R&B singer Keyshia Cole welcomed the impending arrival of her second child this past Saturday at an indoor/outdoor baby shower in Los Angeles.
Cole and her partner, aspiring rapper Niko Khale, are expecting their first child together. The new baby will join Cole’s s 10-year old son, Daniel Gibson Jr., from another relationship.
From the looks of a blue floral wall and blue balloons it appears she is expecting another baby boy.
Cole, who starred in three reality TV show on the BET Network and is currently filming a baby special, wore a white gown and a crown of blue flowers for the special occasion.
Attendees included her controversial birth mom Frankie Lons, her adoptive mother Yvonne Cole, Love & Hip Hop Hollywood stars Zell Swag and Paris Phillips.
“4 DAYS TO GO!!!!!!!!!!! Omg!!!!!!! I soooo ready to meet my little munchkin #2 FAMILY AND FRIENDS CAME OUT YESTERDAY AND I WANT TO SAY …………. THANK U SOOOO FOR COMING AND TRAVELING,” she captioned a series of photos from the event.
Family and vendors shared photos from the event on the Gram. The fact she tagged BET has us thinking the network was probably filming for her upcoming special as well.
It’s filled with difficulties like bullying, school violence, social media gossip, enormous peer pressure and overwhelming stress.
As kids get ready to head back to school, what are some ways to increase their self-esteem, boost their confidence and bring more positivity into their lives?
Serena Brown Travis is author of the books “In Case I Forget to Tell You” and “Perfect Penny,” and is an expert in promoting positive and healthy dialog between kids and parents.
She says with our busy lives and in these tough times, it’s more important than ever to emotionally encourage our youth.
Here are a few of her tips how to do this:
– Change your language: Avoid words like should, can’t, must and never. This is destructive language that sets kids up to fail before they even begin. Instead, use words and phrases that leave children feeling empowered. Try saying things like: ‘We’re going to try our best to…’ ‘If we don’t succeed, that’s okay as long as we learn…’ ‘It might take a little practice, but I bet you can get really good at…’
– Critique in a positive manner: It’s important to let kids know when they have done something incorrectly, but you must emphasize something positive. For example: “That was a good try. I really liked how you did…Next time, try and do….” Never belittle their attempts or shame them in front of others as this can leave emotional scars for years to come.
– Be more complimentary: There’s no such thing as giving too much praise. Kids are exposed to so much negativity these days that you can never overdo it on making them feel good about themselves. Simply saying ‘I love you’ is important but really lay on the compliments. ‘You look great in that outfit!’ ‘I’m so proud of you for getting an A on that test.’ ‘You played a great game of basketball tonight.’
– Be a role model: Remember that kids learn by watching their parents. Even when you do something or say something in passing or unintentionally, your kids see it and it molds them into the person they become. Don’t just talk a good game. Set the example and really be the person you want your children to become.
– Create more one-on-one time: The days of sit-down family dinners with deep discussions have been replaced by microwave meals that take minutes to consume. Dedicate at least 20-minutes a day of quality one-on-one time or to talk as a family. Encourage your kids to talk about their day, the positives and negatives. Work together to provide solutions that foster positive outcomes.
– Lift your kids up: It’s a nice thought to think your children’s teachers, friends, coaches and others are going to uplift your kids with positive messages. It’s also probably a little unrealistic. The reality is kids face more negativity these days than ever before. As parents, we must lift our kids up and make sure they feel good about themselves, believe in themselves and that they are excited about their dreams and future.
It’s a belated congrats but I wanted to recognize the former quarterback star of my hometown Football Team, the Washington Redskins’, who is expecting a second child with his wife, Grete Šadeiko Griffin.
The couple shared the news this past May on Instagram in a post that included their 2-year old daughter Gloria in a “Big Sister” T-shirt.
“SURPRISE!!!!! My beautiful wife @gretegiii just keeps adding blessings to our family. Reese and Gloria have a new little sister on the way!!!!” the Baltimore Ravens star captioned his post. “Thank you baby for blessing us with this new baby girl coming our way in September.”
The new addition is expected to arrive in September and will be RGIII’s third little daughter because he also shares 3-year-old Reese Ann with his college sweetheart and his first wife, Rebecca Liddicoat.
Robert and Grete first started dating in the summer of 2016, got engaged a year later in May 2017 and welcomed Gloria in July before tying the knot last March 13, 2018 in a luxe wedding in Miami Florida.
After Grete delivered Gloria, the Heisman trophy winner praised her mom’s work to usher her into the world.
“Your mommy is incredible! The way she pushed through delivering you into the world was the stuff of legend,” he captioned a hospital photo. “Very simply put, Your mom is a certified baller!!!”
This week, Grete showed photo of herself and Gloria supporting their dad at training camp.
When you are trying to get pregnant, no matter if you just started or have been trying for months, timing out your cycle and ovulation dates can be difficult and often frustrating.

To help your bodies processes during the follicular phase, here are the seeds to consume and other things you can add into your lifestyle:
Eat 1 tbsp of ground pumpkinand flax seeds every day of your follicular phase for increase estrogen release and aiding in your bodies production of progesterone, which it needs for the next phase of your cycle.
Focus on foods rich in vitamin-E and omega-3 such as red bell pepper, fatty fish and avocado
High-energy workouts can help you detox
Luteal Phase:During the second half of your cycle (average 12-14 days long), your body begins the luteal phase, directly after ovulation. The lining of your uterine wall begins to thicken, for fertilization or eventual shedding. To help your body perform at it’s best during this phase, it’s important to implement some of the following tips into your daily life:

The minivan has been a staple of suburban living for decades. But consumer demand is fading, a casualty of the sport-utility vehicle boom and auto makers’ inability to shake the “soccer mom” image.
After rebounding slightly following the recession, minivan sales declined 13% over the past two years and fell an additional 16% through June of this year, the worst first-half drop since the industry’s downturn in 2009, according to data from Wards Intelligence, a forecasting and analytics firm.
The minivan’s share of the overall U.S. market has steadily decreased within the past decade, falling from 4.5% in 2008 to 2.8% last year, when auto makers sold roughly 482,000 of the vehicles, according to J.D. Power, a market-research firm. And about 38% of the minivans sold last year went to fleet buyers like rental-car companies—not individuals—nearly double the industry average, the firm’s data shows.

A new study, published in the journal PLOS Medicine, now says that women who follow a Mediterranean-style diet during pregnancy may have a lower risk of gestational diabetes.
Notably, gestational diabetes is first seen in a pregnant woman who did not have diabetes before she was pregnant.
The study found that women who followed a Mediterranean-style diet during pregnancy had a 35 per cent lower risk of gestational diabetes and on average gained 2.75 pounds less, compared to women who received standard prenatal care.
The research was conducted using a sample of 1,252 multi-ethnic inner-city pregnant women with metabolic risk factors, including obesity and chronic hypertension, according to The Week.
Congratulations to rapper Kendrick Lamar and his fiancee Whitney Alford who welcomed their first child together on July 26, US Weeklyconfirms.
No reports yet on the gender or name and don’t expect it soon either as they never addressed the pregnancy prior to the birth.
The famously intensely private couple have managed to successfully keep their relationship out of the public eye since meeting at Centennial High School in the Compton neighborhood of Oakland, California as kids.
They did step out for the Grammys last year, 2018, and in 2015, while promoting a project during an interview with The Breakfast Club, the “All the Stars” performer described his relationship with Alford.
“At the end of the day, you want to always, always have real people around you, period,” he opened up to the morning radio crew. “Whether it’s male or female, and everybody that’s been around me, they’ve been around since day one… I always show respect when respect has been given, and people that have been by your side, you’re supposed to honor that.”
Back in January 2015, he talked about their bond, saying, “I wouldn’t even call her my girl. That’s my best friend. I don’t even like the term that society has put in the world as far as being a companion — she’s somebody I can tell my fears to.” He eventually confirmed their engagement that April, adding, “I’m loyal to the soil.”
Alford studied at California State University Long Beach before becoming a licensed aesthetician, EXTRAreports!
We’ve speculated once or twice , albeit wrongly, about these two being parents, so great to confirm it if finally true!
We tend to think of relationship roles as oppressive and demanding. While at times there are aspects where people are taken advantage of in this area, but ultimately having a role helps us get a stronger grip of who we are.
Roles are not demanded by our gender, but we should take on parts in the house and outside the home that makes us feel valuable. Often sharing the exact same workload can be painful in a relationship because we tend to tell the other how to do things, rather than celebrate their individual contributions.
Defining Your Roles
As a society, we naturally feel the need to follow the traditional roles in a marriage. The mother is often tasked with maintaining the household, caring and raising the children, and often running errands as needed. The father role is usually tasked with providing the income and taking care of other household areas that the mother cannot, such as maintenance, yard work, and more.
However, you must remember your marriage does not need to follow society’s views, and for some marriages, they may even do things culturally different.
The most important thing to decide is what works for both of you and is it fair. Some things that can be a team effort may include:
Generating Income
Childcare
Household Maintenance
Daily Routines (such as cooking then cleaning up)
There may be some areas that you will gravitate toward more than others, perhaps this is based on your enjoyment or experience.
An example of this may be the man wants to do the yard work because he has a nice mower and enjoys using that time to listen to an audiobook or something.
By allowing him to have that space and task, it will let him contribute to making your yard look great but will also give him an outlet for alone time and the chance to listen to his audiobook. T
his may act as a stress reliever and a form of self-care, which is something you never want to deny your partner.
We get so wound up in the argument of who should be doing what so it’s a great idea to sit down and talk about what needs to get done daily then find ways to work together to split the workload and accomplish them together.
This way, you don’t have one person feeling that they need to give so much more, and the other person has it super easy with hardly any responsibilities on their plate.
It all comes down to finding balance, between each other, and what you want to do regarding encompassing roles. Find out what makes you happy in and out of the house and give yourself the role that makes you feel honored in the home with your spouse. And don’t forget – always make sure to stop and be grateful for one another’s contributions from these roles.
A simple thank you or compliment about what they accomplished can go a long way and feel appreciated, especially when life throws curve balls that make even simple tasks more challenging.
