VH1 ‘Love and Hip Hop’ couple Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J are expecting

Shortly after announcing plans for a spin off to the couple’s reality television show titled The Jordans, Stevie J, star of VH1’s Love and Hip Hop Atlanta announced that he and his wife Joseline Hernandez are expecting their first child together.
During an interview with the radio show at 100.7FM, the hip hop performing artist confirmed that he and his rapper “main” rapper Hernandez are adding on to the family.
“It’s all real, but we got new additions with the family too but I don’t wanna say too much, but you know what I’m saying,” Stevie J told the station. “We extending and expanding the Jordan family….If you understand what I mean”.
He later accepted the dj’s congratulations confirming the news.
It should make an interesting story line for the couple considering the ongoing storyline on the main show involves his relationship with cast member Mimi Faust.

This would be Stevie’s 7th child, but her first.

Should make for an interesting story line. Stay tuned.

Study: Eating fried chicken daily increases gestational diabetes risk

Women who eat fried food every day are nearly twice as likely to develop diabetes during pregnancy, according to a major study.
Those who regularly enjoy chips, an omelette or fried chicken are at much higher risk of gestational diabetes – a temporary condition that affects up to one in 20 expectant mothers.
Researchers at Harvard University in the US believe that frying releases harmful chemicals into food which affect how the body controls blood sugar.
Gestational diabetes occurs when pregnant women fail to produce enough insulin causing their blood sugar to become abnormally high.
If not detected and treated, it can lead to a premature birth, the baby being very large or at worst dying shortly after labour.

Ultra Push Presents: 8 Expensive Gifts for that Mom who has Everything

It can be tough to shop for the posh mom (an expectant or new) who has everything.  This one is for the dads and partners out there who were wondering what to give that woman who has everything.

1. Any mom would be happy to receive a Tiffany blue box, especially if in it there is a Tiffany & Co. Bezzet Yellow Diamond Ring in platinum with a yellow diamond in an 18k gold bezel setting. Cushioned in modified fancy intense yellow diamond, carat total weight 1.57 Get it at Tiffany’s for a mere $27,100.
2. If she is a bag freak and doesn’t already have one, you can get her the Hermes Matte Crocodile Birkin Bag which costs $120,000.  Named after after British singer/actress Jane Birkin. The clasp of this tote, which is actually made out of a crocodile, features 10 carats of white diamonds. Less expensive bags are available starting at $5,000. Good luck finding one. Last I heard, there is a wait list. But Jet Set Socialite site that had the list has since gone off line.

3. If  that rich mom in your life loves sweet spells, you can get her one of the world’s most expensive bottle of perfume, Clive Christian No. 1 which sells for $2,150 for 2 ounces. The perfume is an extravagant combination of Indian jasmine, mandarin and sandalwood. Its bottle is handmade from lead crystal, while the neck is 24-karat gold-plated sterling silver, set with a solitaire. Wow!

4. If that spoiled rich mom has a sweet tooth, she may appreciate getting a dark chocolate truffle from Knipschildt for $250. It sells for $2600 a pound. With candy that rich, you have to cherish every calorie.

5. My favorite  gift is anything spa related. If your mom has time on her schedule, book her a spa trip to the Hotel Victor in South Beach (which was bought out by the Hyatt) It offers guests of its penthouse suite the opportunity to lounge in a tub filled with 1,000 liters of pure Evian water, fuchsia, and orange Gerber daisies. Serena Williams was the first to try out the $5,000 bath, which is given in a 350-gallon infinity tub. You can also snack on smoked salmon lollipops, foie gras and chocolate as you bathe.

6. A monogrammed robe. For the first weeks after the baby is born, a new mom will be restless, sleepless, and anxious trying to navigate her new role, nurse, recover and heal from the pains of labor and delivery and entertaining guests. It can be overwhelming. Nothing can make a new mom feel comfortable and comforted than being enveloped in a nice plush robe, especially during cold and crisp Fall or Winter nights. Having it monogrammed adds the nice extra special touch. For those in warmer climates, a pretty frilly robe in pastels, paisley or other feminine design can help a new mom feel sensual during a time when she may be dealing with bloating and other pregnancy side effects. Brookstone sells a nice one starting at  $59.95.
7. Plush slippers- Many new moms experience water retention in their feet and legs during and immediately after giving birth. C-Section moms have it even worse because surgery creates even more water build up. As such, many moms quickly become to realize that they may not be able to fit into their old shoes and won’t for a while. A great warm and comfy pair of slippers would be an ideal for any new mom, for lounging around the home or just for slipping into after a day out and about on feet that are still recovering from childbirth. Ralph Lauren makes a comfy shearling slipper that retails for $75.
8. Anything from Tiffany’s – The sight of that little blue box can put a glimmer in any woman’s eye. For a new mom whose fingers may be swollen from retaining water, she may be upset and frustrated that she can no longer fit her wedding or engagement ring. Rather than put it away, wouldn’t it be a wonderful surprise to present her with a lovely chain to hang the rings on and wear around her neck so she can keep the symbol of your love and fidelity by her heart? Yes. Yes indeed. And as a self-proclaimed connoisseur of all things Tiffany’s related, believe me, that you are sure to find a necklace in a variety of budgets at Tiffany’s.An Elsa Peretti Pendant Chain  sells for $185.00 and can fit a ring easily along with the alphabet pendant bearing either the mom’s or new baby’s initial.

10 Tip for clipping your newborn’s nails

When parents bring home their newborn infant, it doesn’t take long to notice their tiny little fingernails. They’re not only totally adorable, they grow really fast and they’re incredibly sharp. If those fingernails don’t get trimmed regularly, the baby will inadvertently scratch themselves and you. This may seem like a simple task until you try it for the first time. Babies are notoriously squirmy and those nails are so tiny that clipping them can be a challenge. If you are a new parent or caring for a young infant, here are some tips for clipping a baby’s fingernails.
  1. Baby clippers – The first thing I would recommend is to purchase some special tools. Adult fingernail clippers and scissors are bulky and can end up harming your baby. Use clippers or scissors especially made to care for infants and your task will be much easier.
  2. Press their finger – You want to clip only the nail and not the end of the finger, but this can be difficult. If you press down on the top of the baby’s finger it pulls the skin away from the nail so the fingernail is much easier to get at.
  3. Emery board – Use an emery board to file off the sharp edges of the fingernail. If you do this often enough you can eliminate the clipping process altogether. For parents that are worried about clipping the skin, filing the nail may be a more comfortable way to go.
  4. During feeding – Another tip is to do the fingernail clipping when your baby is relaxed and not squirming too much. During feeding the baby is concentrating on food so it’s a good time to clip the nails.
  5. When sleeping – The best time to clip your baby’s fingernails is when he/she is sleeping. If your baby is sound asleep you can get the nails clipped in a flash with no drama or trauma. When baby awakes the fingernails are all trimmed and he/she didn’t even know it happened.
  6. After a bath – Babies fingernails are softest right after a bath. This is an excellent time to get the clippers out. The only problem is holding a squirmy, wet, slippery baby!
  7. Get help – If you need to clip your baby’s nails when he/she is awake, get some help. One person can hold the baby while the other does the clipping. This is especially helpful as the baby gets older and may start to resist when you want to trim the nails.
  8. Use a diversion – For babies that really start to rebel when it’s time to clip the nails, you may want to create a diversion. Use a favorite toy or food to distract the baby while you get the trimming done.
  9. Don’t over-clip – It can be tempting to trim the nails as far as you can to avoid doing it so often. This can be a big mistake since you risk hurting the baby by nicking the tender skin under the nail. Make sure you clip the white part of the nail but leave a sliver so you don’t over-clip.
  10. Do it often – Since the baby’s fingernails grow so fast, you will need to clip them often. This can be 2 or 3 times a week at first but less often as they grow. Keep an eye on those fingernails and don’t let them get too long between clippings.

What Nick Cannon tells twins Roe and Roc about fighting the flu (VIDEO INTERVIEW)

“Don’t touch your face with your hands” is the lesson

celebrity dad Nick Cannon instills

in his twins, Monroe and Moroccan when they’re out and about, jet setting

across country and meeting many people along the way.
One day after his birthday, the actor, TV host and producer

shared with us some of his tried and true tips and suggestions for protecting

himself and his children from the flu.
Each year, close to 20% of the nation contract the flu and of

those 200,000 have to be hospitalized for flu-related complications each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Cannon said he feels it’s important to use his celebrity

status “to shine light on the things that really matter and it gives me

opportunity to do interesting partnerships like the one I have now with the

makers of Theraflu to spread

awareness this flu season to really get everyone ‘flu ready’.”
 That was the comedian

and TV producer’s reason for teaming up with the makers of Theraflu to promote

its Fluprint campaign.
“Health and wellness is on everyone’s mind and it is Flu

season and being a father of two young kids that travel a lot, and myself

always on the go, you want to make sure, just in my own personal house to make sure

everyone in my household stays healthy, and getting their vaccinations,” said Cannon,

who is married to our Bellyitch

Bumpwatch
alum Mariah Carey.
Clearly not one of those celebrity parents who is also an Anti-Vaxxer, Cannon says though he’s

not a medical expert, but knows “there’s a lot of misconception about

vaccinations.”
It’s not like the man who was diagnosed with lupus nephritis in 2012 can afford to

be too exposed.
It’s “an autoimmune condition so my immune system is extra

sensitive,“ the School Dance executive producer shared.

“I follow the same steps of the Flu print, those 5 easy steps, you know 1,

making sure I do have the vaccinations, and then from there preparing and being

proactive, hand sanitizers, and keeping myself in the most healthy environment

as possible and then if I do come down with something making sure I treat it

properly the best way I can with things like Theraflu.”
And with this campaign, anyone can help families without

health insurance and in impoverished areas get critical flu vaccines.
For every like on the Theraflu Facebook page, its

makers will donate $1 up to $100,000 to the national Families Fighting Flu

charity. It’s that simple and not a hoax; and an easy way to give back.
The comedian and writer is a frequent feature on the blog,

and was in the news lately over his large crucifix back tattoo.
After pointing out the new ink, we asked the Drumline alum, who grew up with a televangelist dad,

how he suggests parents protect themselves from viruses in houses of worship,

where often times hand shaking and drinking from one communion cups is  part of Sunday ritual.
“That’s a good question,” says Cannon, who recently signed

a deal to pen a children’s poetry
series. “It’s more about just being a

public in general, whatever your place of worship is,  wherever you go with your family, whether a church

or movie theater, where people feel like they’ll be fellowshipping and touching.
“I encourage my kids to refrain from touching their face

with their hands because that’s often times how you’re going to spread germs,” Cannon

advises. “You are going to shake people’s hands. You can’t avoid that. You are

going to touch things other people have touched. “
There you have it, folks! Stay clear of your face and make

sure your kids do too.

Eco-Friday:4 Re-Usable products to use while pregnant

Reusing items is one way to “go green,” since doing so produces less waste and ultimately means less resources are used to manufacture new items. Here are a few items you can reuse during pregnancy to reduce your – and your baby’s! – carbon footprint.
1. Reusable water bottle – It’s vitally important to stay hydrated during pregnancy! Instead of buying bottled water, invest in a high quality and eco-friendly reusable water bottle so you can fill up at home and keep water with you while you’re on the go.
2. Food storage containers – During pregnancy, it’s important to keep a light snack with you while you’re out and about in case hunger strikes. Be sure to keep your snacks in reusable food containers rather than disposable plastic bags.
3. Maternity clothes – If you don’t already have maternity clothes from a past pregnancy to reuse, consider finding what you need at a thrift store, garage sale or consignment store. You might even have a no-longer-pregnant friend with some maternity clothing to get rid of.
4. Items for baby – Since you’ll be doing plenty of shopping for baby now, during your pregnancy, start thinking about how you get your baby off to a eco-friendly start in life. Cloth diapers are reusable – you can even use them for more than one child! Some cloth diapering moms also use reusable cloth wipes for clean up at changing time. You can also reuse toys, clothes and larger items like cribs and play yards. You might have these items still on and from when older children were little, but even if this is your first baby or if you got rid of those items before, you can still reuse by shopping at thrift stores, consignment shops, garage sales and looking out for general freebies. Family members and friends might also have items they’d like to unload.
As you can see, there are many ways to make use of reusable items during your pregnancy. Many cities even have entire consignment shops dedicated to items and clothes for pregnant moms and babies, so you can be green even without having to search and search through thrift store racks and garage store piles to find what you need – unless that’s something you enjoy, of course!

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher name their daughter Wyatt- why it’s cool

When actress Mila Kunis and fiancé Ashton Kutcher welcomed their daughter this past September 30, the couple chose to give her the very masculine name Wyatt, with the more traditional female middle Isabelle.

I love masculine and unisex names because they’re great for avoiding any gender-related boxes or limitations people may put you in.
I love going by just JJ because those who interact with me before learning my gender, usually on the phone or via email or snail mail will not have any chance to filter their response thru gender lenses.
Cool.
