Celeb Lux Life: Inside Look At Private Jets

This blog covers the celeb lifestyle and red carpets, and Privatte jet travel, which believe it or not, is becoming more accessible to the general public.

Through Uber-like services and competitive rates, more people than ever before can experience the convenience, comfort, and luxury of taking off on a jet plane to destinations either near or far for business and pleasure.

While your experience chartering your “own” course with a private service will be nothing to sneeze at, the owners of these private jets are taking the term “luxurious’’ to a whole new stratosphere.

Let’s take a private look inside six of the most luxurious private jets

  1. Boeing 747-8 VIP jet

Is it rude to have a better plane than the President of the United States?

Despite the original $367 million price tag, the owner of a Boeing 747-8 VIP jet added another $200 million in amenities to create the equivalent of a mansion in the sky.

No worries, as the Gulfstream G650ER with its humble price tag of just $66.5 million is perfect for those small group jetaways of 8 passengers or less.

With a palatial dining room, big screen televisions throughout and a “master suite with magnificent views of the changing sky,” flying in the current Air Force One model may seem like a step down to a low-rent district in aviation.

There were similar feelings with the powers that be. With plans to retire the two Boeing 747-200s that are the current Presidential ride, the 747-8’s are next in line. However, taxpayers should not collectively clutch their chests and wallets. The Air Force saved significantly on costs by buying the jets from the bankrupt Russian airline Transaero.

2. Gulfstream G650E

lip_20170721_0948_v02r01

Perhaps being the owner of a $500 million private jet that when flown commercially can accommodate 467 passengers is a little over the top for your modest needs.

Flying at a maximum speed of Mach 0.90, this flagship of the Gulfstream fleet can take you from Los Angeles to Geneva in 10.5 hours.  That’s about three hours faster than a commercial flight!  But unlike a commercial flight, you can use a smartphone app to control your custom cabin.

3. Pilatus PC-24

Considered to be one of the world’s best private jets, the Pilatus PC-24 is the epitome of both versatility and comfort.

Often referred to as the “penthouse of the skies,” this little jewel’s price tag of $8.9 million is, in comparison to the other jets on our list, hardly a king or queen’s ransom. As the world’s first Super Versatile Jet, it is in a class of its own and is able to land on short dirt runways as easily as it does on the strips of airports such as O’Hare or Heathrow.

The flexibility also means that you have an additional 880 airports in which you can touch down, meaning that convenience and luxury are not mutually exclusive.

4. Airbus 380

From a Turkish bath to a concert hall with a grand piano, we once again up our game to the Airbus 380 that was once owned by Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal al-Saud. Just as an aside, when the Prince decided to sell his jet in 2013, it was reported that he used the proceeds to “expand his investments in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.”

Now you may be wondering how one can fit a concert hall into a private plane? The A380 commercial model can accommodate up to 800 passengers. Due to the aircraft failing to gain sustainable traction within the commercial industry, production will cease in 2021. Fortunately for the A380, it is becoming a favorite for private owners.

Given its size – it is hailed as being the largest commercial airplane ever built and is an interior designer’s dream for any client with a princely purse.

5. Boeing 787 Dream Jet

The Boeing 787 Dream Jet is the pinnacle of luxury and exclusivity. At a cost of $70,000 an hour to rent, you can see why some use the word “exclusive” when talking about this private jet.

Part of its appeal, beyond its 20 hours of uninterrupted flying time, is its spacious dining rooms and sleeping quarters which are more reminiscent of a luxury cruise liner than an airplane. Now we know where the saying, “it’s the only way to fly” originated.

6. Bombardier Global 7500

Learjet, a Canadian company, was the very first aircraft manufacturer to build private jets. The first Learjet took-off in 1963, and while the competition has become fierce since those early days, the company now owned by Bombardier is still a brand to be reckoned with.

Giving testimony to this is the Bombardier Global 7500.

If we are talking about luxury, the master bedroom is so fancy it is worthy of its, “stateroom” moniker. The fact that there are quarters for the crew too means that your private jet is truly “private.”

Air Style

They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder so choosing the six most luxurious jets in the world today is no easy task.

These jets take into account the diverse tastes and requirements of the most discriminating of travelers to give you a glimpse into how the world’s rich and famous traverse the globe.

Jordin Sparks Talks Getting the ‘Baby Blues’ After Delivering Son

Courtesy People Magazine

Season 6 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks opened up about her post birth experience and getting the “baby blues.”

In a sit down with US Magazine, the “No Air” performer talked about the “fourth trimester” blues.

“Everybody knows about what postpartum depression is,” Sparks told the magazine’s Jackie Miranne. “But there’s this thing called the fourth trimester, which happens after you have your baby””

She added: “It’s dealing with everything that happens with your body. Your body goes and changes, your hormones are absolutely insane.”

She talked about how it all caught her off guard because she wasn’t expecting it but how relying on family and friends helped her get through it all:

“You’re dealing with this baby and then something doesn’t go right. … We’ve got tons of people to hold the baby, but who hold us? Who hold us together? Who helps us get through all that stuff? Obviously, people in your family who knows what you’ve been through and had kids before, but sometimes it feels hard to reach out because you’re like, ‘How do I feel so lonely when this amazing thing just happened.”

In the end, Sparks says a friend who had recently given birth was there for her to commiserate and validate concerns.

She also used the opportunity of the interview to also talk about Sickle Cell Disease foundation she is working with.

Her step sister Bryanna Jackson-Frias, 16, died  of the disease last year following a life-long battle with the condition that disproportionately affects black Americans and people of African descent.

“It’s called Generation S and S stands for sickle,” the Arizona native told Us. “So what we’re doing is we’re encouraging people who have been affected by it in some way – whether a family member or a caretaker, or they’ve been dealing with it themselves – to go online, to joingens.com, and to share their story because we want to rewrite the face of what sickle cell looks like because you can’t tell that somebody has it by looking at them.”

[Editor’s note: Personally, my little sister has the disease as well so I’m happy to support Sparks effort and charity]

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Trademarked Their Two Week Old

Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West have trademarked their fourth child, son Pslam West‘s name for 70 businesses.

This all happened just 14-days into the newborn’s life. It’s not uncommon for the famous duo (or many celebrities these days, Beyonce and JayZ have trademarked their kids’ names).

However, for North, Saint and Chicago who were trademarked earlier this year, she hadn’t specified so many companies.

TMZ reported on Thursday that the savvy couple secured the bag by filing for the baby’s trademark at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 18 under Kardashian-West’s company, Kimsaprincess.

The product categories include: fashion and beauty sectors, baby goods, children’s clothing, jewelry, watches and skin care among others were included in the request.

Currently, Kardashian-West is studying to become a lawyer and plans to take bar exam in 2022. She and Ye also revealed that their family doctor Paul Crane, the same one who delivered Psalm’s bis sisters North and Chicago and big brother Saint delivered Psalm.

She and Kanye celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary yesterday, May 24th.

Big happy news all around for the family!

Ayesha Curry Is Misunderstood

I’ve seen a series of bad articles about cookbook chef, celebrity mom, NBA great Steph Curry’s wife and our Bellyitch bumpwatch alum Ayesha Curry.

They started when she made some controversial comments on Jada Pickett Smith and Willow Smith’s Facebook TV show The Red Table Talk about feeling inadequate about never getting solicitation from other men compared to her husband who has women throwing themselves at him all the time and other topics.

I’ve had friends of mine proclaim that the kitchenware brand owner needs to simply “stop talking” so she would stop garnering backlash.

I decided to actually read the recent article in Working Mother which featured the mom of three’s interview and when I see the latest “explosive” comments in context, I think the opposite of her.

Curry needs to actually keep talking.

AT 37-years old, Ayesha is an restaurateur and co-owner of the “International Smoke” chain of restaurants, an influencer (boy does she get people talking), and the host and executive producer of a new forthcoming ABC TV show called  Family Food Fight.

[*Good job generating buzz, girl*]

I think she needs to continue speaking up and raising awareness on things like the effects of postpartum depression on new mothers, gender expectations and the limitations men place on women and wives, the challenges of being multi-racial, colorism and the self-esteem issues surrounding being accepted and feeling welcome in one’s community.

We are such a judgmental society and we make decisions about people based on headlines, out-of-context snippets, and images that are attached to articles that float across our social media feed.

On The Botched Boob Job

Postpartum depression led to a rash decision to alter her breast size.

“I didn’t realize at the time, but after having Ryan, I was battling a bit of postpartum that lingered for a while. It came in the form of me being depressed about my body,” the CoverGirl and the Honest Company brand ambassador shared. “So I made a rash decision. The intention was just to have them lifted, but I came out with these bigger boobs I didn’t want. I got the most botched boob job on the face of the planet. They’re worse now than they were before. I would never do anything like that again, but I’m an advocate of if something makes you happy, who cares about the judgment?

On Using a Dismissive Comment for Empowerment

“I think a lot of people do not take me seriously,” confesses Ayesha, who turned 30 in March. Despite her ever-expanding empire, people chalk up her success to her pro-athlete spouse. “They think this is something I’ve obtained because of my husband’s income. That’s not true. He hasn’t invested a dime in my restaurant business.”

“When my career was starting to take off, this male reporter bashed me on live television, saying I should be more like the other [basketball] players’ wives. He literally said, ‘They sit there, they don’t cause any problems, and they look pretty.’”

Curry said a comment from a member of the media made her want to be more than just a quiet and silent wife.

“Why am I not allowed to have a passion and a dream and a voice?” she marvels. “That started a fire in me. I could not be stopped, and I wanted to prove myself.”

Since then, perceptions of her has changed.

“Now the conversation has shifted,” she added. “Stephen doesn’t get any negative [questions] about me. Especially in the Bay Area, people say to him, ‘I like her food a lot,’ and that’s been special for me.”

On being Black or white enough

Curry said as a product of multiracial heritage, she felt that in America, compared to her native Canada, she felt compelled to fit squarely into one box.

Her mother is Jamaican and Chinese, and her dad is Polish and African American.

“Everyone was from a place other than Canada and that’s how you identified yourself, not black or white,” Curry shared in that article.

“I identified as Jamaican because that’s where my mom came from,” she says of her childhood in Toronto, where her neighbors were mostly Asian and Indian. “In the states I’m simply ‘black.'”

And she has had to explain these complicated concepts to her kids so they grow up more centered and balanced and do not buy into Colorism:

“They’re fair in complexion, and they’ve said: ‘I’m not black; look at my skin.’ And I said: ‘No, no, no. You’re a black woman. You have melanin. It’s part of who you are. Our descendants are from Africa. This is what that means.’ It’s been a journey teaching them that, and that black comes in many different shades.”

In sum, it looks like she is very much misunderstood, but perhaps it is purposeful.

Folks would rather not read in context or look to nuances or give her the benefit of the doubt.

That takes more work and in today’s digital era, everyone isn’t granted time.

So Drake and super private celebrity women are not the only ones who are capable of hiding a complete pregnancy until baby arrives! Ha!

Apparently, it’s been a dream of his to be a dad forever. In 2015, in a radio interview with Charlemagne Tha God on The Breakfast Club  he revealed his desire.

“Man I want kids,” he confessed during the interview. “I’ve been wanting children before you could even imagine. I raised all the kids in my family. My younger brother, he’s 20-years-old, he just had his first child. I remember when he was a child. I used to burp him, change his diapers, now he got a baby.”

Sweet! No word on who the baby’s mom is or whether she is still in the picture and/or if he welcomed this baby blessing via surrogacy or adoption or some other means.

Congrats!

This Reality TV Star Beat Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to Naming Their Son, Saint.

While reading about BravoTV‘s reality TV star of Southern Charm Kathryn Dennis‘ drama with her ex and co star Thomas Revenel, I learned that the couple actually beat Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to naming their son Saint.

Dennis and Revenel welcomed their second child together St. Julien Rember Ravenel on November 9, 2015 and the Wests’ first son Saint West was born a month later on December 5, 2015.

It was shocking for me to also learn that Dennis reconciled with Ravenel and decided to have a second child with him despite what she said he put her through. In a very recent interview with PEOPLE magazine in advance of the show’s Season 6 premiere, Dennis claimed Revenel sent her away to another city, forced her to hide her pregnancy and birth of their first child, a daughter.

Dennis had her baby girl Kensington Calhoun, now 5-years old, alone, sad and ostracized right after giving birth, she claimed.

“I was removed,” Dennis, told the celebrity and entertainment magazine. “He moved me immediately to a different state, kept my pregnancy a secret until the day I gave birth.”

Dennis was 22-years old at the time and Revenel, the son of former South Carolina Congressman Arthur Ravenel Jr., ran as an Independent candidate for the United States Senate that year.

I won’t say more as those two are in a bitter and contentious custody battle with explosive allegations about each other’s fitness to be a caregiver that you can read more about here.

The 35-year-old model was joined by her boyfriendAlexander “AE” Edwards, and six-year-old, Sebastian, who she shares with her ex-husband Wiz Khalifa, 31. The trio was all smiles while being spotted heading to their car after grabbing lunch at a Cheesecake Factory at the Westfield Shopping Center.

Inside Vanessa Bryant’s Baby Shower for Baby Girl #4

Vanessa Bryant celebrated her Mother’s Day weekend with a baby shower to welcome the addition of her latest princess to the Bryant family.

In family photos of the event posted by Bryant and her famous Los Angeles Lakers retired basketball player husband Kobe Bryant, pink white and gold balloons, butterfly ornaments and pink rose florals in white box vases can be seen in front of a green shrub wall.

“Happy Mother’s Day @vanessabryant,” the NBA legend captioned a photo of his family at the baby shower. “We love you and thank you for all that you do for our family. You are the foundation of all that we hold dear.”

Vanessa took time to pose with her mom at the event.

The 4-time mom-to-be wore a stunning pink bump-hugging, long sleeve off the shoulder dress which looked fab with her neutral baby pink nails, and soft blush makeup, her hair in loose cascading ringlets.

The couple are parents to three girls: 16-year old Natalia Diamante, 13-year old Gianna Maria-Onore and 2-year old Bianka Bella.

They announced they were expecting their fourth child on New Year’s Day, another girl.
