Congress has in place recommendations and rules that limits the way the American flag is displayed and used, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac. For example, it should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water, or merchandise; it should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free; should never have anything placed on it; and never  advertising purpose, nor embroidered on cushions or handkerchiefs, printed on paper napkins or boxes, nor used as any portion of a costume.

That doesn’t stop make up and nail polish design aficionados from using the colors and Old Glory to inspire their designs and looks. Here is a collection of unique interpretations from our Pinterest following.

These Are Not Your Mama’s Chuck Taylors! They’ve Come a Long Way, Baby

chuck taylor style 2

I think I’ve already expressed that I am currently obsessed with Converse sneakers Chuck Taylor’s already. And wouldn’t you know it, while searching for which pair I want to acquire, I discovered that there are a bunch of new styles that do not even look like the popular brand of Converse sneakers.

Like these bright yellow High Rise Boots from Finish Line. They literally look like the yellow brick road. I love them. And these studded Chuck Taylors would be awesome if I wanted to channel my inner rocker girl.

Feeling patriotic? Ready for Memorial Day or the Fourth of July are these Converse All Star Specialty Ox trainers. Fab!

But I think I would probably stick with the regular white in a wedge boot style to give me a little height. At 5 feet 3 inches, I can use all the boost I can get!

Fashion Secrets to Wearing White While Preggers

white memorial day

Memorial Day is traditionally the trigger day that you can wear white again.

That is the case if you pay attention to conventional fashion rules. I don’t, but it’s totally okay if you do. Moms-to-be may be hesitant wearing white while pregnant. Typically, as women gain weight as they advance in their pregnancy, they stick to basic black and all black palette because that color is slimming. Actually, monochromatic in any color has a slimming effect because it eliminates curves and creates one line. It also makes you look taller.

Nowadays, slim jeans made with stretchy elastic are available in maternity styles as well. These types of jeans will cinch you in and the compression effect is actually comforting to achy pregnancy legs, believe it or not. A peasant top with some embroidered trim at the neckline or cuff would pair perfectly.

And these days I am obsessing over Converse and other hi top sneakers. Carry a White tote and you’ve got your complete Memorial Day cook out look!

Look at Lily Aldridge Rocking the Ultimate Blogger’s Weekend Gear

weekend gear

Full time bloggers get no weekends or vacations off. We work 365 days of the year and around the clock. We have to be comfortable but, if we can, try to stay fashionable and current when out and about, attending events, or just chilling at a cafe behind a laptop cranking out our next post.

I spotted a Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum model Lily Aldridge in an outfit that captured the perfect weekend wear for a blogger around this time of the year. A comfy and seasonal top in a bright or neutral color, a pair of jeans, ballet blats, shades with a nice spacious bag. Hair in a bun and away from the face, not too fussy.  It was fab and functional.

Coachella: Music Festival Tips & Outfits for Mamas

img_0749-3.jpg

If you are in your first or early second trimester and are thinking of hitting up a music festival this Spring, you can! We got tips?

For what to wear, go with a Screen- T’s with a BoHo skirt or cropped denims, some round aviators, a fringe bag and combat boots and you’re good to go.

If this is your first kid, this may be your last frolic to a music festival carefree in a long time, so you might as well go out with a bang. Have fun, but be safe and stay clear from the front of the stage where it can get rough and tumble.

  • Hydrate and avoid standing in the mist and rain for too long.
  • Carry protein snacks like trail mix and granola bars in your side satchel so you can munch on when the food line is too long.
  • Don’t starve baby and by all means make sure your blood sugar doesn’t dip too low.
  • Carry hand sanitizer and use it often as it can get a bit unsanitary as you know out in a dusty field.

Also, go early so you can get a spot close to the johns and parking, if possible. By now, you know you make a lot more trips to the john than before.

Have fun and be safe!

For Fickle Climate Areas, Get This Cute Seasonal Transition Look

TRANSITION

If you live in a climate like mine in the DC Metropolitan area, then you are aware that the weather fluctuates from hot to warm to cold, rain to snow to heatwave during seasonal transition periods. I mean, it was snowing on Saturday and close to 70 degrees today. You cannot really pack away your sweaters and replace with Spring shorts because you never know when the weather will switch up on you.

You have to keep on wearing layers and hope for the best. I spotted Canadian actress (The Return of Xander)  and model Nina Dobrev wearing what I would consider the ultimate uniform for people who live in wacky seasonal transition climates: a custom cropped suede tan zippered jacket jacket by Veda, soft yet edgy distressed black denim skinny jeans, Isabel Marant booties and a giant check Burberry scarf to stay warm.

It was perfect!

Carrie Underwood showed off her new Zena Warrior Princess Body at ACM last night

acm 67 carrie

Whatever Carrie Underwood has been eating to get those super toned legs, I’ll take two to go please!

Ma ma mia! The American Idol winner and country music superstar first wowed the 51st Academy of Country Music Awards red carpet in gold-and-silver beaded Davidson Zanine gown accented with Bavna earrings and Rene Caovilla sandals.

carrie underwood acm

It was elegant but certainly hiding that she hasn’t been skipping leg day at the gym.

Her make up was flawless and her hair chin length bob swept to one side showed off her effervescent beauty but…

…when it was time to perform her hit song “Church Bells”  on stage at the event which took place on April 3, 2016 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, Underwood exploded on state in a super mini silver metallic Manual Diaz single sleeved cage dress.

Revealed wrapped around her ankle and calf were the leather straps to her custom black heels meeting up to…

carrie underwood 7

…these ultra toned thighs.  Pow! The naked arm showed off her guns. Move over Linda Hamilton (for you young ones, Hamilton played Sarah Conor in the Terminator movie franchise series and was famously known for her muscular frame. Google her.)

Underwood  also wore Graziela Gems earrings and Mariana Harutunian bracelet and rings. A shift to the smokey eye and dark eyeliner fit this outfit change.

You would never be able to tell just 13-months ago, she was giving birth to her first child, son Isaiah with her hockey star  husband Mike Fisher.

Wow, girl!

carrie underwood 4

The Friday before, she rocked with the ACM Women of Country  charity concert with the likes of country music female stars like Miranda Lampert.

Oh and, can I have that ring? If this is her wedding ring, it  looks just like Tiffany & Co.’s  Bezzet Yellow Diamond Ring in platinum with a yellow diamond in an 18k gold bezel setting and cushioned in modified fancy intense yellow diamond, carat total weight 1.57 which you can get at  Tiffany’s for a mere $27,100.

Style Guide: How to Wear Color While Pregnant

maternity spring

Don’t let pregnancy scare you away from colors. This Spring, dare to be bold with expressive and vibrant oranges, yellows, turquoise and pastels. If you are still wary of color, you can easily incorporate it through scarves, bangles and handbags.

orange bangle

I like this paisley print Lucite Etro bangle bracelet because it is expressive. It even comes with a  jewelry pouch.

scarf

You can’t go wrong with a well-known signature brand. This Burberry Check Silk Satin scarf will get you noticed and add a pop of color in design to a all black or other dark solid outfit.

hobo

A must have this spring is a brightly colored handbag. I’m in love with this Dooney & Bourke Pebble Grain Hobo bag. It is interesting and wow-worthy.

And if you are so inclined to do color, I suggest going with a shirt dress, a t-Shirt dress, an above belly empire top or a cute maxi dress. Here are some other pics curated from our partners at Shopstyle. Good luck, mamas!
