Yet Another Australian Model Claps Back Over Super Tiny 7 Months ‘Bump’

This is the 4th time a pregnant model from Australia with a super small baby bump was shamed online for barely looking pregnant.

Here is the latest:

Australian influencer Belle Lucia, 24,  recently told her 1.4 million Instagram followers that she has only gained 10kg despite being in her third trimester.

Posing in a navy blue bikini, Belle captioned the post: “Loving my pregnancy body, weight gain isn’t a negative thing! Don’t ever feel ashamed.”

Giving an update on her little one, the mum-to-be added: “Baby is roughly the size of a papaya and 36cms long.”

Although the majority of fans were quick to comment on how slim the pregnant model looks, others were preoccupied with the size of her baby bump.

One replied: “I’m literally so intrigued with your pregnancy, it’s amazing how little your tummy is! I can’t believe how different everyone’s bodies can be.”

Women in Hollywood Are Getting Baby Foreskin Facials Now

First it was “vampire” facials and now affluent women and celebrities like Kate Beckinsale, Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett are going to spas to have the foreskin of circumcised babies applied to their skin for cosmetic reasons.

How it works is: Dermal fibroblasts–skin cells that are responsible for generating connective tissue–are taken from the circumcised foreskin of infant penises and then used as a culture for growing new stem cells.

Those new cells are then used to make a serum that is applied to the face as part of a specialized facial.

The procedure costs $650 and is offered at the Georgia Louise Atelier in New York City, and has become a go-to among celebrities.

In a recently deleted Instagram post, actress Kate Beckinsale reportedly admitted she got one of the penis facials.

“After a long flight I do like to lie down and be covered in a mask of liquified cloned foreskins-frankly who doesn’t?” People magazine reports the captioned an Instagram photo “Thank you @georgialouisesk for an amazing facial. I especially liked you reassuring me it would be ‘light on penis’ as it was my first time x.”

Yikes! The reply and backlash was swift and probably is the reason Beckinsale removed the post.  You can read Cafe Mom’s round up of some negative social media commentary HERE!

Earlier this year, Bravo TV scripted television star Jill Kargman tried out the procedure and penned her experience for Hollywood Reporter and even starred in a smiley photo after the treatment. Eeek!

This Australian News Mag Article About Motherhood Ruining Miranda Kerr’s Figure Got Me Heated

Opinion; by Jay Jay Ghatt

I was online and an article from an Australian news mag, news.com.au,  scrolled through my feed with an article discussing Australian super model Miranda Kerr, and specifically her comments in a recent Marie Claire article that are supposed to be about body positivity.

Kerr gave birth to her second son, Hart, six months ago, with husband, Snapchat founder, Evan Spiegel.

However, to me, the news.com.au article and especially its headline and Kerr’s statements in her Marie Claire interview do nothing to affirm the confidence of women who are mothers. Absolutely nothing in my opinion!

I am not sure the intent but they both missed the mark.

Let’s go through it, shall we?

At first blush, the headline reads that Kerr is “Ok that motherhood ruined her figure.” Oh really?

First of all, motherhood did not ruin her figure.  That is a very off-the-mark suggestion.

I am pretty sure motherhood enhanced her life and I’m also certain it gave her new curves. In  many cultures and countries around the world, curves are very much appreciated by many women and men worldwide.  Some women I know personally work hard to acquire curves.  Also, look at the Kim Kardashian phenomenon, for example. Note all these Instagram models that are getting butt enhancements, injections and wearing padded pants or photoshopping curves into there photos!

In that sense, then, motherhood made her figure better! It did not “ruin” her body, at all, necessarily!

Second, the headline casts a negative light on pregnancy and relays why a lot of women experience pregorexia and deprive themselves and their babies of much needed nutrients while pregnant over fear of gaining weight. This headline feeds into that very harmful notion of pregnancy being something that will mess up one’s body and figure.

I cannot stand it!

Inside the Marie Claire piece, the former Victoria’s Secret Angel who has a 7-year old son named Flynn with ex Orlando Bloom says “It’s OK, I’ve got a mum-bod and it’s fine!”

There is a very negative connotation behind the term “mum-bod” in that quote. This sentence relays that she is content with having a body associated with mothers. Ugh.

Society continue to tell women who are mothers that there bodies are unacceptable, not attractive and should be something we work hard on changing, altering, or improving.

The News.Au site feeds into this horrible notion when it states of Kerr, “even when she was heavily pregnant, Kerr showed off her curves for photographers.”

“Even when? “ “Even When?”

Hear me now: Women with or without having a baby bump have curves and take photos and have photos taken of them. Having curves is not a reason to not be worthy of being photographed!

I really hate this article! It’s so mean!

Then Kerr doesn’t add much to the convo by being quoted saying in that Marie Claire article, “I don’t mind. It’s all part of it. I took nine months – well, 10 months – to grow a beautiful child and it might take 10 months to feel good in a swimsuit again.”

You shouldn’t need a size 0 figure or body to feel good in a swim suit. It’s not a body positive article at all.

That’s all I have to say about this topic but there is no wonder women are not supported in so many aspects of their lives, before, during and after they join motherhood.

Media and major influential figure internalize and spout out so much toxic positions.

Ok. Off my high horse for the day! Have a great week all!

Let’s continue the conversation. I can be found everywhere in social media  @Bellyitch on Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and Facebook!

When I wake up in the mornin’ love

And the sunlight hurts my eyes

Wade shared an identical photo and share on his Twitter and Instagram accounts as well. Queens Are Born in September {My Birthday Wish List}

More people are born in September than any other month. One of those people is ME!

Today is my birthday! I put together my wish list and am publishing it here for anyone who wants to gift me something for this big day! (wink)

I’ve seen this very fun dark grey message shirt on Instagram, “Queens are Born in September” and it’s perfect. I found it on Etsy! This “Queens are Born in September” tee is 100% preshrunk cotton and I love that it comes in a v-neck because that makes it even more feminine. ($20)

I, like a lot of people, am naturally attracted to the neckline so I have always wanted to have a signature necklace I could wear everyday. A birthstone necklace is in order.

If I could get the world, I’d love this 14K White Gold Diamond and Oval Sapphire Trio Accent pendant ($425) but I’d totally settle for this much cheaper  cute Birthstone Necklace by LA Mini Jewelry Ultimate Karma Eternity Necklace ($43.20)

To match, I am digging AroshaTaglia‘s sterling silver CORAL Blue Saphhire ring ($215).

For the earth girl in me, Luxezen’s Raw blue sapphire gemstone stud earrings  ($58.75) are gorgeous and a marvelous fit! These earrings are made of unique raw stone nuggets hand paired for size, cut and color and set in gold filled, rose gold filled, or sterling silver ear posts.

Because I am a big fan of message tees, I am crushing on Bougie Girl Shop‘s I Am A September Woman shirt which also reads, “I Am Stronger Than You Believe, Braver Than You Know, Smarter Than You Think”($20) which is a very timely and relevant message for me right now in my life.

I need a nice bag to schlep all my stuff in and only Burberry‘s Nova Check  Canvas Tote ($297) will do! It is spacious and a signature piece!

I’m older and blinder today and need to upgrade my eyeglasses with my new prescriptions. A pair of Gucci 51MM Optical Glasses ($119) will do just fine!

Because I plan to start recording a series of video snippets, I need make up because an on-call Make Up Artist is not in the budget right now. I’ll take MAC Complete make up kit ($55)to hold me over until the big bucks come flowing in.

Finally, my last laptop died. I know Apple Mac Books are best but I’m still a Microsoft girl so Inspiron 14 3000 laptop will be a great replacement($229)

Social Media Helps Celebs Keep It Real About Pregnancy and Early Motherhood

The Independent explores the shift in celebrity pregnancy coverage being more authentic and real about the trials of pregnancy, labor, delivery and early motherhood and credits social media for it

EXCERPT:

Years ago, a pregnant starlet might drop out of the spotlight for a while – only to reemerge in a magazine looking well-rested and snuggling with an angelic infant.

See various People magazine covers: Jennifer Lopez in 2008, resplendent in a floor-length gown with an infant nestled in each arm, above the headline “TWIN BLISS!”; Angelina Jolie in 2006, gazing adoringly at Brad Pitt, as baby Shiloh snoozes away; Julia Roberts, looking dewy and fresh-faced in 2005 as she cradles her twins.

Now fans are starting to see a different side of postpartum celebrities: Model Chrissy Teigen shares an Instagram story that features her stretch marks and confesses that she’s “super insecure” about her body; actress Olivia Wilde posts an Instagram photo of her messy bun with the caption, “I call this hairstyle, ‘keep the kid alive’ “; tennis legend Serena Williams tweets about balancing work and her daughter: “She took her first steps . . . I was training and missed it. I cried.”

The common denominator in all those examples, naturally, is social media. The advent of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat made stars realize that they could connect with the public on a deeper level about personal subjects – and that fans appreciated honesty about the less-than-glamorous aspects of their #blessed lives.

“Social media has been such a game changer. . . . Celebrities are speaking directly to the fan base. Once they started doing that, things just got a lot more real,” said Kate Coyne, executive editor of People magazine. “One evolution of that concept has been celebrities sharing the realities of pregnancy, infertility, child-rearing, infancy, toddlerhood. It goes hand in hand with what social media is all about.”

Lately, celebrities have also been spilling details about serious medical issues surrounding childbirth. In January, Williams told Vogue that she had a potentially fatal complication during labor, including blood clots in her lungs.

Serena Williams Opens Up About Dealing With Postpartum Blues

In the same week that one of her good friends Beyonce opened up about having preeclampsia before delivering her twins Sir and Rumi, 23-times Grand Slam Tennis champ Serena Williams revealed that she was in the middle of dealing with postpartum blues when she pulled out of the  Rogers Cup tournament citing “personal reasons.”

In an emotional Instagram post, she wrote: “Not only was I accepting some tough personal stuff, but I just was in a funk. Mostly, I felt like I was not a good mom,” adding, “it’s totally normal to feel like I’m not doing enough for my baby…We have all been there. I work a lot, I train, and I’m trying to be the best athlete I can be. However, that means although I have been with her every day of her life, I’m not around as much as I would like to be.”

Williams, who recently gave birth to her daughter Alexis Olympia with husband Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, also offered  gave up some encouraging words to other moms out there dealing with similar issues:

“Most of you moms deal with the same thing. Whether stay-at-home or working, finding that balance with kids is a true art. You are the true heroes.” Read the post and check out a TODAY video on the story below:

Last week was not easy for me. Not only was I accepting some tough personal stuff, but I just was in a funk. Mostly, I felt like I was not a good mom. I read several articles that said postpartum emotions can last up to 3 years if not dealt with. I like communication best. Talking things through with my mom, my sisters, my friends let me know that my feelings are totally normal. It’s totally normal to feel like I’m not doing enough for my baby. We have all been there. I work a lot, I train, and I’m trying to be the best athlete I can be. However, that means although I have been with her every day of her life, I’m not around as much as I would like to be. Most of you moms deal with the same thing. Whether stay-at-home or working, finding that balance with kids is a true art. You are the true heroes. I’m here to say: if you are having a rough day or week–it’s ok–I am, too!!! There’s always tomm!
