Here is a heartwarming story to get you going today.

A Southern California teen  decided to take matters into her own hands and come up with a solution for kids who are forced to eat alone because they are bullied or have no friends.

Natalie Hampton, at just 16-years old, came up with the latest social networking app called Sit With Us. It helps teens find others at their school to eat lunch with, and ease the embarrassment and humiliation of having to dine alone.

The app allows users to identify  themselves as “ambassadors” signaling to anyone else at school with the app to know they can join them at a table  in the school’s cafeteria.

The product creates an inclusive atmosphere on campus.

“Kids can use the app’s features to coordinate lunches with their friends,” according to the description.  “They can also volunteer to be Ambassadors for their schools and post open lunch events on campus where everyone will be included.  No one needs to eat alone!”

Hampton said she came up with the app after having to eat lunch alone during her entire seventh grade year and felt embarrassed and vulnerable to bullies, she told LA Daily.

Sit With Us is a free app that’s currently available for iOS devices.

The app launched last month on September 9th and has since received a lot of positive feedback from users who’ve downloaded it, including many of Natalie’s peers.

“People are already posting open lunches at my school, so I’m very excited that things are already kicking off with a great start.”

Kids can be mean, no doubt, but Hampton shows how kids can also be pretty empathetic and amazing!
