Get & Maintain Ombre hair this Summer (Tips)

Whether you dig it or not, Ombre hair is still to stay. The hair coloring style trend, which features gradually lightened hair from root to tip, has been seen on many celebs, on runways and in fashion mags.

Our partners at Glamazon have tips on how to maintenance Ombre hair if you dare go this fun, yet slightly high-maintenance, route this Spring or Summer:

While ombre hair isn’t as high maintenance or as tough on your roots as dying all of your hair a single hue, you still need to treat your tresses with TLC. Here are a few Do’s and Don’ts to help you keep your ombre hair looking fab at all times.

Do…Deep Condition and Keep Hair Moisturized

Just because all of your hair wasn’t dyed, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take heed to the fact that a portion of your hair has been processed and needs care. Since ombre hair usually entails going from dark to light, the use of bleach or other chemicals will probably be used. You should deep condition hair at least once a week to keep the color looking fresh and to keep hair shiny and strong. Breakage is definitely no bueno!

Do…Use the right product

You still need to use products that are for color-treated hair with the ombre look. Usually it’s best to use a sulfate-free product that says it’s for color-treated hair. Regular products can be too harsh and strip the hair of essential oils, leaving it brittle and dry.

Do…Remember That Dirty Hair Is Good… For Coloring

Although, it could be safer and yield better results by consulting a professional, if you’re a DIY beauty girl (I absolutely am), try not to wash your hair directly before coloring it. Our scalp produces natural oils that can actually help protect it from damage.

Don’t…be lazy

Just because you won’t have to touch up your roots as often, you do get a green light to just let your hair go. You still need to have regular touch-ups (depending on the permanency of the color it’s essential to get a touch-up every 5-6 months). It’s not haute to have scraggly, fried ends with unkempt dark roots.

Don’t…forget the color change has to be gradual.

Make sure the jump from a dark hue to a lighter shade isn’t too abrupt (like Ciara‘s). The way Keke Palmer‘s dark locks flow into a lighter hue is perfect.

Inside DeSean Jackson & girlfriend Kayla Phillips’ Baby Shower

I’m a Washingtonian so I follow our local team. I just realized one of our Redskins players Desean Jackson and his girlfriend Kayla Phillips are expecting a child together later this year. …and you guys know how I love to scope/stalk celebrities’ baby showers, right? So it was a treat to spot some photos of the baby shower recently. Jackson, Phillips, their friends and some of the vendors posted some pics of the event on their personal Instagram pages.

The duo had a co-ed baby shower on a stadium rooftop with a sports locker room theme in Santa Monica, California. You could even see the bleachers below in the pics. It was perfect to align with the theme which included a cake decorated like a baseball, basketball and a football. Great given they are expecting a baby boy.

The dessert table featured sports-themed cupcakes, a cake and cake pops. It looked quite decadent yet craft and creative at the same time. California-based Platinum Candy Buffets did an excellent job on the display.

The couple both wore white. This will be the first child for Jackson but Phillips’ second.

Fans of Jackson’s and the curious can catch more behind-the-scenes aspect of their life by catching a new reality television show on BET called, “DeSean Jackson: Home Team” on Tuesdays at 8:30pm ET/7:30 C.

2015 BET Awards Red Carpet: What & Who Our Star Moms Wore

We loved the interesting selections our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums wore on the red carpet last night at the 2015 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. As usual, we’re doing our rundown on the designers who outfitted the ladies who walked the red carpet.

Kelly Rowland rocked a black asymmetric feathered mini frock by Lever Couture which featured a mock turtleneck and billowy sleeve cascading from the sleeves with slick back hair. It was a daring and bold move.

Amber Rose came hand in hand with her BFF Blac Chyna, both Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums. Each wore matching white suits and bustiers from lingerie designer La Perla. They even shared a kiss on the red carpet to celebrate the US Supreme Court’s decision which opened the door for gay couples in all states to marry.

Christina Milian also arrived in white. The reality TV star, actress and singer came decked out in a jeweled halter jumpsuit made by Erevos Aether and paired with Ruby Stella jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals. Cayooot!

Ciara made another fab choice by arriving in a plunging neckline Wes Gordon sheer dress made of embroidered metal, accented with minimal jewels and Stuart Weitzan pumps. She arrived with her new beau NFL Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Brandy went with her signature mini dress with a flare in this grey and black Michael Costello color block dress with pink pumps. Love the hair!

Monica looked regal in this flowing Stéphane Rolland Couture cape gown. Simply Stunning!

Lil Kim looked amaze balls as well while performing during the Bad Boys tribute. She popped out of a hole in the stage to the glee and delight of the audience.

Bellyitch Bumpwatch Alums Married to Professional Athletes

Kristin Cavallari‘s second pregnancy with her husband Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler reminded us that many of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums are married and/or partners with professional athletes.

Like Cavallari, who is a shoe designer and TV host, Gisele Bundchen is also married to an NFL quarterback, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.

It’s always interesting to note the height difference with some pairs, like: Adrienne Bosh and her husband Miami Heat NBA player Chris Bosh, Nashville actress Hayden Panattiere and her fiance Heavyweight boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko, and Savannah Brinson and Cleveland Cavaliers NBA player LeBron “King” James (in article header).

Scandal‘s Kerry Washington keeps her relationship and marriage to hunky former NFL cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha secret but when spotted out, they both look adorbs together, as do Kim Zolciack-Biermann and her husband Troy Biermann of the Atlanta Falcons. Though, the very gorgeous Biermanns are very public as can be seen up and down Kim’s Instagram page.

And the “other” footballers (soccer) from across the ocean include Caroline Berg Eriksen and her husband Norwegian Premier League football player Lars-Kristian Eriksen, and the very fashionable and chic A-List couple Victoria Beckham and her retired football star spouse David Beckham.

Representing the Hockey League are Hilary Duff and her Canadian professional hockey player estranged hubby Mike Comerie (whom she is currently divorcing from) and Carrie Underwood with her NHL Nashville Predators hubby Mike Fisher.

Finally, Monica Brown and her ex NBA star hubby Shannon Brown have one of the most endearing relationships and a wonderful blended family. Same with Evelyn Lozada and her hubby LA Dodgers Major League baseball star hubby Carl Crawford.
