Renee Zellweger Sports a Baby Bump filming ‘Bridget Jones’s Baby’ in London

bridgetjones

Bridget Jones fans can prepare to see Renee Zellweger reprise her famous role in the third installment to the Jones comedic drama based on the popular book series by British author and columnist Helen Fielding.

In recently leaked photos, Zellweger sports a shaggy blue coat and reveals a faux bump underneath a striped top.  Snoops spotted Zellweger during filming Bridge Jones’s Baby at a Woolwich supermarket in London earlier this week.  The movie is based on Fielding’s 2013 book “Mad About a Boy” and her popular newspaper column.

[SPOILER ALERT]……….With Mark killed off in the book, we can expect Jones to be a mom of two and a widow. Girl can never catch a break, huh?  She and Darcy were engaged to marry at the end of part two: Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason.

And as we can see from the studio’s recent tweet, Jones has swapped out her diary for an iPad. Great plug for Apple though I’m sure it paid for the product placement it is indeed an iPad.

Colin Firth returns as Jones love interest Mark Darcy, and though Hugh Grant is not reprising his portrayal of Jones cheating ex, Daniel Cleaver, we do know that dreamy Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy has joined the cast.

Details of the plot are being closely guarded, reports say.

The debuts next fall 2016.

STUDY: Childcare exceeds College Tuition in Most States

childcare bellyitchblog.com

And in “No Kidding, Sherlock” news, a recent report indicates that the cost of childcare exceeds college in most states.

An Economic Policy Institute analysis,  “High Quality Child Care Is Out of Reach for Working Families,” found that child care is not affordable for 2-children median-income households in 10 major metropolitan areas — and is too expensive for minimum wage workers regardless of where they live in the United States.

Childcare costs exceeded rent in 500 out of 618 family budget areas, the study analyzed.

In San Francisco, for example, monthly rent on average is $1,956 for two adults and two children, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The average monthly cost of child care for two children in the city is $901. In Binghamton, N.Y., average monthly rent for the same size family is $692 while the average child care cost is $2,011 a month.

This expenditure impacts households of the nearly 11 million children under five in America in child care. These children spend an average of 35 hours a week in day care.

The Institute intends for the report to influence policy makers.

“As policymakers look for ways to improve living standards for the vast majority of Americans who have endured decades of stagnant wages, increasing child care affordability is an excellent place to start,” the report states.

Indeed, President Obama  addressed child care in his State of the Union address this year.

“In today’s economy, when having both parents in the workforce is an economic necessity for many families, we need affordable, high-quality childcare more than eve,” he said. “It’s not a nice-to-have — it’s a must-have. So it’s time we stop treating childcare as a side issue, or as a women’s issue, and treat it like the national economic priority that it is for all of us.”

Celeb-Inspired Fall Boots Buying Guide for Preginistas

fall boots guide

Cute shoes are a must, and this fall is all about the stylish boot. Scrunched ankle boots or sexy knee high, being pregnant is no time to forget about stylish footwear.

Celebrities manage to look effortlessly stylish even while knocked up and certainly while rocking cut fall boots

However, when shopping for a new pair of boots think about what your feet really need during pregnancy.  Still, you don’t have to cut out style for function, altogether. Mix it up and be creative.

Think Style and function.

Pregnancy can wreak havoc on your feet. They will swell, they will hurt, they may even sweat a little more thanks to hormone changes. All of this means that you cannot grab just any boot off the shelf. There are some important things you have to look for first.

Look for stretchability. If your feet have not start swelling yet, they will soon. And if they are already swollen, they can always get worse. While you want boots that fit comfortable and will not trip you up, consider how much wider your feet could get over the rest of the pregnancy. Look for boots that are a little wider, softer, and can stretch to accommodate your swelling feet.

Go with flats whenever possible. Heels add more pressure and stress to our legs, which can be extra painful when you are already carrying extra weight on them. Choose flat boots over the heels if you can. If heels are a must for you, look at shorter wider heels that will not put as much strain on your legs.

Make sure that your boots have good arch support. This is very important when pregnant, as your feet are subject to more stress than usual. If you have trouble finding good boots with enough arch support, you can always buy add-ins that go inside of your shoes and boots.

Choose breathable, natural fabrics for boots. Leathers and other natural materials are great for helping your feet breath and not trapping moisture against your feet. This can be especially good if pregnancy hormones are making your feet sweat somewhat more than usual. Natural fabrics will help wick moisture away and prevent smells from forming.

UGG makes the perfect boots for pregnancy. The new styles add that sense of flair without sacrificing on comfort. Here are two styles that can be found at Zappos, that your feet will be sure to thank you for wearing.

A pair of great boots can add sizzle to your maternity wardrobe. Before you buy that pair of boots, make sure they will not work against you during the rest of your pregnancy.

Top 10 Signs You’re a Kid with Lawyer Parents

I loved Peyton Price‘s piece in Scarrymommy blog “Lawyer Moms Are The Scariest“. Not only could I relate as a lawyer mom myself but also as to my other lawyer mom friends. I sincerely recall my friend Natasha telling me about not letting her son go on a certain field trip because she wasn’t going to waive her rights away by signing the permission slip. Ha!

Price’s post also reminded me of a funny blog post I published back in 2009 in my first mom blog, “Mischiefmakers” about my life raising my mischievous kids.

It was called “Top 10 signs you might be a Mischiefmaker with two lawyer parents” (my husband is a lawyer too).

I’m going to repost it here for you guys too!

Enjoy!

First family going to church

This post was inspired when I heard my husband tell our 7 year old son that he had to impose “sanctions” on his lunch!

  1. You come in complaining about your brother hitting you and your mom asks you to state the basis of your complaint.
  2. You’re teasing your baby sister and your dad comes in from the other room and warns you to stop “badgering” your sister.

  3. You break the living room lamp and before your baby brother tattles on you, you know you have to decide whether or not to “plea guilty”

  4. You aren’t told to go to bed, but rather to “adjourn” your playing until tomorrow.

  5. You get your allowance in billable hour increments

  6. When doing your homework and you mess up, your mom makes you “re-draft” it.

  7. When you don’t eat your peanut butter sandwich, your dad tells you he is about to apply sanctions and put in apple slices instead of cookies in your lunch box for the next few days.

  8. You tell your mom “Timmy’s mom lets him eat snacks before dinner” and she tells you Timmy’s mom has no jurisdiction in YOUR house.

  9. You know what the word “mitigating” means and you’re only 4 years old.

  10. You get to get out of the corner early when your dad comes home and issues a “pardon”.

Parents Enrolling their Kids in Elite Leagues are Killing Youth Sports

The number of children playing team sports is falling, with experts blaming a parent-driven focus on elite travel clubs, specialization in one sport and pursuit of scholarships for hurting the country’s youth sports leagues.

Baseball, basketball, softball, soccer and touch football — long staples of American childhood — have all taken hits, worrying public health advocates, league organizers and professional sports organizations.

More than 26 million children ages 6 to 17 played team sports in 2014, down nearly 4 percent from 2009, according to a widely cited survey by the Sports and Fitness Industry Association. Total sports played have plummeted by nearly 10 percent.

Some of the drop-off is attributable to the recession, particularly in low-income urban areas. But experts fear larger socioeconomic forces are in play, especially in the suburbs, where the shift to elite competition over the past two decades has taken a growing toll: Children are playing fewer sports, and the less talented are left behind in recreational leagues with poor coaching, uneven play and the message that they aren’t good enough. Seventy percent of kids quit sports by age 13.

THIS is What a Postpartum Body Really Looks Like, Photographer Exhibit Shows (VIDEO)

natalie mccain

Editorial photographer Natalie McCain wants to keep it all the way real when it comes to portraying a real woman’s body after she has welcomed a child.

As part of The Honest Body project that she started to end body-shaming and promote self-love, the Rockledge, Florida photographer captured new mothers in vulnerable black and white photos baring their post-baby bodies.

The collection is titled “After the Baby is Born” and you can view more of the images McCain is exhibiting HERE!

The purpose of the series is to help women love their figures and not feel pressured to have to bounce back after childbirth.  – without feeling any pressure to ‘bounce back’ after childbirth.

“Society puts so much pressure on women to ‘bounce back’ after giving birth and I want to help break that cycle,” she explained on her website. “These women are baring their hearts and souls to help show the variations of bodies after giving birth.”

Rachel Zoe’s New Lifetime Fashion Review Show is Nicer than ‘Fashion Police’

rachel zoe

Rachel Zoe is back on TV hosting a weekly fashion review program on Lifetime Television called Fashionably Late with Rachel Zoe. It premiered on September 24th. It is like Fashion Police meets Watch What Happens Live. But she says it is nicer.

Each week, Zoe and her co-host fashion insider and Vanity Fair‘s Man On The Street, Derek Blasberg, her  husband Rodger Berman, and their celebrity friends, meet up to talk fashion and review the week’s red carpet and celebrity street style.

It also reminds me a bit of the show on E! that I loved that Kristin Cavallari co-hosted, The FabulistI’m not sure if it returned because I haven’t seen new episodes.

Anyway, back to Zoe.  On the second show, the celebrity stylist turned designer interviews another Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum, Molly Sims.

During her 10 questions segment, Sims reveals she is always late and her favorite hashtag is #MomLife. She answers other rapid fire questions. Watch!

This coming Thursday, tune in to see her joined by another one of her friends and another Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum, Nicole Richie!

And another Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Jessica Alba popped in for the first episode.

Watch Zoe chat about the show and why it is different from other fashion talk shows out there now on a recent episode of Access Hollywood.

The show airs Thursdays at 10:30 pm ET.

Writer: Being a SAHM is a Privilege, Not a Job

Being a stay-home mom is a privilege and a lifestyle so quit comparing it to people who have “real” jobs, writer Liz Pardue-Schultz says in a recent article she wrote for xoJane.

Pardue-Schultz, a former SAHM herself, has pissed off a lot of moms with her widely read post.

She pens in the piece, syndicated in Time.com:

“Being a stay-at-home mother to your own kids is not a “job,” no matter how difficult it is or how hard we work. Period. Getting to do nothing but raise a person you opted to bring into the world is a privilege, and calling it anything else is ignorant and condescending.

Sure, parenting is hard work, but so is going camping or throwing a party for a friend; I don’t go around calling those things my “jobs.” And FUN FACT: While there are obviously labor-intensive tasks involved with running a household like cleaning and cooking, those are things every person has to do (or pay someone else to do) regardless of their status as parents, and they don’t define our life’s work.

Obviously, staying at home and taking care of people in lieu of working for wages is a valued lifestyle, but it is not a “career”; people who retire early to care for their elderly parents don’t suddenly tell everyone they’ve gone into the health care profession. Choosing to care for your own small child is no different.”
