Tamar Braxton-Herbert is Slaying DWTS, Red Carpets & Street Fashion (PHOTOS)

Our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Tamar Braxton-Herbert has been slaying weekly on Dancing With The Stars.  The Tamar & Vince reality TV star and her pro partner are given top marks regularly this competition.

This co-host of the panel talk show The Real most likely will be the winner if not a finalist by the time this season wraps.

I am certainly loving her costumes. This flapper look is actually trending given how fringe is back in style. Ha!

And before this original cast member of VH1‘s The Braxtons was rocking the dance floor, she was werking it in some pretty stylish outfits while out and about or on the red carpet.

I loved this wrap shirt dress she wore to the “A Time to Laugh” event in August. The darker hair favors her more than the blonde I think.

But I admit the blond waves were the perfect accompaniment to this smart bandage skirt suit she wore at SONY Music Post Grammy Celebration in LA this February.

I also thought when she styled it in a bob, she had a very smart look as here when dining with her husband Vince Herbert at Craig’s restaurant in May.

I also thought when she styled it in a bob, she had a very smart look as here when dining with her husband Vince Herbert at Craig’s restaurant in May.

This pink sleeveless wrap dress was saucy and ooh showing side boob. This was also in February at LA Reid‘s Grammy party. Seen here with music  executive Sylvia Rhone.
This pic is from last year while she and Vince dined at Mastro’s in Cali but I share today because it’s boots season and these boots are hawt!

Finally, she rocked the deep v cut on this satin blue flare skirt mini dress with gold pumps at the Ford Neighborhood Awards on August this year.

It’s giving me majorette/Pageant talent/dance champion flare. Maybe it’s a fore shadowing. Hmmmm!

Hawt! Haute! Hot!

STUDY: High Blood Sugar in Pregnancy leads to Heart Defects in Baby

Pregnant women with high blood-sugar levels – even if it is below the cutoff for diabetes – are more likely to have babies with congenital heart defects, says a new study.

“We already knew that women with diabetes were at significantly increased risk for having children with congenital heart disease,” said the study’s lead author James Priest, postdoctoral scholar in pediatric cardiology at Stanford University School of Medicine in California, US.

SURVEY: What Pregnant Women Really Eat (INFOGRAPHIC)

what pregnant women really eat survey

Eighty Percent of Women Admit to Taking Chances with Risky Foods;

Sixty Three Percent Are Not Meeting Daily Recommendations for Fruits and Vegetables

American Baby revealed last month exclusive results from a recent survey on the eating habits and preferences of pregnant women.  The findings from the survey, which polled more than 2,300 pregnant and new moms, are featured in a special report, “What Pregnant Women Really Eat,” in the October 2015 issue of American Baby and online a tamericanbaby.com/pregnancy-nutrition.

Almost all moms polled, 70 percent, said they started eating healthier when they became pregnant, however 63 percent are not eating the recommended 5 to 9 daily servings of fruits and vegetables. A shocking 12 percent eat one or fewer servings a day. Many are restricted by extreme food aversions due to pregnancy.

“Time constraints, aversions, and convenience are the top reasons moms-to-be are missing out on beneficial nutrition,” said Mindy Walker, Executive Editor, American Baby. “There is some good news though: 92 percent say no to alcohol, 77 percent are eating breakfast every day, and 84 percent are following the recommended guidelines for caffeine, all of which are critical to a healthy pregnancy.”

Cravings were common among the survey respondents. Eighty four percent reach for foods like ice cream, chips, pretzels, chocolates, cookies, and candy. While these indulgences are common, a staggering 8 in 10 women also admitted to taking chances with risky foods. The study found that 48 percent have eaten cold deli meats, 32 percent have had undercooked eggs, meat or fish, 20 percent have had premade deli salads, and 7 percent have eaten unpasteurized cheese. All of these are considered off-limits because they may contain listeria, which can lead to complications during pregnancy.

“Pregnant women often aren’t given the tools they need to make smarter decisions,” says registered dietitian nutritionist Jennifer McDaniel, R.D.N., a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. “If they aren’t told the reason behind a nutrition recommendation, the message gets lost or ignored because they don’t know why it’s important.”

The survey also revealed that 61 percent of moms are concerned about weight gain during pregnancy and over one third started their pregnancy obese or overweight. Surprisingly, of those moms who were overweight, an astonishing 87 percent said their physicians expressed no concern about it, shocking given that a high body mass index increases a mom’s risk for gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, and delivery by C-section.

Methodology / Respondent Profile

The What Pregnant Women Really Eat Survey was conducted online April 14 – May 12, 2015 among 2,339 U.S. women who were expecting or has a baby one year of age or younger.  Qualified respondents were recruited through a variety of channels including Meredith’s magazine reader panels, websites, e-newsletters, and social media accounts.

Adrienne and Chris Bosh are expecting Twins!

bosh twins

Adrienne Bosh and her husband Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh are having twins, according to a recent interview with PEOPLE.

Just last week, the couple announced a third pregnancy in a most adorable way on Adrienne’s Instagram page.

Now, they are excited to add to their brood which already consists of the couple’s two children 1-year old daughter Dylan Skye and 3-year old son Jackson and Chris’ daughter 6-year old Trinity with his  ex-girlfriend Allison Mathis, whom they raise together.

Adrienne tells the site that twins runs in her family.

“The whole thing is amazing,” Adrienne said. “The Bosh side of the family has two sets of twins, so they are overjoyed at the news of having another generation of them.”

It’s a great turn of events given the stressful end of the season last year when Chris was sidelined by a dangerous blood clot and had to be hospitalized.

“I was by his side until he gained back his strength and recovered,” Adrienne admitted. “In fact, it was Chris who reminded me to go back to work and get the store open. He is so supportive.”

Adrienne also announced that she is set to open up a new boutique in Miami Beach called Sparkle & Shine Darling. It will be a 3,500 square foot glammed up showroom with quaint, posh and exquisite select items for moms, sisters, friends and babies, as E! described it.

Adrienne told PEOPLE she got the idea for store after a Paris vacation Chris surprised her with for her 29th birthday.

“I got the idea for the store after Chris surprised me with a celebration in Paris for my 29th birthday,” Adrienne . “He created a tea party-like atmosphere for me there with all kinds of gifts that were bought at 25 stores and flea markets. I loved it, and when I got back, I wanted to do something like this all in one location.”\

She seems to really be the quintessential mom from what we can tell scoping her social media accounts and should be able to handle the challenge. Oh and having the financial ability to hire assistants help, though she told the mag they will be leaning on both their dads who live near by.

Nice! Congrats!

She joins the long list of celebrities who have Twins club!

STUDY: Sex Boosts Immunity which Increases Chances to Conceive

study more sex increases immunity

Not that you really need it, but here’s another reason to have sex: It’s great for your immune system. According to new research, frequent coitus triggers the body’s natural defenses in positive ways and may jumpstart physiological changes that boost a woman’s chance for conceiving.

The results of the study were published Tuesday in two papers, one in the journal Fertility and Sterility and another in the journal Physiology and Behavior. The papers suggest that having sex during points of infertility in a woman’s cycle could still help improve her chance of conceiving.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are Expecting Their First Child

john legend and chrissy teigen pregnant

Finally! After lots of fertility struggles, model Chrissy Tiegen and her husband singer-songwriter John Legend are finally expecting their first child.

The outspoken TV co-host announced the news on her Instagram account today.

“John and I are so happy to announce that we are pregnant 🙂 As many of you know, we’ve been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn’t been easy, but we kept trying because we can’t wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family,” she captioned a black and white photo of she and john on a couch. “We’re so excited that it’s finally happening. Thank you for all your love and well wishes. I look forward to all the belly touching! Xx”

During a taping of Tyra Banks‘ new panel talk show, FABLife, in September, Tiegen revealed that she and Legend had been struggling to have children.

“I will say, honestly, John and I are having trouble,” Teigen confessed, while cluing everyone in that they had been to fertility doctors. “We would have kids five, six years ago if it’d happened,” she added. “But my gosh, it’s been a process!”

She also expressed frustration at being asked constantly when she would have a baby when she was trying but not being successful.

“So, anytime somebody asks me if I’m going to have kids, I’m like, ‘One day, you’re going to ask that to the wrong girl who’s really struggling, and it’s going to be really hurtful to them. And I hate that. So, I hate it. Stop asking me!'” She said.

She thanked all those who supported her after that big reveal.

“Regarding the IVF business, I have never gotten so many kind, encouraging words in my life,” Teigen tweeted. “You guys are awesome and appreciated.”

Yay! Congrats!

In Lieu of A Columbus Day Post, Here are 3 Celeb Moms with Native American Heritage

native american celebrity

In lieu of a Columbus Day Post, we’re sharing tidbits of 3 Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums who have Native American heritage. It is also Thanksgiving in Canada today and they too are celebrating the indigenous people who lived there before European settlers arrived.

Did you know….

Angelina Jolie‘s mother, the late Marcheline Bertrand, claimed Native American ancestry. She and her partner, Native American activist and poet John Trudell, founded the All Tribes Foundation to benefit Native Americans.

Jessica Biel’s mother’s family is part Native American.

A feature in Vogue in 2010 read “those crazy-high cheekbones are shared by her younger brother, mother, and grandmother. When she tells me that her parents dehydrate their own food, culture their own vegetables, and make their own coconut kefir, I can’t help laughing. ‘I actually do, too’” she says.”

Cree Summer  grew up on the Red Pheasant Reserve in Saskatchewan. Her dad Don Franks, a Canadian musician and her mom Lili Red Eagle, an African American from Cali raised Summer on a reservation and she is an adopted member of the Plains Cree First Nations.
