So I See Chrissy Teigen is Following Our Pregnancy Advice

We consistently share a blog post about three things to never share with others about your baby in the oven until it is born, and I recently saw an interview with Chrissy Teigen sharing that she has adopted two of our core pieces of advice! (Well she didn’t give us credit for the advice, but that is besides the point! ha!)

During an interview with E! News during a media tour to discuss her Lip Sync Battle series the Twitter maven gave some insights on her other latest project: a brand new baby with husband John Legend.

Last go round, the model openly announced that she selected her baby’s gender because she felt her husband deserved a baby girl and she got lambasted for it in by the public in social media, mainly. This time, John asked her to keep it mum about the baby’s sex which they knew because they conceived it using in vitro fertilization.

“We had them on ice,” Chrissy joked. “So we know. We knew when we put it in, but John was like, ‘Make sure you don’t say it. Let’s have one thing for us,’ and of course I’m probably going to end up saying it, but I’m just going to do this favor to him for as long as I can.”

Good advice!

“Names are tough. What I learned was, never share your ideas,” she explained. “If you have a name idea, somebody is going to be like ‘No, I knew a person by that name in high school, and they were gross.’ That always happens.”

Yes, chile! This was also among our suggested no-no’s before baby is born!

The other is that you’re pregnant. Read why HERE!

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are Expecting Baby #2!

Yay! Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are expecting their second child!

The model posted a cute Instagram video on Tuesday with their daughter Luna Simone Stephens. When mom asked her to share the news of what’s in here (under her robe) the adorable tot removed the fabric to uncover a glimpse of a tiny bump and said “baby”!

it’s john’s!

A post shared by chrissy teigen (@chrissyteigen) on

This is welcome news and we are happy for the celebrity couple, especially because we know that they had struggled to conceive initially. Teigen also took to Snapchat to share a photo of her bump, captioning the photo, “Very excited to not to have to hide this anymore,” adding, “Everyone I told first were like ‘uh yeah, we knew, thanks.'” Funny!

Congrats! This is the second child for them both!

They welcomed their first child last April.

Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Her Year-Long Battle with PostPartum Depression

1280_chrissy_teigen_luna_sweet_instagram

In a very candid essay, model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen opens up for the first time about battling postpartum depression, a condition that affects 1 in 9 women, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

In the essay, the Lip Sync Battle co-host talks about being a very happy person and being genuinely ecstatic about starting a family with her husband John Legend. The couple welcomed daughter Luna in April 2016.

But then after her birth, she says she felt “unhappy: for “much of the last year.”

“What basically everyone around me—but me—knew up until December was this: I have postpartum depression. How can I feel this way when everything is so great? I’ve had a hard time coming to terms with that, and I hesitated to even talk about this, as everything becomes such a ‘thing.'” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model reveals before sharing that as a person who lives her life as an “open book” she felt compelled to share her story:

“I had such a wonderful, energetic pregnancy,” she begins but adds that things turned a bit dark because of disruption at home.

“After I had Luna, our home was under construction, so we lived in a rental home, then a hotel, and I blamed whatever stress or detachment or sadness I was feeling at that time on the fact that there were so many odd circumstances,” Teigen shared. “I remember thinking: ‘Maybe I’ll feel better when we have a home.'”But it didn’t go as expected though she shared how the show was very accommodating:

I went back to work on Lip Sync Battle in August, when Luna was four months. The show treated me incredibly well—they put a nursery in my dressing room and blew up photos of Luna and John and my family for my wall. When Luna was on set, they lowered the noise levels. They turned down the air so she wouldn’t be cold. Only the most gentle knocking on the door. Pump breaks. I mean, there was no better place to get to go back to work to.

Life wasn’t the same, nonetheless.

But I was different than before. Getting out of bed to get to set on time was painful. My lower back throbbed; my shoulders—even my wrists—hurt. I didn’t have an appetite. I would go two days without a bite of food, and you know how big of a deal food is for me. One thing that really got me was just how short I was with people.

I would be in my dressing room, sitting in a robe, getting hair and makeup done, and a crew member would knock on the door and ask: “Chrissy, do you know the lyrics to this song?” And I would lose it. Or “Chrissy, do you like these cat ears, or these panda hands?” And I’d be like: “Whatever you want. I don’t care.” They would leave. My eyes would well up and I would burst into tears. My makeup artist would pat them dry and give me a few minutes.

I couldn’t figure out why I was so unhappy. I blamed it on being tired and possibly growing out of the role: “Maybe I’m just not a goofy person anymore. Maybe I’m just supposed to be a mom.”

And the feeling transcended work and home:

When I wasn’t in the studio, I never left the house. I mean, never. Not even a tiptoe outside. I’d ask people who came inside why they were wet. Was it raining? How would I know—I had every shade closed. Most days were spent on the exact same spot on the couch and rarely would I muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed. John would sleep on the couch with me, sometimes four nights in a row. I started keeping robes and comfy clothes in the pantry so I wouldn’t have to go upstairs when John went to work. There was a lot of spontaneous crying.

Tika Sumpter Radiates at Premiere of Obamas’ First Date movie, ‘Southside With You’

sumpter

First time mom-to-be Tika Sumpter looked radiant in white while attending the Chicago premiere of her new Michelle & Barack Obama love story movie, Southside With You. The gorgeous and talented actress walked the red carpet and posed alongside her co-star Parker Sawyer who plays Barack and executive producer John Legend.

This movie could be the breakout role for the Gossip Girl alum who, up until now, has been known for supporting roles alongside Kevin Hart in the Ride Along movies or other small screen roles. She also stars on the OWN Network hit show The Haves and Have Nots.

The film is a fictional portrayal of the first date of the president and First Lady back in 1989 when President Obama was a Harvard Law Student and a community organizer and Michelle was an associate in a big Chicago law firm. And from watching the trailer, we must say that Sumpter got inflection down pack. It was part of her plan.

actors and real thing

“I wanted to make sure you heard inflections of Michelle,” she told Nylon magazine in an August feature. “I studied every word, how she curved her tongue, how she kind of sings when she talks.”  The result is a carefully drawn and recognizable portrait of Michelle Robinson, an ambitious and whip-smart lawyer who would go on to become one of the world’s most famous women, Nylon summarized.

It did well at the Sundance Film festival earlier this year. The film wasn’t sanctioned by the White House. The film’s screenwriter and producer Richard Tanne said the White House was “aware and slightly puzzled” by the existence of the film, but officials there did verify locations and the menu of their first date.

This is just but one of a plethora of untold stories of historic African American figures yet to hit the big or small screen.  Sumpter also jumped in early as one of the producers .

“The great part about being a producer is you’re in the room when decisions are made,” she added, especially given that good roles are so hard to come by for black female actresses. “Usually, there aren’t any black people in the room…I’m in a place where I want to create because these characters aren’t being written for me.”

And she plans to do more.

“I have stories I want to tell,” she says. “My thing is making sure women know how dope they are, regardless of what the story is.”

She didn’t reveal who her boyfriend and father of her child is to the interviewer but did say he is also a lawyer who is mature, and representing the Obamas in her new film, Sumpter says they are  “Relationship goals.” Sumpter also accidentally revealed she is having a baby girl on a radio show while promoting the film.

The New York Times did a write up recently too, revealing that, to prepare the actress worked with a vocal coach to master Mrs. Obama’s speech patterns, and watched videos to see how she walked and carried herself.

“Once we started rehearsing,” said Mr. Sawyers, “I was like, oh, that’s it! She nailed it.”

In one scene, Michelle talks about the racism she encountered at Princeton and Harvard — some subtle, some less so — and how, even at her current firm, she has to navigate between “Planet Black and Planet White.” Ms. Sumpter admitted that there were parallels in her own field. “You see the differences in the way certain movies are treated,” she said. “But once you come to terms with that, you have to go, O.K., I’m not going to allow that to hold me back. Which is what I love about Michelle. She never allowed the color of her skin and all the things she was up against to keep her from breaking through.”

A lot of that confidence came from Mrs. Obama’s family, just as it did for Ms. Sumpter, who is expecting her own daughter this fall. “Because of my mom, I never felt less than,” she said, looking back on her early days trying to make it in the business. “I never came into this world thinking, I’m a brown-skinned girl going to Hollywood. I was always like, I’m talented and I’m beautiful and I’m smart. Why wouldn’t you want me?”

The movie opens this Friday, August, 26 nationwide. Date night movie for sure!

Chrissy Teigen Keeps It All the Way Real…And gets Roasted for It…Again!

pregnant-chrissy-teigen-and-john-legend-getty

One thing fans of Chrissy Teigen love is her refreshing honesty and the fact she keeps it all the way real.

Of course, that has come back to bite her in the butt often in the form of harsh criticism and attacks.

It seems like every other day, the model and TV host is getting roasted for something she shared in social medial

I appreciated her honesty recently when she shared that she has had to wear an adult diaper for incontinence.

“No one told me i would be coming home in diapers too,” she tweeted recently.

It is indeed one of those things that no one tells you about pregnancy and new motherhood. In fact, had she been keeping a closer eye on the tweets of her bestie Kim Kardashian, she might have noticed that Kimye too blogged about that problem after she first gave birth to North a few years ago.

“People just don’t tell you all of the gross things that happen during pregnancy or after,” she wrote on her blog in 2015. “Do you know you basically have to wear a diaper for two months afterwards?! LOL! No one told me that! #SoSexy.”

In fact, urinary incontinence is very common in the postpartum period  and happens with a third of new moms.

Women who experience this don’t get back their total control of their bladder until three to six months after delivery.

A ton of women replied to her about their experience with it and just like that, 20K+ retweets later, she had raised awareness on a health problem. Bravo, Chrissy!

And just when people were simmering down about that post, she goes out on a date with her husband John Legend and within the week of welcoming her daughter, Luna.

oh boy!

She got dragged all over again by people who told her she should be home breastfeeding and not on a date so soon after delivery.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

I think PopSugar’s Maggie Winterfeldt summed it up well in her piece defending Teigen:

A child’s entire well-being is based on the mother during gestation, and we give pregnant women due allowances for the extra rest, food, and exercise needs they have in the process of growing human life — and yet as soon as that baby is born, when it’s time for the tremendous task of raising a child, that same woman’s status is reduced from sacred vessel to tireless caregiver. Her needs as a woman are no longer respected, yet we expect her to continue to perform as wife, mother, and often a member of the workforce. But with nothing to fuel her, she can only give so much.

Well said!

Yup, John Legend and Chrissy Teigen had an even More Adorable Baby Bump Moment

john and chrissyh

R&B crooner John Legend and his model and TV host wife Chrissy Teigen are not strangers to sharing affection for one another at events and definitely on social media. The couple are expecting their first child together after a few  bouts of infertility and other struggles to conceive and maintain a pregnancy, Teigen once shared.

The internet was abuzz again recently over a tender moment shared on Instagram of the “Ordinary People” singer and multi-award winning artist kissing Teigen’s growing bump.
