VH1 #LHH Atlanta Star latest Plagued by Fake Pregnancy Rumors

Vh1 reality Tv of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Joseline Hernandez is the latest celeb to be plagued by fake baby bump rumora.

The first-time mom-to-be posted pregnancy progression photos of herself on her Instagram account this weekend which revealed barely a bump.

A few commenters questioned the authencity.

Beyonce, Danielle Jonas Kim Kardashian-West and several other celebrity women have all been accused by fans and the gossip press of not truly carrying their respective child and of wearing a prosthetic bump.

Kardashian went as far as to pose nude to prove the haters wrong.

And Hernandez has posted a previous photo which revealed a very pregnant belly.

Before Janet Jackson was spotted recently, many thought she was using a surrogate given that she is 50-years old.

As we all know, women carry each pregnancy differently and some bumps are barely there and others are large from early in a pregnancy and get exponentially large.

Alas, it comes with the territory of being in the public eye in this era of the celeb “bump watch.”

Doesn’t mean it’s not annoying and off-putting to the women dogged but it is what it is.

Shake it off!

Rumor Control: Draya Michele Clears Up Paternity of her 11-Year Old Son

draya michele and son knicko

Today is clear up the rumors Friday and our subject is second-time mom-to-be  Draya Michele who VH1‘s Basketball Wives  who is finally sharing who her son’s dad is.

We and many other media outlets have incorrectly stated that her son’s father is NBA veteran Gilbert Arenas, but it is not.

Draya took to Instagram this week to clarify the falsehood:

Here is Draya ….. At 17 years old I got pregnant by a man who became incarcerated for 10 when I was 7 months pregnant. With help from my mom, I was able to survive. Now, judging by how under-developed and young I was, besides living in a very small city in PA….. There’s no way in 2002 I got pregnant by some athlete. If I had, there’s not a chance in fucking hell I would have wasted 7 years of my life working “in the club” because clearly child support would be on fleek. I have never received A DIME of child support in my life and that’s ok. I have also NEVER attempted to say anyone other than who my son is named after (yes he’s a junior) was the father. My son’s father lives in pa and makes an honest living being a barber. This shit is completely embarrassing to me and my family. And I intend on putting this to final rest. I’m pissed that I had to take time from remodeling my office in my brand new 4000 square foot warehouse to even address this. But I’ve been quiet too long. I’ve also let people tell “my story” on tv too many times. I’ll speak my truths….. You speak your own and keep whatever momentum going by doing that. God bless. Leave the kids out of it for heaven’s sake. #seemybabyseat #boxdye #walmart

Draya Michele (real name Andraya  Michele Howard) is the longest sitting cast member from reality TV show and today owns a clothing and swim suit label.

“At 17 years old I got pregnant by a man who became incarcerated for 10 when I was 7 months pregnant. With help from my mom, I was able to survive,” she captioned a photo of herself at 17-years old with her son in a car seat nearby. “Judging by how under-developed and young I was, besides living in a very small city in PA….. There’s no way in 2002 I got pregnant by some athlete. If I had, there’s not a chance in f——h— I would have wasted 7 years of my life working ‘in the club’ because clearly child support would be on fleek.”

She also made everyone aware that her son’s father does not support her at all.

“I have never received A DIME of child support in my life and that’s ok,” she explained. “I have also NEVER attempted to say anyone other than who my son is named after (yes he’s a junior) was the father. My son’s father lives in pa and makes an honest living being a barber. This s— is completely embarrassing to me and my family.”

Arenas himself spoke to the rumors last year when he told his Instagram followers, “Draya’s son was at least four years old when I met her and we were [cool] friends.”

Draya Michele is expecting her second child, a son, with NFL star Orlando Scandrick.

VH1’s Reality TV Stars are Having a Baby Boom, but Each is Drama-Filled…READ THIS!

love and hip hop baby boom

I do not keep up with VH1’s Love and Hip Hop or its Basketball Wives franchises at all, but I did notice that those shows are having a little collective baby boom. (and there’s plenty of drama behind each, apparently).

Draya Michele

One of the original cast members Draya Michele, who is still on the show after 5 years since it launched in 2010, is expecting her first child with her fiance NFL’s Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick but sadly the two have broken up.  The former model announced the news in a recent Instagram post that also featured a nude maternity portrait with her body covered in what looks like body cast plaster.

“I am a woman….. I’m creating life…. I’m proud and I’m happy,” she captioned the photo. “I don’t need materialistic things or the love and acceptance from anyone, now that I have you. I love you son.” Michele later edited the post to reflect both of her kids, Black Celeb Kids noted. Michele has an 11-year old son Kniko from a previous relationship with Washington Wizards player Gilbert Arenas.

“I’ve been hurt, abandoned, lied on, and disrespected,” the swimsuit designer wrote. “I’ve realized you can’t change people.. And the thing about rough times is, I’ve survived every single one.”

She finished off the announcement, “Today is a celebration for me …. I’ve made 6 months…. And I’m ok rejoicing alone. I have a son and another on the way, soon to be surrounded by 2 kings. Protectors.”

Michele is 6 months pregnant. Scandrick is dad to twins 5-year old Tatiana and Taylor from a previous relationship, thus, this will be his third child, and first son.

Masika Kalysha

Congratulations is also due to Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star Masika Kalysha who is expecting a baby girl this year. The baby’s father is rapper Fetty Wap (Real name Willie Maxwell) who has refused to take a paternity test to confirm that he is indeed the dad.

“I tried to demand him taking a paternity test,” Kalysha told Us Weekly. “He doesn’t want to take one. I asked him seven times, ‘Will you just volunteer and do it?’ He refuses.”

However, Wap has told TMZ he wants a paternity test.

The break out rapper, famously know for his summer hit and having one working eye, is dad to son Zoovier and daughter Zaviera.

Due to the estranged nature of the couple’s relationship, Kalysha complained on social media that she had struggled with harassment from Fetty’s fans.

“Ever since I made my announcement, the idiot corner (including petty wap) has been in their deepest of feelings running a muck all over the internet with their key board thuggery,” she wrote on her blog. “I was in a committed relationship, with a man who initially got me pregnant.”

Tara Wallace

Wallace is a cast member of Love & Hip Hop New York who has been in an on-again-off-again 13-year relationship with cast mate, rapper Peter Gunz (real name Peter Pankey). She announced her pregnancy on a recent episode of the show.

She then took to Instagram to share a artistic nude maternity portrait which included an Elizabeth Stone quote: “Making the decision to have a baby is momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.”

Wallace has a Bachelor’s degree in theater and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from New York’s Actors Studio Drama School.

Gunz is currently married to fellow show cast member and our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Amina Buddafly. The two have a child together; and he has several children from previous relationships. Buddafly welcomed daughter on July 29, 2014.

The love triangle is pretty messy and hard to keep up with but the drama is somewhat addressed at The YBF HERE!

Wow!  Congrats for all the upcoming new arrivals and we’re wishing a safe labor and delivery to all the expecting moms.

Side note: I wanted to add, all in this group make up a virtual United Nations of nationalities. Buddafly is German  with a Senegalese father, Michele is half Italian, Wap’s kids mom, Reese, is half Guatemalan. Wap’s grandmom is Haitian. Kalysha claims French Creole heritage. “We are the world” indeed, but only to clean up some of this messy drama now….oy!

VH1’s ‘The Family Hustle’ Matriarch Tiny is Expecting 7th Child

The harris family The Family Hustle

Hip Hop royalty continues to grow. On Christmas Day, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris revealed that she and husband rapper, actor, philanthropist and music biz mogul Clifford “T.I.” Harris will be welcoming their 7th child!

In a video posted on her Instagram account, Tiny, who produces and stars in a few TV shows, announces the news:

“Merry Christmas, everybody. Thank you to my family for my wonderful gifts. Thank you to my husband for the beautiful chain…and these wonderful earrings,” then revealing her “tiny” baby bump with a bow on it she continued, “but most of all thank you for our new heir to the throne, the best Christmas gift you could give me, ever.”

The stars of the The Family Hustle reality TV show on VH1 are parents to sons 7-year old Major and 11-year old King, together; daughter 14-year old Dejayah (T.I.’s kid from a previous relationship with R&B singer Niko), sons 14-year old Domani and 15-year old Messiah (T.I.’s children from a previous relationship with LaShon Dixon); and 19-year old Zonnique (Tiny’s biological daughter from another relationship with Zonnie Zebo Pullins)

It’s a true blended family but they make it work!

Congrats to them!

She seems very far along and much more advanced past the usual 3-months but one could understand her reasoning for waiting a little longer.  The family suffered the loss of daughter Leyah who was born stillborn 6-months into Tiny’s pregnancy in 2007 so this new pregnancy will definitely be also a blessing, we’re sure.

The fam reminds me of a hip hop version of the wholesome characters on the 1980s TV show The Cosby Show.

We are certain Tiny is probably nervous and we are wishing her a safe and healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery!

‘Basketball Wives’ reality TV star Tami Roman suffers miscarriage

Sad news for Basketball Wives reality TV star Tami Roman and her boyfriend, Reggie Youngblood, who recently suffered though a traumatic miscarriage loss.

HipHollywood confirmed through a rep for the couple that the loss came at 10 weeks of pregnancy.

It was reported that Roman was past her first trimester by some sources but that was not true.

According to the rep for the former Real World: LA cast member, Roman is “sad” and “heartbroken.”

Roman, who appeared along with Youbgblood on the last edition of Marriage Bootcamp: Reality TV Stars edition, made the announcement during a taping of the Love & Hip Hop ATL after show.

“I feel this is the perfect place to let everybody know that I am granting wishes. I am six weeks pregnant,” Roman said at the time.

This would have been the third child for Roman, but the first for Youngblood, who is an exec for a courier company in Atlanta.

We at Bellyitch are sending the couple comforting prayers and thoughts.

Influential Celeb Moms help Promote Breastfeeding among Black Women

black celeb moms promoting breastfeeding

I was stalking the Instagrammed wedding photos from our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Yandy Smith, the music manager and e-magazine publisher who stars in the VH1 show Love and Hip Hop. I stopped at a glorious photo of the beautiful new mom breastfeeding her infant daughter Skylar right before the ceremony.

She captioned the photo: “OMG @timefrozen you captured my life in a nutshell in this pic. Baby Skylar started crying right before I walked. I had to walk down the isle a little late because I had to feed her. I love this picture. Thank you for capturing this without me even knowing. Lol. #smithharriswedding2015 #moderndomesticegl”

Marvelous! I love Smith’s IG because in all of her photos she comes off genuinely happy and full of life. She seems nurturing, in love with her new husband and children and she embraces her beautiful and curvy new mom body and is confident in her skin even as she amps up her work out routine in recent weeks to gradually get back to her pre-baby size. She’s a great IG follow.

This discovery came the day after I also spotted an equally wonderful breastfeeding support IG pic from rapper Chris “Ludacris” Bridges wife, Eudoxie Bridges, who is an independently accomplished woman in her own right, having recently received a Master’s degree and pursuing a Medical degree.

The photo featured stacks of breast milk the Gabonese new mom to daughter Candace had recently pumped so dad could feed baby while Eudoxie caught up on some sleep.

“Got the supply ready for daddy’s shift ?? #gotbreastmilk #liquidgoldastheycallit #bestdadever #heismrmom #takesnightshifts,” she captioned the photo.

I think both are serving as wonderful ambassadors to breastfeeding to their community of followers that include lots of black and African American women.

This demo stops breastfeeding earliest out of all other racial groups, partially because of culture stigma.

The Centers for Disease Control  reports that African Americans are less likely to breastfeed their children. “Black infants consistently had the lowest rates of breastfeeding initiation and duration across all study years,” the CDC statistics note.

The Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies reports that Blacks stop breastfeeding sooner than other races, setting up their children for higher incidences of illnesses and diseases that non-breastfed children succumb to at a higher rate than those who were nursed. The report also links higher rates of infant mortality and low birth weight to lack of breastfeeding.

There is a taboo about it among the black community, perhaps, and those who nurse for too long are not encouraged or supported and are sometimes egged on to stop breastfeeding after a few weeks or months.  Although to be fair, shorter breastfeeding times are also linked to working wage-earning mothers who have little to no maternity leave who all have to report to work earlier.  Also, moms who have shorter maternity leave and/or work in settings where they do not have a private place to pump and store their milk for their babies, also stop earlier.

Kim Durdin-James, national president of the African-American Breastfeeding Alliance (AABA), summed it up well in saying, “In the best of times, breastfeeding is the optimal feeding choice for young children because it provides babies with all vital nutrients for growth and development, but in times of disaster, breastfeeding can mean the difference between life and death.”

So it is great to see influential women sharing their experience breastfeeding which perhaps could encourage more to do the same, if they do not face any other impediment to breastfeeding like low supply, extreme discomfort or other problems.

Kudos Eudoxie and Yandy!
