Beyonce Bump Pics: Present and Past, From Blue Ivy to the Twins (PHOTOS)

more-proof-pregnancy-333

Editor’s Note: So your break from Beyonce pregnancy posts is over. Sorry to the non-fans but the Bey Stan in me has a few more things to share. (smile)

This week, not only did Beyonce Knowles Carter give us pregnancy twin news, but she also overwhelmed fans, followers, haters and the like with tons of maternity photos…present and past.

As many know, the multi-platinum selling mega star’s first pregnancy was dogged and plagued by rumors that it was fake and that she used a surrogate to bring her and husband Sean “Jay-Z” Carter’s daughter, Blue Ivy in to the world.

It all stemmed from an interview with an Australian television show in October 2011 where the folds of her dress as she went to sit down made it appear as if her bump had caved in. In actuality, as conspiracy sites have discussed incessantly, her belly, then at 24 weeks was below the dress. But it hasn’t stopped many from thinking Mrs. Carter never carried Blue at all.

From an Instagram share of a beach trip with her bump covered in sand, to a snippet of a video Jay took while they vacationed in Croatia and shared on Tumblr revealing a very early bump, to silhouettes shots and post birth images seen in her 2013 HBO documentary, “Life is But a Dream”,  she has subtly given the doubters visual proof that she really was pregnant. But they are relentless. Even a paparazzi capture of her in a sheer blue caftan by the pool didn’t sway them.

She didn’t seem fazed by the rumors, telling Katie Couric in an interview before a performance at Roseland theater while still expecting,  “You know there are certain things that are so far, it doesn’t even affect me…I am cool, it is so ridiculous and over the top.”

And in the HBO documentary, she addressed it again:

“A stupid rumor, the most ridiculous rumor I’ve ever had about me.To think that I would be that vain. I respect mothers and women so much. To be able to experience bringing a child into this world, if you’re lucky and fortunate enough to experience that, I would never ever take that for granted.”

Being private about her personal life may have been at the root.

She kept her relationship, courtship, marriage and pregnancy pretty private, but has opened a lot more since the documentary, to her very intimate and sensual “Beyonce” album, to the Lemonade album which many have hypothesized was autobiographical and about her marital struggles with Jay.

And now this time, she is being a lot more open about showing off her bump with not one, not two, but several nude and semi nude maternity portraits.

This week, her team also pushed out belly progression photos she took while pregnant with Blue, perhaps to head off new allegations and rumors before they start. Because her head is not in the photos, I’m not sure the suspicious will be convinced. They are certainly not stopping brand new allegations about this pregnancy either.

Oh well. The new photos are buzz-worthy, for sure.

bey-maternity-portait

The one that was released with the news is part of a session with famed Ethiopian-American photographer Awol Erizku, a Bronx, NY-raised graduate of Yale‘s Master of Fine Arts program. Not everyone could appreciate the eclectic purposefully gaudy look to the background and props (the car is part of a previous pop-up installation called “Ask the Dust“, PEOPLE reports), but it is signature to Erizku’s style. (by the looks of his other works)  He says they are made up of the images that surrounding his upbringing in the Bronx.

Queen Bey accompanied the images  from her photo album with the writings of another East Africa-born artist, Somali-British poet Warsan Shire. Her words, from a poem titled  “I Have Three Hearts“,  read:

“Mother is a cocoon where cells spark, limbs form, mother swells and stretches to protect her child, mother has one foot in this world and one foot in the next, mother, black venus.”

I agree with Quartz’ assessment, “that’s just how Beyoncé looks in these pictures, her pregnant body floating weightless amidst flowing fabric, her flower crowns undisturbed.

“Maternity photos will never be the same.”

Bustle mused: “Beyoncé’s latest photo album includes throwback shots of her pregnant with Blue Ivy followed by snapshots of her first daughter’s four years, all sticking with the rule of threes: She’s a family of three with Blue and Jay Z, and now she’s a three-hearted woman preparing for three children.”

Fitting! And now the photos:

Here’s What the Average Family Spends on Help During the Holiday

bag-21467_960_720

The holiday season also involves things like tipping and spending extra money on childcare during holiday parties and times mom and dad are away from home. The household assistant site care.com conducted a survey of families to determine what the average expenditures are, what people are tipping their nannies, babysitters and other home helpers and to generally gauge the temperature of the average American family’s spending habits during the holidays.

The 2016 Care.com holiday care cost survey determined that the average family spends $14.40 per hour on a babysitter; $17.45 on a dog sitter; $17.34 per hour on a cat sitter; $17.48 per hour on event or party help; $16.33 per hour on a personal shopper; $18.88 per hour on a house sitter and $14.98 per hour on a housekeeper.

The outcome of the survey, as compared to last year’s, reveals some other illuminating insights:

Holiday Budgeting

Nearly 1 in 3 people (32%) don’t budget for holiday expenses, and 48% of those who do say they go over budget. 80% of people who go over budget say they spend an extra $100 or more. Although 80% say they would use budget tactics to save money during the holidays, only 49% do so.

Holiday Gifting & Tipping

81% spend money on holiday tipping, compared to 69% in 2015, and approximately half (49%) spend $500 or more on holiday gifts. While 60% plan on spending the same amount on holiday tips in 2016, 24% plan to spend less or not tip at all and 17% plan on spending more this year. Of those who plan on spending more on holiday tips, 42% expect to spend $100 or more extra compared to last year.

Holiday Help

More than half of people (54%) wish they could hire help during the holiday season to make it easier, and 59% would be willing to do so if it meant they’d have less stress and more time. The top 3 types of help that people feel would make the holidays easier for a family are a housekeeper, babysitter, and errand runner/task master. To help save on costs, the top 3 budget tactics people would use to save money when hiring holiday help are cohosting a party to save money on entertaining, splitting the costs for a babysitter to watch the children, and splitting the costs for a housekeeper to clean up post-event.

christmas-1823353_960_720

Here are some suggestions the site offers families for managing holiday help:

When to Hire a Holiday Babysitter? The weekend two weeks before Christmas is the most common weekend of the year for parents to hire a babysitter in order to attend a party. That means Saturday, December 10 will be the night where babysitters will be most in-demand this holiday season. Holiday babysitting jobs are posted an average of 5 days in advance – two days longer than typical babysitting jobs – which means parents looking to attend festivities should start searching for a babysitter by December 4 at the latest.

How Much Are Families Paying for a Holiday Babysitter? Here’s where families can save a little money for gifts and entertaining. The cost of a holiday babysitter is actually less than the rest of the year. The national average hourly rate for a babysitter in December is $14.40 compared to $15.05 for other weekends. Parents living in San Jose, CA, New York, NY, and Portland, OR aren’t quite as lucky as they’re the top three most expensive cities to find a babysitter for a holiday party.

When to Book a New Year’s Eve Babysitter & How Much to Pay? “Our data shows that New Year’s Eve is the second most popular babysitting night after Valentine’s Day. With half of New Year’s Eve babysitting jobs posted within four days before the holiday, we recommend booking child care sooner than later to avoid scrambling for last-minute quality care,” said Katie Bugbee, senior managing editor of Care.com.

In 2015, the average hourly rate of a New Year’s Eve babysitter was $14.34, a 10% increase from 2014. Topping the most expensive metro for New Year’s Eve babysitters is Portland, OR, while 3 out of the top 10 metros were located in California (San Jose, San Francisco, and Los Angeles).

Pet Care

When to Hire a Pet Sitter? During November and December, pet sitting jobs make up a larger share of pet care jobs than at any other time of the year. Throughout the year, the most popular day for pet sitting jobs to begin is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which will be November 23, 2016. 43% of Thanksgiving pet sitting jobs were posted more than three weeks before Thanksgiving and 13% were posted the week of Thanksgiving.

How Much Are Families Paying for Holiday Pet Care? From taking care of toilet-trained cats to brushing an Australian Shephard before bedtime, families are willing to pay top dollar for pet care. Thanksgiving pet sitting jobs for dogs and cats had the highest hourly rates at $17.45 and $17.34. Beyond dogs and cats, families looking for people to take care of their fish pay an average of $17.09 per hour, and the rate for taking care of birds was $16.54. Although pet sitting jobs are temporary, lasting an average of 4 days, they pay 10% more than dog walking jobs ($18.10 compared to $16.43). During the holidays, Thanksgiving pet sitting jobs last an average of 4 days, while in December, pet sitting jobs last an average of 6 days.

Do Dogs Have New Year’s Resolutions? Either pet parents are extending their health resolutions to their four-legged family members or they’re avoiding the outdoors in January. In 2015, the most popular day for dog walking jobs to start was the first Monday of the New Year. January is the top month for pet care jobs that involve walking, play and exercise, with 56% asking for play and exercise, compared to 51% for the rest of the year. In addition, Care.com found that for every 4 degrees further north in latitude, dog owners can expect to get 3 fewer applicants on average.

About the Care.com 2016 Holiday Data

Care.com data, such as hourly rates and advance booking averages, are based on 2015 member behavior on the site. The Care.com 2016 Cost of Holidays Survey captured responses, which were recruited from Care.com, from nearly 1,200 people in the United States during the months of September and October 2016.

We Revisit BeautifulPeople.com Elitist Dating Website and Sperm Donor Bank

beautifulpeople.com website

Update on Beautiful People.

A few years back, we blogged about a new online dating site called BeautifulPeople.com which touted itself as a destination for the world’s most attractive people to meet and date. We were particularly interested in the site’s plan to create a sperm bank for members.

Back then, the cynical us found the site to be pretty shallow. We wrote it off also as a hub for insecure people to go to get validation on their attractiveness by a bunch of strangers.

83f534be-0b23-11e6_1099735c

It is reminiscent of an old website and TV show, “Hot or Not”, which at the height of the reality TV boom represented the moral decay of society and popular culture.

When we reported on the website in 2012, it had gotten tons of press, but as the saying goes, “there is no such thing as ‘bad publicity.’

I was going through my StumbleUpon account and recalled our post about it so I thought I’d check in to see if the site is still up and running. Unsurprisingly, it is!

data-of-1-1-million-users-leaks-from-beautifulpeople-dating-site-503396-2

In order to do proper snooping, I had to sign up for an account (hope my husband or people I know don’t see my profile and go ballistic. lol)

But per the about page, BP claims being responsible for over 700 couples getting married. Its creators also assert that many of their site’s members have been ‘discovered’ and have secured lucrative positions in TV, modeling and acting careers.

As before, the self-proclaimed “elite online club,” allows existing members to vote up the attractiveness of applicants who get to be official members upon receiving a significant amount of votes within a 48 hour period.

If an applicant does not get voted in, he/she may resubmit with a better profile picture and more interesting profile text.

The site was hacked this spring, revealing the names, dates of birth, drinking habits, salaries and physical attributes of its members as well as beauty ratings, educational details, genders, job titles, passwords, personal descriptions, interests, smoking habits and whether members own a car or a house.

One security expert told told Forbes that 15 million private messages, some of which contained salacious requests, had also been leaked. The data was being traded online, Mr Hunt added. The site was hacked when it first launch in 2011 but in that hack, an estimated 30,000 people were allowed to gain access and admitted to the site before being vetted.

In 2015, the site kicked out about 3,000 for no longer being beautiful. What? And the site, which has rejected 7.5 million applicants since it first launched in 2002, is responsible for people getting plastic surgery to gain admittance.

I was unable to confirm if the site had actually launched its egg and sperm donor bank or not but I did find one commentary blog post from this year about it.

Our update response: meh. still superficial.  The closing tagline on the “about” page on the website still gives us negative feels:

“BeautifulPeople provides the ideal platform to meet new and beautiful people. It is a smart technology and is geared towards a user friendly environment. The walled community also assures privacy and an exclusive virtual world for the aesthetically blessed only.”

Viral Fit Mom Admits Rock Hard Abs Caused Delivery Complications

12705504_1706261122983961_8227662551613040045_n

Australian fitness trainer Chontel Duncan gamed fame earlier this year for her rock hard abs that she used to show off in progression photos on her Instagram account and revealed this week that those abs actually caused complications during delivery of her son, Jeremy. ‘

Duncan returned to Instagram to confess that her delivery doctors ” struggled to rip Jeremiah from my tummy as my abs locked him in super tight as I began vomiting during the operation.”

She revealed that she is left with an unusually long c-section scar because of her abs.

“This is why my scar was cut up on my right side because the surgeon had to cut me further an use forceps to successfully get Jeremiah out,” she wrote in a caption to a photo of her bikini-line scar.

[Part 2] I CRIED I felt like I failed… but then @sam_hiitaustralia reminded me of my mantra which was “to go through all means necessary so baby feels nothing” & I smiled. With confidence I signed the forms & within 20mins had my baby in my arms. They struggled to rip Jeremiah from my tummy as my abs locked him in super tight as I began vomiting during the operation. This is why my scar was cut up on my right side because the surgeon had to cut me further an use forceps to successfully get Jeremiah out. Perhaps a down side to a strong core ? I healed according to my doctor normally, my scar isn’t small, it’s quiet large & I can feel in the centre scar tissue, I tried Bepanthen Scar Treatment & Skincerity breathable masque an this is what I have been left with. I would love 3 more children & I will always try for a vaginal birth with each one. So to all the women out there wearing a cesarean scar, I am VERY proud of what mine means & for the beautiful gift I received through mine. They are memories of the day we all became mummies ???❤️?

Despite the trauma, Duncan said she is happy for the experience and posted her scar out of solidarity with other women who wear pregnancy-related scars.

And here she is with perfect abs again after birth. Whoa!

Our two-time Bellyitch Bumpwatch mama Kelly Clarkson is trending because of her phenomenal cover of Sia‘s “Chandalier” while wearing one of the Australian artist’s signature eye-covering bleach blonde wigs.

The American Idol alum stood in front of a gorgeous flowered wall in her Nashville and belted out an a capella version of the 2014 hit.

“I don’t know how she does this ’cause, ya know, you can’t see,” Clarkson joked afterward of Sia’s hair. “But it’s also kind of awesome, because you’re in your own little world when you’re performing … I love that song. Everybody loves that song.”

Sia, who has penned hit songs for Rihanna, Katy Perry and others in addition to her own, has a signature look the includes half black, half white hair.

Clarkson ended the performance by promoting her second annual all-star Miracle on Broadway Christmas benefit show, set for December 16th at downtown Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

The event, which benefits four local charities, also features Reba, Ronnie Dunn, Kelsea Ballerini, RaeLynn, the Steeldrivers and Chip Esten.

Backfired: Teens given Pregnancy Prevention Baby Simulator Dolls Got Pregnant Anyway

Girls given interactive baby dolls were more likely to become pregnant or have an abortion

Researchers tracked girls in 57 schools in Western Australia, from ages 13 to 15 until 20, through hospital medical and abortion clinic records. Among the 2,800 girls who participated in the study from 2003 to 2006, 1,200 were randomly assigned to participate in baby simulator programs, while the rest underwent the standard pregnancy prevention curriculum.

Baby simulator programs, designed to teach teenage girls how difficult it is to take care of a baby and deter them from getting pregnant, may actually backfire.

The simulator program, called Virtual Infant Parenting, is an adaptation of the American Baby Think It Over program, created by Realityworks. The VIP program consists of workbooks, documentary viewing, four educational sessions and caring for interactive baby dolls over the weekend, from Friday afternoon to Monday morning.

The fake baby cries when it needs be fed, burped, rocked or changed and tracks mishandling and how well the doll is cared for. At the time of the study, each doll cost about $1,200 Australian, equivalent to about $900 US.

We Said It: Celeb Kids Stimulate New Businesses

The Fader published an informative news story recently about how celebrity children are helping to spawn a booming industry for couture kids clothing. It was a topic we’ve blogged about here.

The insightful article also explored the world of Instagram baby swag moms who outfit their children in fashionable chic clothing, and get famous doing so.

We’ve blogged about that trendy phenomena too as discussed before here.

Still, it was great to see the piece quoted an author who validated a concern I have with those baby swag Tumblr and IG pages:

In Kids and Branding in a Digital World, published last year the media theorist Barrie Gunter argues that the success of designer diffusion lines “play[s] on the idea that parents are the source of earliest social learning for their kids,” thereby encouraging parents to project their own brand valuations onto their children. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as Gunter hypothesized, unless children become “overly sensitised to a need to be seen as trendy and fashionable and where self-identity is centrally defined in terms of commercial brand associations.”

One small correction: The Fader piece states that luxury brands started getting into the children’s market beginning in 2010. But on the contrary, beginning in 2008, we began posting a biennial most expensive baby clothes list and Gucci, Chanel and Dior were on it back then too.

Big brands been in the rich babies game.

I did appreciate the inclusion of Australian-based designer Winnie Aoki who dresses Blue Ivy and other celebrity kids in her 5-figure costing originals that each take 300 hours for Aoki to complete.

Aoki, the site pens, was

responsible for the $2,000 dress Blue Ivy wore to her grandmother’s birthday, specializes in kid couture. Aoki crafts dresses from confectionery layers of tulle, sequins, and luxury fabrics under the label Mischka Aoki, named after her own 8-year-old daughter. The dresses, which can take up to 300 hours to craft, frequently come with five-digit price tags. According to her website, Aoki started the brand after she realized there weren’t any clothing options “good enough for her daughter”; for her, “clothes represent style and luxury at the same time.” While it may have been difficult to locate high-end designer clothing for children in 2008, when Mischka was born, the line’s explosive popularity — Aoki has dressed not just Blue Ivy, but North, Penelope Disick, and Suri — is an indicator of the steadily increasing desirability of luxury children’s wear.

It was a well written and researched article. You should check it out here!

Too Big and Too Small: Instagram Fitness Stars Bump Shamed

too big too small

Is this the price of being Internet famous?

Just two months ago, we blogged about how Instagram followers had criticized two celeb figures for being too skinny or too “fat” to be pregnant. Now, this month, two Instagram fitness stars were slammed by their followers for having too big and too small a baby bump.

Australian Instagram fitness star Daegen Coyne is 31 weeks pregnant, but has gotten feedback from her followers that her baby bump is not large enough.

“I have had pregnant friends called out for being ‘too big’, others ‘far too muscly’ and myself, the ‘you’re way to small,’” Coyne wrote in a July 5 Instagram. “Given I am yet to see one lady carry their pregnancy shape and size the same as another, I believe it’s safe to assume peeps that there is no ‘one size fits all’ pregnancy.”

BUMP ???I have had pregnant friends called out for being “too big”, others “far too muscly” and myself, the “you’re way too small”. ??Given I am yet to see one lady carry their pregnancy shape and size the same as another, I believe it’s safe to assume peeps that there is no “one size fits all” pregnancy. ???? . I know heaps of the comments aren’t meant to be hurtful or upsetting by any means, but we all have enough to worry about being a new mum (omg scary) let alone whether you are the size you are “expected” to be. ?PS. I don’t think anyone even knows what this size is. I’ve been told one day I am carrying really high and the next “wow you are carrying so low” haha. ?? . Bubba is in fact above average size for at 30 weeks, I am just good at hiding her ??? #bumplove

Another  Instagram fitness star Revie Jane Schulz had to clap back at those calling her bump too big. But it was a throwback Thursday response to all the critics of her bump when she was 24 weeks pregnant with her daughter Lexington, who she gave birth to in April.  Too many, not the majority, said she looked like she was about to bust.

Me at #24Weeks and I looked like a lot of people’s full term ? I know a lot of you babes on here are mama’s to be so here is a throwback for you. I posted this after so many comments were thrown my way for having a massive bump. I was so fed up, even when I had tried on this dress and the shop assistant said “Holy moly! My friend is 36 weeks and you’re only 24 weeks and you’re WAY bigger than her!” She repeated this to the lady in the next changing room to me. I cried while I tried the dress on. I got it everywhere I went and it did make me want to hide away. It’s tough, you’re carrying a human, your body is dramatically changing, more than you ever expected and then to rub salt in it, strangers feel the need to comment every time you’re out in public. Here’s a tip, don’t mention the size of a bump. No “you’re so big!’s” No “oh! You’re so tiny!’s” Just say something like “you look beautiful/ healthy/ amazing!” ? • • • REPOST • • • “Oh babe, wait, my hair!” Turned into a nice profile shot of baby. Now before you ask, I’m 24 Weeks and before you compare your bump to mine, or hers to mine, or whatever, remember we’re all totally, respectfully different. Yes, there is just one in there. Yes, I have my dates right. I’m just amazing at growing a big human ? no matter what size, remember this, you’re creating a miracle. Some of you have asked when we’re finding out gender and the answer is, when we meet him or her! ?? She ended the caption with a public plea to remember pregnant ladies have lots of feelings and to leave the belly alone: “Here’s a tip, don’t mention the size of a
