Inside Kim Kardashian’s Amazing week of Celebrations

Second-time mom-to-be Kim Kardashian-West has been having a fabulous last week. Today, she is having her “Troop Beverly Hills” -themed baby shower.  We know because her sister Kendall Jenner shared a photo of Kim and all the siblings in matching striped pajamas on a lavish sofa. Looks like a good time.

It is  following a Birthday Brunch she had on Saturday, October 24 , which was attended by all of her super fans that she follows on social media. We know because the business mogul showed off the deets on Twitter.

During the week, her  husband Kanye West surprised her for her 35th birthday on October 22 this week by renting out an entire movie theater for a private screening of the Steve Jobs movie. He also had all the guests come dressed in their face pregnant Kim look, the reality TV star tweeted after the event.

Nice. And…that was followed by another amazing time joining other spokes models and spokespersons of the Balmain Label to celebrate the birthday of the designer’s creative director Olivier Rousteing‘s birthday party in Los Angeles on Friday.

Nori wasn’t left out either. West brought her to the brunch too.

But the cutie pie has been enjoying the fun life of a privileged kid too. Earlier, Kim showed a photo of Nori at the pumpkin patch with her cousin Penelope Disick, the second child of her sis Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick.

Today is International Day of the Girl, a day created by the United Nations and managed by UNICEF in 2011 to call attention to the plight of the 62 million girls world wide who are uneducated and not given an opportunity to go to school.

How to Throw a Halloween Party on a Budget

There’s no need to break the bank when it comes to throwing your next kids’ Halloween party.  By using items you already have around the house you can throw a killer party without spending a ton of money, and making your own snacks and beverages can also help you cut back on the expenses.  The kids will have a blast and you will be a Halloween hero, without going broke.
Theme Deciding on a theme can help you tie all of the party details together. Here are a few kid friendly themes worth considering.
  • Ghouls and Goblins: Place tombstones in the yard for decorations, wrap hotdogs in dough and bake them to look like mummies and serve punch out of a caldron.
  • Witches and Fairies: Sprinkle glitter on table cloths and serve witch fingers and witch’s brew.
  • Nutty Professor: Put out assorted jars filled with food coloring in water, make invitations in the shape of a beaker and serve drinks in test tubes.
  • Hogwarts: Line the table with white owls and fake snow and make pretzel stick wands that can be decorated and then eaten.
Invitations Tie the invitations into the theme to help set the mood for the party and let the parents know what type of costumes the kids should wear.  By making your own invitations you can have something that is both unique and inexpensive. Here are some ideas for simple invitations you can make at home.
  • Tombstone Invitations: Using some gray cardstock, cut out the shape of a tombstone.  Using a black ink pad rub the edges of the tombstone to create an aged, dirty look.  Put a big RIP on the front and the rest of the party information inside.
  • Fairy wing invitations: Cut out the shape of a pair of wings.  Write the details of the party on the wings.  Take some vellum and cut out the same wing shape and attach it to the top with a brad.  Use plenty of glitter for the fairies.
  • Witch’s broom invitations: Cut out the shape of the bristle part of a broom in a yellow or mustard color and print the details to the party on it.  Attach a craft stick or a cut down skewer to the back of the bristle portion.  Tie a black bow around the broom handle and you’re done.
Decorations Use things you have around the house that go with your theme.  Drape the furniture with white sheets for a spooky, abandoned look.  Fill recycled jars with water and food coloring; float various things in them like a plastic frog or plastic eye balls and cover dessert tables with black plastic table cloths from the dollar store.
Games – Play games that kids love, but add a Halloween twist to them.  Almost any game can be made into a Halloween game.
  • Monster Mash: Play fun Halloween inspired music and have the kids play freeze dancing.  Whenever the music stops they have to freeze in their spot.  If they move they have to sit out until the next song.
  • Flashlight tag: Supply everyone with inexpensive flashlights and let them chase each other around the back yard.  A variation could be to hide glow in the dark items and have everyone hunt for them.
  • Bobbing for apples: Float apples in water and have players try to grab an apple out of the water using nothing but their mouths.
  • Spooky Bingo: Set up the normal bingo cards, but use miniature bat cut-outs to cover the spaces, or go online and print out Halloween inspired game cards.  Light some battery operated candles and play by candlelight.  Turn on some spooky music and call out the numbers using a creepy voice.
Food Choose food that the kids already like and dress it up for Halloween.  For example, you could take PB&J sandwiches and cut them out with a pumpkin cookie cutter, and then use a food safe black marker to draw jack-o-lantern face on it.  Serve bat or witch hat shaped cookies or brownies.  Give items on the party menu a creepy name by putting place cards in front of all of the food.  A bowl of grapes could be called, “Green Eyeballs,” for example and a bowl of candy corn could be called, “Witches teeth”.  Freeze some water or fruit juice in a plastic glove and then float it in green punch for some eerie fun.  Sprinkle in some creepy crawly decorations in and around the food trays.
Favors Wrap candy bars with strips of medical tape to look like mummies.  Leave an opening to put in a couple of big googly eyes. Kids will have fun no matter what they are doing so don’t stress out too much over party details.  Create some suspense with the invitations, set the mood with the decorations and music, and feed them fun, creepy food and you will have happy kids.  Use your imagination and ask your kids what they want to do.  You might be surprised to learn what kind of fun ideas they have.

Writer: Being a SAHM is a Privilege, Not a Job

Being a stay-home mom is a privilege and a lifestyle so quit comparing it to people who have “real” jobs, writer Liz Pardue-Schultz says in a recent article she wrote for xoJane.

Pardue-Schultz, a former SAHM herself, has pissed off a lot of moms with her widely read post.

She pens in the piece, syndicated in Time.com:

“Being a stay-at-home mother to your own kids is not a “job,” no matter how difficult it is or how hard we work. Period. Getting to do nothing but raise a person you opted to bring into the world is a privilege, and calling it anything else is ignorant and condescending.

Sure, parenting is hard work, but so is going camping or throwing a party for a friend; I don’t go around calling those things my “jobs.” And FUN FACT: While there are obviously labor-intensive tasks involved with running a household like cleaning and cooking, those are things every person has to do (or pay someone else to do) regardless of their status as parents, and they don’t define our life’s work.

Obviously, staying at home and taking care of people in lieu of working for wages is a valued lifestyle, but it is not a “career”; people who retire early to care for their elderly parents don’t suddenly tell everyone they’ve gone into the health care profession. Choosing to care for your own small child is no different.”

Fall Fashion: 25 Ways to Tie a Scarf (VIDEO)

The temperature is dropping in many parts of the US which means it’s scarf season again!  I had on two this morning as I headed out to a dentist appointment. Brrrr!
Scarves are the perfect functional piece of your wardrobe because they  keep you warm and they can add a pop of color if you are doing the monochromatic black look to mimic a slimming effect if you are preggers and your hips are spreading faster than your nose. ha!
I also love scarves because you can always get one in a trending color, material or fabric and use them to stay current and in style, if you’re into being hipwhileknocked up. (smile)

So once again, if you haven’t already seen fashion blogger Wendy from Wendy’s Lookboook’s super viral video, “25 Ways to Tie a scarf” that has gotten 25 million views and counting, here it is:

‘Run’s House’ JoJo Simmons has grown up and is going to be a Dad

jojosimmons

Remember the eldest brother, JoJo Simmons, from the popular MTV reality show from the 2000s Run’s House?

Well, he is now 26 and is going to be a dad!

He announced the news on his Instagram account recently.

“All smiles today on my birthday. Me and @tanice___amira are expecting a baby girl in February,” he captioned a photo of himself cradling her belly. “Can’t wait to meet my daughter.”

The two celebrated his birthday recently and Tanice mentioned the baby as well.

“Happy 26th Birthday Babe @jojo_simmons so thankful to share another year together!” the make  up artist wrote in the caption to a photo of the two eating birthday cupcakes. “Your[sic] such an amazing person in my life and i cant wait til our Baby Girl gets the chance to see what such a great Dad your going to be! Love you #MommyToBe #DaddyToBe #babygirl #Family #Thankful.”

After that, she was free to finally post a baby bump photo after apparently hiding it from her 15,000 followers on Instagram before.

Chelsea Clinton Shares Daughter’s Fave Book

Reprinted with permission from E! News

When it comes to family time, Chelsea Clinton always makes it a priority.

Whether it’s supporting mom Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail or helping Former President Bill Clinton with the Clinton Initiative Project, Chelsea likes to keep her loved ones close.

So it should come as no surprise that when the author and activist celebrated her daughter’s first birthday over the weekend, it was family that was at the center of the fun.

“It was great. We had lots of balloons,” she told E! News exclusively. “[Charlotte] loves balloons, lots of bubbles and lots of books.”

Bill added, “The whole thing was a hoot. Oh my gosh, she is unbelievable.”

On Saturday evening, Chelsea even shared a candid snapshot of some mommy-daughter time that included a special story before bed. It’s the simple, but oh-so-sweet moments that Chelsea cherishes every day.

“It was actually “Where Is the Green Sheep?,” which at the moment is one of her favorite books,” the proud mom explained. “She loves to read, which as a mom just makes me so happy.”

In between parenting duties, the author of “It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired & Get Going!” continues to make time to support the Clinton Global Initiative. As the nonprofit celebrates its 10-year anniversary, E! News’ Maria Menounos couldn’t help but ask about some of the many accomplishments the foundation has made.

“One of the things I am most proud of is all the work the Haiti Action Network has done,” Chelsea explained. “We’re talking about the five million trees that have been planted, tens of thousands of women that have been educated, the 50 schools that now have solar energy.”

Bill added, “I believe the most important thing is we’ve changed the nature of philanthropy. For example, two years ago the Starkey Hearing Aid Foundation was giving out 50,000 hearing aids a year. This year, they are already over 200,000.”

And while the next few months may be extra busy for the Clintons—Decision 2016 anyone?—it certainly won’t stop the family from making a difference.

“I hope in the next 10 years the number of people that we’ve helped will be in the billions,” Bill shared.
