like she was covering up what looks like a growing bump but….
