Inside Expecting Chrissy Teigen’s Pan Am Theme 32nd Birthday Party

Second-time mom-to-be Chrissy Teigen celebrated her 32nd Birthday at the Pan Am Experience in Pacoima, California.

The celebration took place aboard a Pan Am American World Airways 747 at the adult theme park. Guests included her husband John Legend, and their couple bffs Kim Kardashian-West and her husband Kanye West. Kim dressed in a Jackie Kennedy Onasis pale pink dress, white heels, dark shades and wore a buffant wig.

Teigen was outfitted in a salmon colored tweet 60s style suit and square handbag, quite fitting with the era theme.

Kim’s mom Kris Jenner attended as well in a black cape, neck scarf and carried vintage luggage.

The party attendees played Bingo and used bingo markers with Teigen’s face on it. She later got up doing a full in-flight demonstration while dangling a fake cigarette from her mouth.

Theme era parties are all the rage among adult celebs. Serena Williams held a 1950s baby shower and Southern Charm’s Cameran Eubanks had a 1960s-era Slim Aarons baby shower.

2017 BET Awards Trends: 90s Comebacks, Africa, Platinum Blonde and Babies

collage-picmonkey-s-photo-editor-free-online-image-editing

The 2017 BET Awards went down at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California. I confess that I only got a chance to catch the end as I was heading to the beach to celebrate my eldest kid’s birthday and didn’t settle in to our suite until the show was well into its fourth and final hour! But I must say, that I thorougly enjoyed the singing chops of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Tamar Braxton who did an excellent job performing her new song, “My Man” on stage.

Tameka Tiny Cottles Harris, LaTocha and Tamika Scott and Kandi Burruss of 1990s girl group Xscape reuniting soon for a tour

Sadly, I missed a couple of our other bumpwatch alums, Kandi Buruss and Tameka “Tiny” Harris perform with their 1990s R&B girl group, Xscape

img_7715

The duo joined fellow members LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott in a medley of their hits on stage since breaking up as a group 18 years ago. It was the first of two explosive 90s R&B performances. The New Edition tribute and performances later blew me away!

Xscape will document their work as they prepare to perform at the 2017 Essence Festival. The docuseries, titled Xscape: Still Kickin’ It, premieres this fall on Bravo.

WATCH:

I noticed some fashion and hair trends beginning with the blunt platinum bob LaTocha Scott and Braxton wore. Singer-Actress Kat Graham who plays Jada Pinkett-Smith in the new movie All Eyez on Me, rapper and star of Love & Hip Hop: New York Cardi B and our other bumpwatch alum Blac Chyna  all did the blunt blonde bob.

And platinum blonde, in general,  had a big showing  on Tiny’s daughter Zonnique, who is also a recording-artist. She wore her hair in that shade as did Lateysha Grace, a German transplant who has been on three seasons of MTV show The Valleys.

Clockwise: Lateysha Grace, Zonnique, Cardi B and Blac Chyna in platinum blonde hair.

It was also cool to see so many parents bring their children to the show. DJ Khaled actually brought his son Asahad on stage with him during his performance. It reminded me of all the NBA babies at their dads’ games.

70180aa0-6f2d-4e4e-b0ec-b645c2dc0726

Jamie Foxx had his daughter Annalise help him present on stage and Future got his daughter Londyn a matching bedazzled mask to wear in honor of his popular new single “Mask Off” which he later performed that night with a cameo from Kenderick Lamar. Another big winner was Chance the Rapper whose mom accompanied him to the show.

Speaking of Winners. Beyonce was a BIG winner taking home the most awards for Best Female R&B Performer, Viewers’ Choice, Video of the Year for her song “Sorry” (which tied with Bruno Mars) and is off her album Lemonade, which one for Album of the Year.  The director for “Sorry” won the for Best Director.

Her sister Solange  took home the Centric Award for her song “Cranes in the Sky” which also earned the star her first Grammy award earlier in the year.  Besides Solange, we spotted a few of our other Bumpwatch alums at the event including Keyshia Cole.

Speaking of Blac Chyna and Amber Rose. The two of them once famously attended back to back awards shows in 2015 hand in hand but last night came with other people, Chyna with other people.

I also want to shout out other aspects of Africa represented last night in the strapless Ankara  (West African) dresses worn by beauty blogger Jennie Jenkins and The Color Purple veteran actress  Margaret Avery and actress Nomzamo Mbatha‘s South African print trimmed dress and in South Sudanese model Duckie Thot, Sudanse vlogger Nikki Perkins and Afro German soap opera actress  Sandra Lambeck.

Bumpwatch Roundup: Beyonce, Whitney Port, Serena Williams

bumpwatch-roundup

If you keep up with this blog, by now you know that we stalk keep track of your fave expectant celebrity so you don’t have to.  This week, we spotted The Hills alum Whitney Port doing a great job masking the fact she has had a tough pregnancy by looking fabulous in a black kimono during a press call in NYC recently while promoting a partnership with Dove.

On the Snap, we spotted Serena Williams posted a new series of bump progression photos after attending her baby shower in Miami with family and friends (UPI)

Bey is also back serving up sheer styling and bringing back her famous fedora hat from her “Freedom” video. (Instagram) She rocked a $120 maternity dress from Mina Roe and a pair of  $1,140 Stella McCartney platform sandals made by our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Stella McCartney, and carried a $2,700 Gucci GG Marmont shoulder bag. Beyonce Will Join This Growing List of Celebrities with Twins

beyonce-twins

Another celebrity diva is expecting twins! Beyonce announced on her Instagram page today  that she and her husband Jay-Z are expecting twins. She posted an artistic photo of herself in bra and undies wearing a veil sitting in a bed of flowers and roses.

She joins fellow singing diva Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Jennifer Lopez in twin motherhood and others like WNBA player Glory Johnson; celebrity spouses (or ex) Adrienne Bosh, Kayte Grammar, Kim Porter; Actresses Angelina Jolie,  Geena Davis, Anna PaquinDaya Vaidya, Garcelle Beauvais, Molly Ringwald, Mo’Nique, Sherri Saum, Holly Robinson-Peete, Rebecca Romijn,  Marcia Cross, Lisa Marie Presley, including via surrogates as with Sarah Jessica ParkerAngela Basset, Julie Bowen, Neil Patrick HarrisRicky Martin, among others.

HOW TO INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF GIVING BIRTH TO TWINS

“We would like to share our love and happiness,” the 20-time Grammy winner captioned the baby bump photo which has been shared 2M times as of this posting. “We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes.”

Also, there is something about Grammy Awards  when it comes to Beyonce announcing a pregnancy. She shared the news of her pregnancy with her first child, Blue Ivy following a performance in 2011 (arguably starting the red carpet reveal trend) and today, a couple weeks before the Grammy’s, here she is again to with baby news.

For the most part, the singer-songwriter has kept a lay profile for a while now since wrapping up her world tour last year. [side bar: I was just thinking about how Adele ended her tour by announcing she would be off to try to get pregnant again]

There has been a lot of speculation about a second child for several years now. And also, for the record, this is her third pregnancy.  In 2013, the multi-platinum selling artist revealed that she had suffered a miscarriage prior to the arrival of her daughter.

“About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time,” she revealed in a self-produced HBO documentary. “And I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life.

“I picked out names. I envisioned what my child would look like. I was feeling very maternal.

“I flew back to New York to get my check up – and no heartbeat. Literally the week before I went to the doctor, everything was fine, but there was no heartbeat.

“I went into the studio and wrote the saddest song I’ve ever written in my life. And it was actually the first song I wrote for my album. And it was the best form of therapy for me, because it was the saddest thing I’ve ever been through.”

I am excited for her and Blue Ivy, her daughter with Jay-Z. I am also looking forward to the bump watch and checking out what she will wear to this year’s Grammy red carpet on February 12.

This news comes the same week we learned about Pharrell Williams‘ triplets.

Multiples are the new singleton.  lol

Our 2017 People’s Choice Awards Run down

people's choice awards red carpet 2017

Blake Lively, Kristen Bell, Ali Arter and Jennifer Lopez attended the 2017 People’s Choice Awards.

I love the People’s Choice Awards, held this year at Microsoft Theater on January 18, 2017 in Los Angeles, California, for several reasons: 1) the nominees include a broad array of actors, actresses and TV shows, movies and bits that the average person enjoys, not just critics, film producers and elites; 2) they spread the love around and there isn’t one show or person that dominates all the awards; and 3) they have fun category like best collaboration. I mean the nominees this year for that category included:

Conan O’Brien’s Ride Along with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart

Ellen DeGeneres and Britney Spears’ Mall Mischief

James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke with Adele

Lip Sync Battle with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum

Saturday Night Live with Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon

How fun, eh?!?

A bunch of our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alums presented like Jada Pinkett Smith in Dolce&Gabbana and Christian Louboutin shoes and Ali Larter, who looked stunning in a cute pink strapless Zac Posen mini dress.

Henson, Viola Davis, for example. See…what I mean? They nominate everyone!

And then there were the winners: Jennifer Lopez, who stunned in a Reem Acra gown, Brian Atwood shoes, and H. Stern jewels won for Favorite TV Crime Drama Actress.

Brand new second-time mom Blake Lively showed out in in a black fringe Elie Sabb mini dress to pick up her win for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress for her role in The Shallows.

Kristen Bell got two: a win for the Favorite Actress in a  New TV Series for her role in The Good Place and her popular movie Bad Moms won for Favorite Comedic Movie.

Grey’s Anatomy Sarah Drew, Fuller House’s Jodie Sweetin and Grey’s Camilla Luddington, who is in her third trimester of pregnancy and looking fabulous.

Sarah Drew in a Self-Portrait mini dress and Camilla Ludington‘s show Grey’s Anatomy won for Favorite Network TV Drama. Luddington wore a black and sheer mid-length Heidi Merrick dress, Casadei pumps and jewels by Established Jewelry. Fuller House and cast were on hand to accept their win for the Favorite Premium Comedy Series, including Jodie Sweetin attended. She juxtaposed her inner rocker girl in a Linea Pelle Collection leather jacket with a dainty wearing a  feminine floor-length floral dress from Sheri Hill underneath.

Sofia Vergara was statuesque in Marchesa and Neil Lane jewels  while winning the award for Favorite Comedic TV Actress.

Carrie Underwood wasn’t there but she walked away with the Favorite Female Country Artist award.

The biggest winner among all our alums was Britney Spears who nabbed the Favorite Pop ArtistFavorite Social Media Celebrity and the Favorite Comedic Collaboration for her “Mall Mischief” bit with Ellen DeGeneres. She was a no-show, however. Poo.

We’re in Another Cycle Where A Bunch of Hot Models are Preggers

social media models

Every once in a while a bunch of hot models  (like here and here and here) get knocked up at the same time and we collectively hate them. And when I say “hate”, I mean “get jealous of them for staying relatively hot and thin and looking like they just ate a big meal, not like they’re incubating another human being in their uterus, while we’re sitting over here 6 years later, still looking like we just gave birth two days ago.”

ha!

Anyway… we are in a new round of a bunch of models being pregnant and they’re online and in social media looking cute, as usual. Here are where you can find recent pics:

Victoria Secret model Behati Prinsloo shared a sexy baby bump photos (US Weekly)

Former model and current actress Liv Tyler (The Leftovers) took a stroll with a friend and Instagram shared it (PopSugar)

Another Supermodel Bar Rafaeli did a swimsuit bump share too. (In Style)

Model and new mom Chrissy Teigen shared a super cute photo of herself holding a new daughter Luna, affectionately called LuLu (Celebrity Baby Scoop)

2016 Grammys Red Carpet: All Black Everything, Slits & Lesser Known Designers

grammy 2016

Ok. This 2016 Red Carpet report is very late because this year, instead of just covering the Red Carpet, I actually took the time I usually spend to assemble my red carpet coverage to instead  actually watch the show. Wrong move.

  • sigh *

Besides a few highlights, the 58th annual Grammy Awards held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California was very underwhelming. Even the fashion on the Red Carpet was * meh * .

One of the best parts wasn’t even in the show, but our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Gwen Stefani doing the first ever Live Music Video of her latest single “Make Me Love You” in a Target sponsored spot.

I kept wanting the award show broadcast to get better but it didn’t really rise the level of awesomeness I’m used to. Anyway, so enough of my excuses. Back to the Red Carpet coverage.

This year, the theme I saw woven in many of the looks was Black. Also there were plenty deep Slits in the leg and I saw several lesser-known designers shine.

As usual, while many people stood out, we focused on the celebrity moms we’ve featured on the blog before.

Alessandra Ambrosio stayed true to Versace and her ring game was on fire!

TV host and former reality TV star Vanessa Simmons looked quite regal in yellow.

Ciara bared leg and then some in a sexy Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture gown. I dare say she won the battle of whose slit could go up the farthest.

And Carrie Underwood looked stunning in a Nicolas Jebran satin ball gown also with a deep side slit.

adele chrissy vanessa 2016 grammys

Adele stuck to her signature black in a sequinned Givenchy dress accented with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Mom-to-be Chrissy Teigen looked quite royal in Yousef Al-Jasmi with Stuart Weitzman heels and Lorraine Schwartz jewels. Between the heels and the long cape, I admit I was biting my nails in hoping she didn’t trip given she’s in her third trimester of her pregnancy.

Vanessa Lachey went for the vixen look in her Michael Cinco butterfly overlay sequined dress with a very sheer bottom.

Adele did deviate from black and went with Givenchy again for her stage performance of her latest single “All I Ask”.

She had a slight glitch in the beginning when the mics for the piano apparently fell off and landed on the baby grande’s strings. It made her sound off pitch or key at times. Apparently, those in the Staples Center couldn’t tell as they heard a near flawless version of the song.

Underwood also rocked out with Sam Hunt on stage

And finally, Queen Bey made an appearance to announce Record of the Year in slick back hair, natural make up and a organza, lace and embroidered gown.

These Celeb Parents Rocked the 2015 Latin Grammy Awards Green Carpet

grammy latin

Tonight is the  the 16th Latin GRAMMY Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on November 19, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and our Bellyitch Bumpwatch alum Roselyn Sanchez co-hosted the biggest night for Latin artists.

Before the show we spotted another Bellyitch alum Zoe Saldana looking back to her super svelte self in a cute pencil skirt length black dress.

Not a mom but another regular featured parent, Ricky Martin looked extra dapper tonight.

Sanchez did an illuminating color, white, the night before attending the 2015 Latin Grammy Person of the Year Honoring Roberto Carlos in Las Vegas yesterday. Nice!

Jada Pinkett-Smith, one of our posh mom style icon recipients, went with embroidered overlay white dress with the bodice shear and strategically placed over her breasts. She was alongside her husband Will Smith who was set to perform with Bomba Estero during the ceremony.

Designer Liz Lange Flips Maternity Don’ts On their Head with These 5 Style Tips

Sponsored

liz lange maternity dos and donts bellyitchblog.com

Liz Lange was doing maternity chic before maternity chic existed. The New York Fashion designer revolutionized  a market that was misunderstood.

I know it well.

When I was expecting my first child over 13 years ago, the maternity fashion industry wasn’t as robust as it is now. Pregnant women who wanted fashionable clothing had to be creative, sew their own pieces or mix non-maternity items with the limited options available then.

A friend of mine had a trunk show with these fab and super cute colorful and chic clothes that designer Liz Lange released. I was giddy and headed over and scored some awesome pieces. I wore a couple pieces to my baby showers. I still own some of them today which is a testament to their high quality and durability. Liz Lange, inventor of “Maternity chic“,  is still creating gorgeous maternity clothes, with an imprint that can be found in Target and Target.com and is available widely to many more women.

Turned away by high end stores who told her pregnant women don’t care what they look like and didn’t agree initially to stock her designs, Lange persevered and kept on keeping on and eventually scored some celebrity clients like Kelly Ripa and Cindy Crawford. She was THE celebrity stylist before it was a thing.  And not to be discouraged by naysayers, Lange sold her line in trunk shows through independent associates like the one I purchased my Liz Lange wear from back then. There was indeed a market for quality high end maternity clothes and Lange tapped into it when no one else was doing it, beginning in 1997 when she launched the line out of her home office.

Lange, who is also a mom of two, has never believed pregnant women should be constricted by archaic ideas of what moms-to-be should and shouldn’t wear while pregnant. Everyone’s got an opinion and not all are correct. Since then, Liz Lange New York grew from an appointment only showroom to a flagship store on Madison Avenue, a partnership with Nike and eventually becoming the first Maternity line to show at New York Fashion week.

“As the pioneer of ‘maternity chic”, I’ve spent almost 20 years in the maternity clothing business, forging licensing deals with Nike and Target, with a maternity line available exclusively at Target stores and Target.com,” the busy entrepreneur and mom  says. “In that time, I’ve heard countless rules and style mantras regarding what pregnant women can and can’t do when it comes to style- and I’ve broken them all! My maternity line at Target focuses wearability and confidence with clothes that are comfortable, affordable, and always chic.”

The fashion maven, who is also a cervical cancer survivor, breaks down some myths and offers 5 ways to maternity myth Style Don’ts that are really Style Do’s for us:

1. DO: Stripes- We’ve all heard the rule, “horizontal stripes make you look wider.” Not so! For a mom-to-be sporting a baby bump, horizontal stripes can accentuate your shape. Also diagonal stripes can create a dramatic effect.

liz lange maternity striped tee bellyitchblog.com

Try this striped dress from the Liz Lange for Target collection, which can be dressed up or down for endless style. The stretch material will grow with your growing belly, and the ruched sides keep it flattering through all stages of pregnancy.

2. DO: Bold Prints- Every woman needs some pieces in her wardrobe that demand attention and inspire confidence. I always make sure to feature a few patterns that pop when designing my own maternity collection.

liz lange print bellyitchblog.com

Feel free to maintain your sense of style by accentuating your bump with all of your favorite patterns and colors.

3. DO: Shop Regular Sizes- A new expecting mother might think any shopping she does for her maternity clothing has an expiration date, but there are lots of great transitional pieces that are perfect for pregnancy and will still fit flawlessly into a post-baby wardrobe.

liz lange maternity

Instead of a maternity sweater, why not try this Liz Lange for Target item. The loose structure and flowy shape will look great as Maternity or New Mom Chic!

4. DO: Heels- Of course towering 6” heels are difficult even for the most experienced (and not pregnant) heel wearers, but that doesn’t mean they need to be written off completely.

liz lange maternity dos bellyitchblog.com

Consider a shoe with a wider or kitten heel for a little bit of height that won’t put too much pressure on your back. The more delicate the heel, the more lengthened your legs will look!

5. DO: Go Sleeveless– Just because you’re pregnant doesn’t mean you need to stay completely covered. There are lots of super flattering sleeveless looks that highlight your figure.

liz lange sleeveless

Remember- the bigger your bump, the smaller your arms look!

Good luck preginistas! Shake up the expected and knock em dead breaking the rules.

Things to Consider Before Agreeing to be a Bridesmaid While Pregnant

bellyitchblog.com bridesmaid
If you’re planning on both a pregnancy and being a bridesmaid in the near future, here are some of the bumps (pun totally intended) in the road to consider before officially saying yes.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that every bride-to-be shall be in want of a good bridesmaid…or three. And chances are that when a friend comes to you basking in that newly engaged glow and asks  you to be one those bridesmaids, you’ll jump at the chance to support her on her big day: The dancing! The shoes! The dresses! The CAKE!.Before you can say “yellow organza chiffon,” you’ve committed to being a bridesmaid and all that the honor entails. But what if you are

expecting to have a big (and getting bigger) event of your own sometime in the next nine months?

 1.The Cost
While the costs associated with being a bridesmaid can vary from wedding to wedding, one thing is certain: a baby on the way means unexpected expenses will be particularly unwelcome. After all, your priorities are changing, and whether it’s saving for diapers or a college fund, you want to make sure being a bridesmaid won’t mean being expected to pony up for expenses you soon won’t be able to afford. Accordingly, it’s important to clarify just what kinds of expenses will be expected of you ahead of time. A few to inquire after:
1. Will you be responsible for your dress, or will the bride pick up the tab? The same goes for those dyed shoes and your fabulous wedding day up-do and manicure.

2. If travel is involved, how costly will that be? Airfare, cab fare, hotel and eating out should all be considered.

3. How much (if any) will you be expected to contribute to a shower or bachelorette activities?
 2. The Dress
Since bridesmaids dresses are known for being so lovely and flattering, finding a dress that will work while you are pregnant should be no problem at all! Um, yeah…Back on planet earth, bridesmaids dresses can be itchy, lumpy, scratchy, and pinchy (yes, you know pinchy is a word). But this is not to say that you cannot totally rock the pregnant bridesmaid look as long as you keep a few things in mind.
1. Comfort and Fit: Ultimately, you want a dress that flatters your figure and that you’ll feel great wearing. Look for a flowing empire-waisted gown, or a dress that can be ‘enhanced’ with an extra panel to accommodate that lovely baby bump of yours!
2. Alterations: Make sure you’ve got a good tailor who will be able to make last minute alterations a little bit in advance of the wedding date. As you know, all of those measurements are going to change. And then change some more.
3. Support: Speaking of those changing measurements, the right maternity bra can do wonders for a girl’s mood at a wedding, not to mention her back! Once you reach your third trimester, you will likely need to trade in those lacy bras and reach for something more substantial. Just don’t forget to make sure that your maternity bra works with your dress as the date nears.

 3. Your Due Date
Let’s put this right out there: Going into labor at your friend’s wedding is not ideal. If your due date falls very close to the wedding date (or even within a month), you should feel free to humbly decline being in the wedding. Consulting with your doctor is also a good idea, as he or she will have likely dealt with this issue in the past and can make an individualized recommendation.

However, if your due date is farther afield from the wedding date, then the most important factor to consider is likely to be travel. While most airlines will allow pregnant women to travel through their eighth month, you need to consider what your own personal comfort level will be.

Tips for safe air travel while pregnant include walking the aisles on your flight to prevent blood clots, drinking lots of water, and wearing your seatbelt under your belly rather than across it. Travelling during pregnancy can be challenging, but if you and your doctor think you are up for it, then you’re a go.

Just one thing though: You know those teeny tiny airplane bathrooms? Need we say more?

4. The Time Commitment She’s the friend who consoled you that time you broke up with that jerk during freshman year…and then consoled you again when you broke up with that other jerk that next year. She’s been with you through thick and thin and late night pizza runs. So of course you want to be the absolute best bridesmaid possible. But take a moment to consider what that might mean: stuffing invitations, licking stamps, shopping for wedding favors, liking her Facebook posts, and talking. Lots and lots of talking. You owe it to yourself and to your friend to think realistically about what you can handle during your pregnancy. No friend wants you to overtax yourself while you should be focusing on your health and the health of your baby. Let her know your concerns and ask in the gentlest way possible what will be expected of you so that you can both make an educated decision.

5. The Friendship Style
Before you say yes, think about the type of friendship/relationship that you have with the bride. Is it filled with drama or is it mostly peaceful? Communication will be key to making this situation work. She needs to understand that there will be times during this pregnancy that you will be tired, anxious, or painting adorable ducks on a nursery wall, and therefore will be unable to check out her Pinterest board right this moment. And you will have to understand that this is one of the most exciting times in her life, and that she will need your support throughout, even if your feet are swollen and throbbing, and the ducks need

painting. If you two have that covered, the rest of the stuff will be a breeze.
Final Thoughts
Being asked to be a bridesmaid is an honor, for sure, and it’s no wonder you might be tempted to fill such a position for a friend you care about so dearly. But true friendship means knowing your limitations — something your friend should likewise honor and respect. And don’t worry: if you can’t participate as a bridesmaid, there are plenty of other ways to show your friend you care throughout this process. So, consider your next steps carefully and you’re sure to make the decision that will best balance your friendship and your own needs. And by the way, congratulations!
Alyssa Ennis
