Summer is around the corner and as busy and anxious parents prepare for longer days, fun, sun and surf, we’ve rounded up some great products to keep in mind and check out.
1.
Ugly marks from mosquito bites. Whether you or your kid have keloid skin or bruise from the usual rough housing of summer play, bug bites or allergic skin reactions, you may be stuck with a raised bump or scar. We sampled Scar Away’s newest products, including its professional grade Silicone Daily Discs and after applying the round discs on visible scars for a few days, the scars faded, flattened much.
The company that makes the discs also sells the flexi
Scar Sheets that are great for contoured body areas including C-section scars. They sell in 12 week supply.
2. Date Night Solution- For date nights out after having a baby, new moms can feel sexy again wearing one of Avon’s new Body Illusions undergarments with seamless and anti-rolling construction that flattens the tummy and slims the waistline. The shapewear is opaque, machine-washable and made of nylon with spandex.
3. Campers Treat: Here is a cool idea for those of you due this summer.
Tattooest sells temporary tattoos what you can customize with the name of your newborn. They can be given away with your birth announcement card or as a little gift/souvenir to friends and family who come to visit your pretty little miracle. We haven’t personally tested them out, but it seems like a cute idea, even though $252 seems like a lot of money and who knows 100 people who will want to tattoo your baby’s name on their skin? Seems like they should sell in smaller batches just for very close family.
4. For new walkers: If your little one is starting to walk this summer, you’re going to make sure his little footsies are covered and in the right pair of shoes that support a new walker. You might have spotted the makers of
Freshly Picked moccasins bidding for funding on
ABC‘s
Shark Tank. The are comfy moccasins for young kids. They come in sizes 1 to 10 and are made of 100% genuine leather. Celeb fans of the shoes include
Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and
Petra. 5. A Camp Alternative: And if you are looking for a fun and different activity for your school kids home for the summer to do, and in the San Francisco Bay area, why not get them into the culinary arts?
COOK! Classes for kids were the inspiration for Disney/Pixar animators for the Ratatouille film and director Clint Eastwood for several projects.
Mother daughter-duo Terry and Tracy Paulding founded the company behind the course, Paulding & Co. They offer courses for 6 to 18 year olds based in their San Francisco Bay area catering kitchen. The camps provide training in everything from basic cooking skills to specialized cuisines, to kitchen science and are designed to give kids the confidence and skills they need to cook for themselves, for friends, and for their families.
Date Night Solutions
6. Mom and dad will have to take some time out to enjoy the wonderful weather alone too sometime this summer. Two apps come in handy to make romantic nights away from parenting a possibility:
Taste Savant is an app which curates restaurants and help savvy divers decide where to eat by checking out the reviews from friends, restaurant critics, bloggers, chefs and other food experts.
7. Urban Sitter.com helps parents find adn book babysitters by reviewing recommendations from people in their own personal social circles and networks.
Together, date night should be a breeze.
