The Important Work Meghan Markle Was Doing While Pregnant {New Photos}

Source: Instagram/SussexRoyal

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was quite busy making history while pregnant with her first child, son Archie, with husband Prince Harry.

The American Royal, starting at 5-months pregnant, became the first ever “guest editor’ of British Vogue, for its coveted September issue, the most important edition in magazines’ yearly calendar.

Rather than be the cover model, the former Suits star chose to instead spotlight the work of 15 change maker women who are doing big things for other women in the world including Jane Goodall (who was interviewed by her husband) and former US First Lady Michelle Obama (interviewed by Meghan), Laverne Cox, Greta Thunberg, Jacinda Ardern, Adwoa Aboah and Jameela Jamil, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi and others shot by legendary photographer Peter Lindbergh.

She also started working on a line of women’s wear with designer Misha Nonoo that will benefit her patronage project called Smart Works, an organization that provides job training and clothing for underprivileged women.

The group gives client one-on-one interview prep and an interview outfit. Once they land the job, the women can come back and collect 5 additional pieces of clothing to get them thru their first paycheck!

Love Love it!!

“The reason why I was drawn to Smart Works is that it reframed the idea of charity as community…..it’s a network of women supporting and empowering other women in their professional pursuits,” Markle wrote in the magazine of her interest in that organization.

Yesterday, the Duchess released via the @SussexRoyal Instagram page a series of behind the scenes photo from her work with the organization, helping women select pieces of clothing for their job while herself donned a fierce tweed Gucci suit.

Spotlight on: Smart Works We are proud to be supporting a very special initiative this autumn for @SmartWorksCharity! After quiet visits to Smartworks over the last year, The Duchess was moved by the impactful work being done by this non profit organisation that helps women into the workforce, equipping them with both the skills and clothes they need to feel job-ready. Throughout her visits she noticed that while the donations were plentiful, they were also notably a combination of mismatched items and colours which weren’t always the right stylistic choices or sizes that didn’t necessarily “suit” the job at hand: to make a woman feel confident and inspired as she walked into her job interview. As a result, launching this autumn, The Duchess will be supporting a collective to help equip the women of Smart Works with the key workwear essentials they need as they enter into the workplace. This initiative is supported by four generous brands who share the vision to empower the women of Smart Works to look and feel ? as they bravely venture in to what can often be a daunting environment for those who have been out of the job market. The brands have come together to work towards this united force for good, “[reframing] the idea of charity as community,” as The Duchess writes in a piece for this month’s British Vogue. They will follow the 1:1 model where an item from the collection purchased is an item shared with a woman of Smart Works because “not only does this allow us to be part of each other’s story; it reminds us we are in it together.” For more information on how you can be part of another woman’s success story visit @smartworkscharity. Special thanks to: @JohnLewisandPartners, @MarksandSpencer, @MishaNonoo, @InsideJigsaw for supporting this very special organisation. And to find out more, read the September issue of @BritishVogue and stay tuned for more exciting updates this autumn. Photo©️SussexRoyal

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Are Keeping Their Baby’s Birth Private

With rumors already swirling that Duchess Meghan of Sussex will be having an at home birth, it makes sense that the former Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry have announced plans to have a private birth.

The baby is due in the next few weeks and Kensington Palace released a statement to the press stating:

“Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

So there will be no photo opp like with Kate Middleton and her babies hours after delivery.

There will be a photo opp later at Windsor Castle. Since Baby Sussex is so far down the line to be a future king, unlike Duchess Catherine and Prince Williams’ children, it’s not really a big deal to force the whole big show protocol.

Meghan Markle On Why She Doesn’t Do Social Media…Or any Media!

Last week was International Women’s Day and also an important week for the former Meghan Markle who was appointed by Queen Elizabeth, the Vice President of The Queen’s Commonwealth Trus t on Friday.

The organization supports young leaders promoting social change, bettering their communities and providing work opportunities and hope for others across the globe.

Prince Harry is the president.

As part of her new role, the Duchess of Sussex will spotlight the work of the Trust with young leaders across the Commonwealth, in particular, the work of those supporting women and girls.

Perfect for this Women’s History Month!

To celebrate the new appointment and International Women’s Day, the duchess also spoke on a panel of female thought-leaders and activists at King’s College London.

“If things are wrong and there is a lack of justice, and there is an inequality, then someone needs to say something” she stated on the panel while wearing the Azzura Swirl Printed Shift dress by Reiss ($345) under a black Alexander McQueen Leaf Crepe blazer ( $1995), black Manolo Blahnik suede ‘BB’ Pointy Toe Pumps ($625) while carrying a leather with gold accent Stella McCartney Shaggy Deer Faux Leather Crossbody Bag and diamond pearl drop earrings by Caroline Parr with her hair in a messy bun.

Among several things she revealed during that panel is that she has canceled social media, explaining that she doesn’t engage with social media much as a personal choice, in an effort to avoid “getting muddled” by the “noise,” the UK’s Press Association (PA) news agency reports.

The response came after the former Suits TV star was asked how she felt about headlines that called her feminism “trendy.”

She replied: “I don’t read anything, it’s much safer that way, but equally that’s just my own personal preference, because I think positive or negative, it can all sort of just feel like noise to a certain extent these days, as opposed to getting muddled with that to focus on the real cause.”

She cotinued: “So for me, “I think the idea of making the word ‘feminism’ trendy, that doesn’t make any sense to me personally, right? This is something that is going to be part of the conversation forever.”

When asked later if she looked at Twitter, she replied: “No, sorry, no. For me that’s my personal preference.”

Good for her!

Fashion Influencers Prove Again Maternity Fashion Is Cuter Than Ever

I was motivated by a recent quasi-viral tweet about Meghan Markle where the “tweeter”, while commenting on Markle’s amazing fashion sense, pointed out that she refuses to wear maternity clothes.

It was a compliment on the Duchess of Sussex ability to stay fashion forward “despite the fact” that she is pregnant and should be wearing maternity clothes.

As those of you who follow this blog know, for over a decade, I have showcased hot maternity designers who have been coming out with chic, stylish and very adorable and cayooot dresses, outfits, clothing for women who are expecting.

The idea that maternity clothes should be relegated to muu muus and overalls is outdated.

And even then, maternity brands and chic preganista are finding a way to even make those two items trendy!

So in response to the tweet, I told the person who sent out the message that she inspired me to do this post highlighting the way influencers and maternity brands have proven, once again that maternity fashion is very fashionable and nothing that any mom-to-be should be afraid of or avoid!

All the Meghan Markle Pregnancy Conspiracy Theories: Twins, Fake Bump, Deliberate Bump Flexing

From rumors of her being pregnant with twin girls to psycho trolls convinced she is faking her pregnancy, Meghan Markle is the latest royal and celebrity mom-to-be plagued with silly rumors.

I thought I had heard and read it all until I bumped into a few blogs and reputable news sites’ entertainment pages (I won’t call them out by name) claiming that Duchess of Sussex makes specific and deliberate hand gestures and clothing placements to make sure her bump is center stage.

*deep long sigh*

I don’t know if these people have ever been pregnant or not but when a woman, any woman, is 6 to 8 months along in a pregnancy, she really doesn’t have to go out of her way to make sure she looks it!

One “body language expert” quoted said, the former Suits actress is purposefully wearing bump hugging clothing and intentionally opting for coats so the baby bump would peek through. Another said she “flicks” them open for this purpose.

Wow! That sounds so ludicrous to me.

I don’t know, she could wear what’s out there, most of which are bump hugging, or wear a muu muu.

I do know of some who carry small all pregnancy and who crave that popped look, but that is a fraction of women like Amal Clooney.

Also, as to the conspicuous hand placement on her belly, it is a very common and subconscious maternal practice of expecting woman to place her hands on her pregnant belly when pregnant. It’s not being done to cause attention by any means, I don’t believe.

Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child later this month.

You Can Still Buy the H&M Dress Meghan Markle Broke The Internet With This Week

Speaking of Meghan Markle, she wore a $34 dress under a Armani coat to a charity yesterday and the Internet went wild over the Duchess’ choice to wear an affordable item out.

It’s a boon to H&M and while the cream version of its MAMA knit dress dress is sold out the charcoal gray version is still available for $34.99 for now…

This is not the first time the Duchess of Sussex opted for a lower price item that broke the Internet. During a trip to New Zealand last year, she stepped out in in a $56 ASOS maternity dress which a lot of us commoners loved! (It’s still available in Mustard btw)

GET THE DRESS!

No, Expecting Meghan Markle Did Not Revive Her Instagram Page

Meghan Markle did not revive her Instagram account from her days as a blogger and star of Suits as believed when the page went live this week.

It was probably a glitch, Royal reporter Omid Scobie hypothesizes.

Although it would be not against Royal protocol to keep up a social media page, the Duchess of Sussex decided to focus on her new life as a Brit Royal after marrying Prince Harry.

Her former followers on that account and fans of the ex actress were excited.

For now, they will have to rely on the news about her released by Kensington Palace like these recent photos of her visiting The Royal Variety Charity’s residential nursing and care home, the Brinsworth House.

Meghan Markle’s Baby Bump has Popped Majorly! See the Photo!

Meghan Markle has apparently “popped”. During an appearance at “A Christmas Carol” service in London, the Duchess of Sussex wore a dress that revealed a sizeable bump.

See the photo over at US Weekly!

Some websites hypothesized that her bump makes it seem like she is further along than reported.

We veteran parents know that for each pregnancy is different and it is possible that she really just is showing larger.

Markle is expecting her first child with her husband Prince Harry in Spring 2019.

While I am happy that she is best known for being an actress, model and outspoken advocate and philanthropist, I thought it was cute that US Weekly referred to the Duchess as a former lifestyle blogger!

Like wwwwwweeeee! That makes me like a Princess. (ha!)

The One Baby Naming Rule Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Must Follow

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s baby has barely been incubated for a full trimester when bookies all over the world started accepting wagers on which name will be picked.

Unlike those who have children closer in line of succession to the British Throne like Duchesess Catherine and Prince William,  the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have more flexibility  to go with a less traditional name.

For example,  Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, called their kids Beatrice and Eugenie, more unique selections of names.

“The further down the line of succession, the more likely you are to have a more unique or nontraditional name,” Carolyn Harris, author of Raising Royalty: 1,000 Years of Royal Parenting, told Vogue Australia. “We see, from the diversity of names among the Queen’s descendants, that the Queen does seem willing to allow the descendants to choose their own names.”

The only real reaquirement is that they share the name with Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family first so they can check if the name is suitable.

Despite the ease on pressure, it looks like bookies are placing bets on traditional names like Victoria, Arthur, Albert and Diana which are hot favorites, as are the names of Harry’s grandparents, Elizabeth and Philip, according to News Australia.

It seems likely that Meghan and Harry will stick to the usual suspects as well. What do you think? Let’s talk about it online!

Say What? Meghan Markle Is Really This Far Along in Pregnancy?

Say what? Duchess Meghan is actually further along in her pregnancy than reported? That’s what one Australian news outlet and a few others are speculating.

It all stems from an afternoon reception on Tuesday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended at Admiralty House. The former Miss Markle was photographed doting over British singer Missy Higgins‘ 9-week old baby Luna. Afterwards, Higgins posted the photo with a caption suggesting the Duchess is 20 weeks along, not 12 weeks as reported this week.

“What an honour to meet the beautiful Duchess today! She was such a sweetheart,” Higgins captioned the meeting. “I said I felt sorry for her having to do all these meet-and-greets while 4 months pregnant! What a trooper. Prince Harry was gorgeous too, a real charmer. He squeezed Luna’s legs and said “who’s this little cutie?” Looking forward to telling Luna she slept through it all one day.”

The newlyweds are on their first Diplomatic and Royal tour together this week in Australia.
