Could this be the other reason supermodel Tyra Banks walked away from her TV talk panel show FABLife?

Congrats to model, producer & TV host Tyra Banks who welcomed her first child, a son, York Banks Asla, via gestational surrogate.

“We are so excited for our new baby boy bundle of joy,” The America’s Next Top Model franchise creator told PEOPLE.  “The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I’ve shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father.

Norwegian photographer Erik Asla is the father.

“As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day,” the beauty entrepreneur said in the statement. “My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms.”

Banks announced the news to her fans and followers on Instagram.



“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” she captioned a photo of a newborn hospital hat. “He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin.”

The recent host of FABLife struggled to conceive and announced this fact during a segment on her show last year. Currently preggers Chrissy Teigen also opened about her and hubby John Legend‘s challenges with infertility.

So it comes as no surprise she again thought of those struggling with infertility in the caption.

“As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world,” she added.

Banks previously opened up about her infertility struggles, revealing that she had undergone IVF procedures in hopes of conceiving.

“When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids,” Banks told PEOPLE last September 2015 after opening up about having undergone IVF treatments. “When you’re like, ‘Okay, I’m just going to do it,’ then it’s not so easy as you get older.”

We are so happy for her! Yay!!!

The Celeb ‘Bump Watch’ Term We’d Like to Gossip Blogs Leave in 2015

Is it time yet to nominate phrases and terms we will like to see left in 2015 and not carted over to 2016??

If so, I’d like to nominate the phrase “shows off her bump” to describe the sighting of a celebrity pregnant woman out and about the street doing regular stuff.

I’m certain we might have used the term in Bellyitch before so I’m not throwing stones from inside a glass house. No ma’am. No sir.

I just was going through our Google Alerts the other day and noticed how many of my fellow gossip blogs and websites abuse the overused term to describe something that really isn’t there.

When I think of someone “showing off” something, I think of a person boasting or proudly presenting something for others to see, almost in an “in your face” sort of way. I don’t think of the person who is just casually walking down the street and is caught by paparazzi.

Now, if the mom-to-be has starred in a maternity photo shoot and purposefully exposes her pregnant belly or growing bump for the cameras, then perhaps, I can see that descriptor being appropriate.

Mommas-to-be and Their Dudes: The Legends and Wests Go on A Double Date

Moms-to-be Kim Kardashian-West  and FabLife‘s Chrissy Teigen  went on a double date with their respective spouses Kanye West and John Legend a couple weekends ago. The two couples dined at Giorgio Baldi, US Weekly reports. restaurant in Santa Monica on November 21

The Wests are expecting their second child together, a son. They are parents to 2-year old North West.

Teigen and Legend are expecting their first. They announced the pregnancy shortly after the model shared challenges to get pregnant during their two year marriage.

EcoFriday: DIY Tips with Mom-to-Be ‘FABLife’s Leah Ashley (VIDEOS)

So here’s what happened.

A little while ago, I got the heads up from the folks on the new lifestyle talk show FABLife  about an episode where the daily show’s DIY enthusiast and Lifestyle specialist Leah Ashley did an awesome upcycle job turning a pair of baby cribs into children’s desks.

Ashley co-hosts  the show along with show creator Tyra Banks and our Bellyitch Bumpwatch mom-to-be Chrissy Teigen, design stylist Lauren Makk and Fashion expert Joe Zee.

On the show, Ashley helped a mom to quadruplets go through the kids’ grandmom’s garage and pull out their old cribs and eventually convert them into two awesome kids’ desk workstations! Amazing. You can see the clip here!

Perfect for our occasional Eco-Friday segments on the blog.

On the episode with the cribs transformation, I noticed that Ashley was also preggers and naturally, being obsessed with pregnant women, I started to do some online research and landed on her Living with Leah Facebook page and soon learned that the YouTube Star turned regular DIY featured guest for several TV shows is expecting her first child, a son, Finn with her husband of about a year.

She had a baby shower on the show recently and then had one with an audience full of other expecting women.

And I also discovered that Ashley has been rocking her stylish looks on her channel and on air during the daily talk show.

2015 Billboard Music Awards Recap – Bellyitch style!

Tonight was the 2015 Billboard Music Awards which took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It was a star-studded event. As usual, the celeb women we’ve featured on Bellyitch in the past rocked the red carpet: Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez in Charbel Zoe, Taraji P. Henson, Britney Spears, Idina Menzel and Danica McKellar all looked stunning.
As did model Lily Aldridge who is married to Kings of Leon band member Caleb Followill.
Britney Spears made a triumphant return to the Billboards stage performing her hit song with Iggy Azalea, “Pretty Girls”. WATCH



Maria Carey took us back in time with a glorious performance of her classic song “Vision of Love” and finished up with her latest single, “Infinity.”


Kelly Clarkson gave a memorable performance of her hit song “Invincible” and looked amazing doing it in her new rocker girl hair.
And finally, the fashion trend for tonight was creme and black and plunging necklines as seen on Henson, Taylor Swift (who looked amazing and very sexy), co-host for the night Chrissy Teigen and Rita Ora.

Will Tamera Mowry-Housley’s second pregnancy announcement change how you see sponsored content by celebrities in social media?

Congratulations to one half of our favorite sets of celebrity twins, Tamera Mowry-Housley, who announced yesterday on her Instagram and Facebook accounts that she is expecting her second child with husband FOX News correspondent Adam Housley.


The couple are parents to 2-year old Aden. The new arrival, when born, will have mom’s twin, actress Tia Mowry Hardrict, for an aunty and her son with actor Cory Hardrict,  3-year old Cree Taylor for a cousin. 


Mowry-Housley had been a spokesperson for the pregnancy testing brand Clear Blue  since 2013 . She also mentioned the company in the share:
“We are thrilled to announce we are #ClearblueConfirmed! Can’t wait to meet baby #2! Love Clearblue’s pregnancy test with Smart Countdown. It helped me get through the wait to get my result by counting down with me. #spon,”

She likely is beyond 3 months and took the test a while ago and is only dong the announcement now for the promo opp. 

I was noticing some of the negative reaction in social media and in comments section to the announcement over the fact that she included the words “#spon” in the post and used the moment to also promote the brand.

I wrote a couple years ago in March 2013 on my poli-tech blog about how the United States Federal Trade Commission had updated its regulations back then to require celebrities, bloggers and other social media personalities to indicate clearly and explicitly when they are getting paid in product or money to promote a product. 
The purpose, of course, is the interest of transparency and full disclosure so audiences are aware they are being influenced by someone paid to advance a brand. 
As a blogger, I have railed for years against the fact that I see so many celebrities promote products daily that they are getting paid to social share but who fail to abide by the rules. Yet, there seemed to be a focus on bloggers, vloggers and other rising social media influencers to be compliant. Meanwhile, celebrities were violating the rules routinely and there seemed to be no interest in cracking down on them.
Technically, the brands are responsible more making sure celebs themselves do not break the guidelines and they, along with the celebrity, are responsible for any fines or repercussions of the violation.
As BabyCenter.com pointed out, Mowry-Housley was using her clutch to hide her bump at an industry event last month.

Now,  given some of the negative reaction to Mowry-Housley’s announcement, with some people calling the share “tacky”, it’s easy to see why many choose to just omit the fact they were paid to promote a product or service. 
Consumers, apparently,  don’t take too well to paid promotions at all and will be less likely to trust the word of the person promoting the product if they feel there was compensation for it. They don’t find it as genuine. Perhaps it’s the same reason why people get up to use the bathroom during commercials but cannot avoid brands strategically placed on TV shows. Overt v. Subconscious. 
It also probably has to do with the fact that people gravitate to blogs, online communities and social media to get the “real” experience and find dialogue. They probably find the exchanges there more trustworthy and honest than from scripted prose. It’s the same reason why people prefer reality TV or non-fiction television shows over scripted ones perhaps. 
In any event, all of the ruckus will die down eventually and people will get over it.

Congrats to the family!

I am eager, however, to see if this announcement and the reaction to it will lead more celebrities and brands to continue to take the risk of an FTC fine by just not following the rules as they are already are. 
….Or will it open up more audiences’ eyes to realize that they see thousands of product placements in tweets and IG shares daily and have been obliviously taking it all in and fine with it all the time.
Note they only got bothered when it was in their faces. 
So it seems people don’t mind being “influenced” so long as they’re not told they are. So interesting. And with more news outlets picking up the announcement, ClearBlue is getting exposure beyond Mowry-Housley’s millions of followers.

Congratulations to Kristin Cavallari and her husband Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on the birth of their second child, son Jaxon Wyatt last Wednesday, May 7.

Phew! Ayesha Curry is Almost 8-Months Preggers , Launching a Wine Biz and Opening Up Another Restaurant

I often talk about how the expecting celeb women profiled on this blog stay very very active during their entire pregnancy!

Third-time mom-to-be Ayesha Curry is no different.

Fresh off the success of a best-selling cook book, a Food channel network show and a retail kitchenware line, Curry has announced on her Instagram that she and her family are launching a wine business called Domaine  Curry, and her restauranteur partnership with Chef Michael Mina are opening a new restaurant in their International Smoke chain in Houston.

She is also styling as she coasts into her last trimester in pregnancy and has time to cheer on her 5-year old daughter Riley who is a budding equestrian, and her husband Steph Curry who is 4-games deep into the Western conference NBA finals, and doing mommy and me fashion with her 2-year old daughter Ryan! Love it. Look:
