Kobe Bryant and wife Vanessa are expecting their 3rd daughter

Congrats are in order to Vanessa Bryant who is expecting her third daughter with her husband NBA legend Kobe Bryant

Vanessa announced the news on her Instagram account Tuesday night by posting a photo of a onesie with a tiny red bow and miniature red basketball shoes.

The onesie read, “Baby Mamba”, after dad whose nickname is Mamba.

“Blessed, blessed and excited to share we are expecting our third baby girl!!! #Blessed #BabyMamba #Thankful ❤️??????”

He shared the same image and message on his Instagram page.

There is a huge gap between this baby and the couple’s older daughters 13-year old Natalia and 10-year old Gianna. Vanessa suffered a loss in between giving birth to her two daughters when she had an ecoptic pregnancy in 2005.

She started dating Kobe in high school and married him at a young age, 19. He was 23.

The multiple NBA MVP will have a lot of time to spend with this one and won’t be on the road since he retired from the sport this past April after a 20-year run.

Guess we know what he has been doing with all his new spare time. Ha!

Chrissy Teigen Defends Kristin Cavallari against ‘Parent Shaming’

teigen cav

Chrissy Teigen defended fellow celebrity mom Kristin Cavallari after the Laguna Beach alum was recently “parent shamed” and accused of starving her children.

The former Fabulist host posted a photo on Instagram of her sons on the beach during Independence Day and in the photos the boys backs were turned and one looked so thin, you could see his bones protruding through his skin.

“Seeing pictures of your boys and how they look is a bit shocking to see! I know you cook healthy but to see the bones just doesn’t seem normal, sorry!” read one comment.

Of course, Cavallari replied, “Yep, I starve my children. Just blocked the most people I’ve ever blocked in my entire life. Happy 4th hahaha.”

Tegien replied to an E!News tweet of a report about the social media attack.

“I will never know why parents criticize others so harshly, knowing they’d go insane if they were on the receiving end ALLTHETIME,” the best selling cook-book author wrote on Twitter. “NO parent out there thinks they’re perfect. I loathe these s–thead commenters. Who would want to make someone feel horrible for fun?”

She added, “Anyway, love you @KristinCav and screw everyone’s bored ass!”

Cavallari replied to the defense on Tuesday morning, tweeting back “lol thx girl love u and ur little girl is adorable.”

Cavallari is often a source of criticism especially after she revealed in 2014 that she has chosen not to vaccinate her children.

Editor’s Note:

After reviewing several of the comments, it appears to me that the majority were positive and supportive and a lot of mom jumped in to share that they too have naturally thin children who remain skinny no matter how much they eat. When I was that age, I too was so thin my mom took me to the doctor to see if something was wrong with me. There wasn’t I was just a really skinny kid. But as is usual in this social media age, “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.” We, in the media, often report on the minority with the negative or mean commentary and we help make a mountain out of a moe-hill. Just my observation as I have noticed it a lot in recent years since the advent and popularity of social media.

Liv Tyler Welcomes New Baby to Growing Brood, Lula Rose

lula rose

Congrats to actress Liv Tyler who welcomed her third child with fiance Dan Gardner on Sunday, July 10.

“Our gorgeous baby girl has arrived, ‘Lula Rose Gardner,’ unbelievably beautiful, healthy and thank goodness she looks like her Momma !!!! Truly blessed,” the star of The Leftovers captioned the photo.

This is Gardner and Tyler‘s second child together. The couple welcomed son Sailor Gene last year, February 2015. Sailor and Lula have two older siblings from their parents’ previous marriages, too — 11-year-old Milo (born during Tyler’s marriage to Royston Langdon) and eight-year-old Grey (from Gardner’s relationship with Davinia Taylor).

Congrats again!

How the Star who Plays Michelle Obama in a New Movie Hid her Pregnancy

tika sumpter
Tika Sumpter, the actress who plays Michelle Obama in an upcoming  movie (Southside with You) about her first date with the future president Barack Obama, is pregnant.

While getting honorarily inducted in the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at the organization’s 2016 International Convention (Boulé) on Saturday, July 9, Sumpter revealed her bump in a white sheath dress, thus unofficially announcing her pregnancy.

The Haves and the Have Nots star shared a photo of herself with some leaders of the oldest black sorority in the US. Shortly after, she trended on several social media platforms as news of her pregnancy spread.

Before then, the Gossip Girl alum was quite creative hiding her growing belly from her fans and followers on social media by doing what all celeb women usually do: Only share above the belly photos of themselves. She also used careful hand placement and tent dresses to shield the news before she was ready to reveal it.

Full of love. #birthday #Cabo A photo posted by Tika Sumpter (@tikasumpter) on

She has not shared who her baby’s father is or given any clue as to whom she is in a reationship with so…I guess it’s none of our business. We can talk about her Southside movie.

The movie, which was a hit during the Sundance festival, takes a sneak peek into The Obamas’ first date when a young Michelle was hesitant to go on a date with a young Summer Associate and a community organizer whom she supervised at their law firm. Parker Sawyers plays the future President.

The twosome ended up on daylong date on a hot summer day in 1989 that took them from the Art Institute of Chicago to a screening of Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing to the site of their first kiss outside of an ice cream parlor.

The movie is executive produced by John Legend’s Get Lifted Productions. The movie opens August 26th.

Let Hilaria Baldwin Show you How to Exercise Whilst Preggers or With a Brand New Baby

the baldwims
If you are expecting, just having a baby or balancing a few tiny ones and wondering how you can sneak in some exercise, you should certainly follow Hilaria Baldwin on Instagram. She uses her feed to share adorable photos of her children, snippets of her cool life and lots of quick exercise videos.

The celebrity fitness instructor, who is famously married to actor Alec Baldwin, is also great about deflecting and ignoring all of the “hate comments” she gets periodically.

I love what she wrote recently in response to one commenter:

” …Lets begin with your words: “shameless” “perfectly puckered” “pretend to be perfect” “not real”. I am sorry I don’t have any “warts” now, as you told me if I showed them I’d be “cooler”…I have never done a cosmetic procedure and I rarely wear makeup. So what is wrong with my pictures? I am just me. I take pics in all sorts of places….At the laundromat, right before bed, exercising, tired, pregnant, makeup free… I took pics throughout my pregnancy with Rafa and a day after he was born. No filter, no retouching…because I want to show real. And here I am playing with my little girl–no makeup other than a little mascara. I was having a perfectly fun, innocent time. Can’t we all just support each other? We may never meet and you can have any opinion of me you want, but I find that when we project negativity, we miss out. I know I open myself up to all sorts of body shaming when I post like this. So why do I do it? Because I WANT TO BE REAL. These are REAL moments of my life, and regardless of how I look, I am allowed to share them. I don’t want to change myself in order to try to please others. Then I would not be me. I have accepted myself with all my imperfections and weird eccentricities. And I am enjoying my life–which is ultimately what it’s all about, no?”

Amen, sister!

Workin out with all three of my babies!!! A few push-up secrets and tips: 1. You don’t have to lower very far to get benefits. You just have to make sure that your arms stay engaged and activated. I can’t lower very far at this point in my pregnancy and I still stay strong from these mini push-ups. 2. There is no shame in dropping your knees down. Most people who do full push-ups do them incorrectly, so check your ego at the door and use your knees for support. 3. Keep your core engaged! No back arching. 4. Have fun! This isn’t torture and when you see results, it’s like your birthday every day ??! 3 sets of 10! #366DaysOfLivingClearly #HilariaLCM Oh and ps…I’m heading out to an event…hence the getup ?? Rock the Off-The-Shoulder Trend Even While Preggers like Blake Lively

off the shoulder

The off-the-shoulder top and dress is trending this summer. This month, while promoting her newest movie, Blake Lively proved that even moms-to-be can rock the sexy style. Many of the off-the shoulder tops you will find in retail stores are A-line or Tent shirts. That means they are already made of a cut and shape that can accommodate a baby bump. Certainly, off-the-shoulder mini dresses can be worn in casual settings, on the weekend and even dressed up.

I’ve curated my faves. Click the image to be taken off site to learn more about each look:

Too Big and Too Small: Instagram Fitness Stars Bump Shamed

too big too small

Is this the price of being Internet famous?

Just two months ago, we blogged about how Instagram followers had criticized two celeb figures for being too skinny or too “fat” to be pregnant. Now, this month, two Instagram fitness stars were slammed by their followers for having too big and too small a baby bump.

Australian Instagram fitness star Daegen Coyne is 31 weeks pregnant, but has gotten feedback from her followers that her baby bump is not large enough.

“I have had pregnant friends called out for being ‘too big’, others ‘far too muscly’ and myself, the ‘you’re way to small,’” Coyne wrote in a July 5 Instagram. “Given I am yet to see one lady carry their pregnancy shape and size the same as another, I believe it’s safe to assume peeps that there is no ‘one size fits all’ pregnancy.”

BUMP ???I have had pregnant friends called out for being “too big”, others “far too muscly” and myself, the “you’re way too small”. ??Given I am yet to see one lady carry their pregnancy shape and size the same as another, I believe it’s safe to assume peeps that there is no “one size fits all” pregnancy. ???? . I know heaps of the comments aren’t meant to be hurtful or upsetting by any means, but we all have enough to worry about being a new mum (omg scary) let alone whether you are the size you are “expected” to be. ?PS. I don’t think anyone even knows what this size is. I’ve been told one day I am carrying really high and the next “wow you are carrying so low” haha. ?? . Bubba is in fact above average size for at 30 weeks, I am just good at hiding her ??? #bumplove

Another  Instagram fitness star Revie Jane Schulz had to clap back at those calling her bump too big. But it was a throwback Thursday response to all the critics of her bump when she was 24 weeks pregnant with her daughter Lexington, who she gave birth to in April.  Too many, not the majority, said she looked like she was about to bust.

Me at #24Weeks and I looked like a lot of people’s full term ? I know a lot of you babes on here are mama’s to be so here is a throwback for you. I posted this after so many comments were thrown my way for having a massive bump. I was so fed up, even when I had tried on this dress and the shop assistant said “Holy moly! My friend is 36 weeks and you’re only 24 weeks and you’re WAY bigger than her!” She repeated this to the lady in the next changing room to me. I cried while I tried the dress on. I got it everywhere I went and it did make me want to hide away. It’s tough, you’re carrying a human, your body is dramatically changing, more than you ever expected and then to rub salt in it, strangers feel the need to comment every time you’re out in public. Here’s a tip, don’t mention the size of a bump. No “you’re so big!’s” No “oh! You’re so tiny!’s” Just say something like “you look beautiful/ healthy/ amazing!” ? • • • REPOST • • • “Oh babe, wait, my hair!” Turned into a nice profile shot of baby. Now before you ask, I’m 24 Weeks and before you compare your bump to mine, or hers to mine, or whatever, remember we’re all totally, respectfully different. Yes, there is just one in there. Yes, I have my dates right. I’m just amazing at growing a big human ? no matter what size, remember this, you’re creating a miracle. Some of you have asked when we’re finding out gender and the answer is, when we meet him or her! ?? She ended the caption with a public plea to remember pregnant ladies have lots of feelings and to leave the belly alone: “Here’s a tip, don’t mention the size of a

bump. No ‘you’re so big!’s’ No ‘oh! You’re so tiny!’s’ Just say

something like ‘you look beautiful/ healthy/ amazing!'”

Kim Kardashian-West Pens an Emotional #BlackLivesMatter Blog Post

kim k west

Yesterday, while I was scoping out the social media feeds of the celeb moms I post about here on the blog, I noticed that a lot of people were asking Kim Kardashian West to do more than RT others’ messages. Well, she finally did.

The biz mogul and reality TV star penned an emotional message on her personal blog.

“This week we watched Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, two innocent black men, get senselessly murdered by police officers,” she opened. “Like a lot of you guys, I watched the videos, and was appalled and completely heartbroken. I was left speechless, angry and numb.”

Kardashian West is mom to two bi-racial children: 3-year old daughter, North and 7-months old son, Saint and she relayed how the shootings made her feel about her own children.

“I want my children to grow up knowing that their lives matter. I do not ever want to have to teach my son to be scared of the police, or tell him that he has to watch his back because the people we are told to trust – the people who ‘protect and serve’ – may not be protecting and serving him because of the color of his skin.”

She addressed the police killings and anger against officer too.

“The last thing we need is to fuel anger with more hate or violence, especially toward the many incredible police officers who risk their lives every single day to protect our families and communities,” she wrote. “We must peacefully use the power of our voices and the strength of our numbers to demand changes in the judicial system so that brutality doesn’t ever go unpunished.”

She concluded with a call to action.

“It is our responsibility as Americans and as parents to create a safe future for our children,” she wrote. “We must do something NOW. We must speak up until we are heard and real, effective changes are made.”

And she listed the names of some of the recent victims.

Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, Sandra Bland, Sean Bell … and unfortunately so many more.”

She used her major influence people to  contact their local legislators. She shared links to the Black Lives Matter movement’s site and donation websites to support Sterling and Castile’s families.

“Hashtags are not enough,” she wrote. “This must end now.

#PhilandoCastile and #AltonSterling: Celeb Moms Who’ve Spoken Out About Killings

candles

Tonight, we’ve reached a tipping point in America as several Dallas police officers were killed during a rally to protest recent police shootings. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of those men and women who put their lives at risk daily to protect and serve.

Here is a rundown of what sparked the rally followed by solidarity messages from celeb women we’ve featured on the blog:

Within 48 hours, two black men in “concealed weapon license to carry” states exercising their rights to have guns in their pockets were nonetheless shot and killed by police officers. Both killings, one execution style and the other in front of a 4-year old child during a routine traffic stop, has sparked outrage.

Alton Sterling was selling CDs outside of a grocery store in a high crime neighborhood and exercising his Second Amendment rights as an American, carried a weapon to protect himself. Someone reported to the police that Sterling had it out waving at people and after scuffle with the officers who arrived at the scene and eventually took Sterling down, another took out his revolver and emptied a couple of rounds into Sterling’s body before falling off the man’s chest and shooting a few more shots. The store owner and another eyewitness filmed the shootings on their smartphones and circulated it on social media. The outrage has been swift.

That same night, another man, Philando Castile, was driving with his girlfriend Diamond Reynolds and her 4-year old daughter in the backseat when he was pulled over for a busted tail light. Diamond turned on her Facebook Live and shared the incident as it happened with her followers on the social media site. The world was witness to the moments immediately after one officer shot him as he reached into his pocket to pull out his driver’s license as asked to do so by the officer, per Reynold’s account. The officer can be overheard on the video saying “ignorance”.

As with other past police killings of unarmed black men and boys, many parents have been shaken by the incident especially parents of young black boys. In social media, many have expressed fear that when their children grow up, they will be seen as menacing threats simply for being in the skin they were born in and could be the next hashtag.

I know personally, I’ve talked to my kids again as my husband and I do periodically throughout their lives to make sure they are aware what they need to do to escape a possible police encounter alive. My father in law is a retired veteran police detective and my husband’s uncle was a police officer. We fear for the lives of blue and believe Blue Lives Matter as well, but at the same time, we are frightened by the pattern of brutality among some officers.

Review: I Loved these 3D-Printed Eyeglasses I Tested Out Recently

aspire review

As a busy momtechpreneur who is constantly in front of a computer and experiences eye strain at times, I was excited to be given the opportunity to test out a pair of 3D printed prescription eyeglasses made by a relatively new brand called Aspire eyewear.

Aspire is the brand of the vision wear company and retail chain ClearVision Optical. After getting an eye exam and faxing the prescription to the brand’s rep, a complimentary review pair of the style “Adventurous” arrived at the office.

Off the bat, I was impressed that frames were fashionable and super light. The frames in this brand are made up of a new nylon polymer material called SDN-4 which is lighter in weight than typical plastic frames.

The beauty of the 3D technology printing option is that the company can quickly develop a new series in 60 minutes compared to the 20 weeks it traditionally takes. Therefore, the company can stay on trend and quickly react to changes in design preferences or with emerging and new innovation.

The brand launched in 2015 with the philosophy for this label  based on the question: “What do you Aspire to Be?

Consequently, the initial designs were based on 12 “personality-driven looks: Memorable, Dedicated, Unique, Outstanding, Expressive, Creative, Free, Independent, Powerful, Special, Stylish and Connected.

Colors and style range from Boho-inspired florals and animal print designs for women, and modern, masculine, suiting inspired designs for men and women.

Later versions included Poetic, Artistic, Romantic, Influential, Real and Wise. We were sent a pair to review and can certainly attest to the fact that they are indeed pliable and flexible.  We tried out the Adventurous model and agreed it is very  lightweight (the glasses are 22% lighter than typical titanium frames).

The frames were extremely thin but durable at the same time.  Throughout the review period of about two weeks, the glasses stood the test of daily wear. They are easy to clean and are attractive and eye catching.  There is an adjustable nose pad as well with each pair.

Aspire Eyewear is available exclusively at ClearVision retail locations. Suggested retail pricing for the brand ranges from $249.99-$289.99. That is a moderate price range and worth the price for the quality.

The only thing that could have been better is the case that it came in is plastic and a bit on the flimsy side. Overall, they certainly are a pretty good bet.
