Carrie Underwood Joins Roster of Celeb Baby Bumps Featured in Their Music Videos

Carrie Underwood has joined the small legions of celebrity singers who released music videos while visibly pregnant.

In the video for her new song, “Love Wins“, underbelly shots of the country music phenom reveals her baby bump in an empire waist rose gown. In the emotional son, Underwood addresses a lot of hot-button political topics such as gun violence, politics, our very heavily divided world while offering the solution to it all: Love!

“Love is power, love is a smile[,]

Love reaches out, love is the remedy[,]

Love is the answer, love’s an open door[,]

Love is the only thing worth fighting for[.]”

Underwood,  announced last month she was expecting her second child with husband Mike Fisher.

Earlier this year, Cardi B dropped several videos off of her debut album “Invasion of Privacy” and her baby bump too was very much present.

A long time ago, women were hidden away when pregnant and certainly, they weren’t flaunted in the media or music videos. In modern times, beautiful pregnant women are featured prominently as with a very 9-month pregnant Natalie Portman, days before giving birth in the music video for James Blake’s  song “My Willing Heart,” released on Monday.

But she isn’t the first one. Beyonce, P!nk, Deborah Cox, and Whitney Houston have also appeared very pregnant in music videos for their songs

In 2011, Beyonce was pregnant with her daughter Blue Ivy in her Countdown Video. That year, P!nk was also visibly pregnant with her daughter Willow in her girls empowerment song “F*&>Perfect”.

Before then, Canadian -born artist Deborah Cox showed off her 3rd trimester belly in the later frames of her “Beautiful U R” video” which is also about female empowerment and self esteem.  Finally, Whitney Houston, was also uplifting women in her remake of Chaka Khan‘s “I’m Every Woman” and was pregnant with her daughter Bobbi Kristina. (RIP to both of them).

New Mom Cardi B Drops Out of Bruno Mars 24K Tour

We always pause when celebrity new moms like Amal Clooney, Ivanka Trump. former Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer when they announce plans to get back to work weeks after delivering, not fully aware of how much of a challenge that could be.

Cardi B is the latest new mama to fall victim to this phenomenon.

She had previously stated that despite being set to give birth in July, she still planned to remain on Bruno Mars‘ “24K Magic” and to take her newborn with her.

As we could expect, the Bodak Yellow performer announced that she will no longer be joining  Bruno’s tour.

“As of today I’ve decided I won’t be joining Bruno on tour this Fall,” the rapper wrote in a statement posted on Instagram Thursday night. “I thought that after giving birth to my daughter that 6 weeks would be enough time for me to recover mentally and physically. I also thought that I’d be able to bring her with me on tour, but I think I underestimated this whole mommy thing.”

The Invasion of Privacy album creator only delivered her baby girl Kulture three weeks ago and explained to her fans and followers  that she’s not ready to hit the road. Per her pediatrician’s advice, neither is her daughter.

“Not only am I just not ready physically, I’m not ready to leave my baby behind since the doctors explained it’s not healthy for her to be on the road,” she wrote.

The “I Like It” songstress has not hired a nanny and  is not interested in being apart from her baby during her most formative first months.

“I hope you guys understand that this decision has been the hardest to make but I have to do what’s best for myself and my baby!” she finished off her post. “Thank you Bruno for being so supportive and understanding.”

Cardi shares her daughter with husband Offset, who is a member of the trio rap group, The Migos rapper, along with Quavo and Takeoff. He’ll be making the bread and perhaps missing baby’s first moments as he is sticking with plans to join Drake this summer on his North American tour, “Aubrey and the Three Amigos,” which was rescheduled to address production issues.

Inside Cardi B’s and Offset’s ‘Bronx Fairytale’ Baby Shower

Fresh off confirmation that they secretly wed, rappers Cardi B and her new husband Offset, celebrated the upcoming birth of their first child together at a lavish “Bronx Fairytale” themed wedding in Atlanta, Georgia this week.

The event, named for the New York city burrough where Cardi is from, featured a 16-foot topiary floral wall, room entrance ways that resembled a 6-car subway train, and several rooms draped in 26,000 pink and white flowers, created by C. Waymen Florals & Events.  One area of one room featured a mock “Bardi Baby Bodega” stocked with personalized diapers, bottles, and more.

Guests chilled out in an elegant lounge area and noshed on custom-made piraguas, sliced fruit, and soul food, while sipping on pink coquito cocktails and Hennessy shots, as Vogue style writer put it, a nod to Cardi B’s sister, Hennessy Carolina.

I loved best the “Bardi Baby Book Library,” stocked with Latina and African-American children’s books like “Buenas Noches”, “Luna”, and “Viva, Frida”.

The center piece of the event was a five-tier cake, with each layer a different flavor fave of Cardi’s: Dominican pineapple, strawberry, red velvet, chocolate ganache, and honey bun.

Entertainment included Orchestra Noir, a hip hop orchestra group, and the Ballethnic dance company.

Guests took home as party favors custom purple baby blanket, a nod to the epic self portrait shawl Cardi once wore to the airport.

A glowing Cardi went with light pink bodycon dress with bold  brushed silver statement necklace and earrings while Offset opted for a denim jeans and a jacket with a black turtleneck, a large cross necklace and a studded silver belt.

Guests included fellow rappers and our Bellyitch bumpwatch alums Rasheeda and singer Monica, and at one point in one video shared on Instagram,  Hennessy can be seen dancing with the expectant mom and rubbing her protruding belly.

It was very much the electrifying shower the “Invasion of Privacy” recording artist told Rolling Stone in her cover story that she wanted the event to be.

“I want a lit baby shower. My baby shower’s not starting at no 5:00. My sh*t is going to start at 9 p.m. because that’s how I celebrate, that’s how Caribbean people celebrate,” Cardi said. “I don’t like baby showers that be at 5 p.m. in the backyard, eating, cooking hors d’oeuvres. Nah. Sh*t, I might even drink some red wine. Red wine’s healthy, right?”

The change of plans comes a few days after Bardi told Jimmy Fallon on his late night talk show during her historic co-hosting gig that she planned to work until the baby arrived.

“I don’t know if it’s the strength of the fetus, but I have never felt so hungry to succeed,” Cardi shared during her co-hosting spot on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon the other week. “I rehearsed for this show,” the rapper continued. “I actually was up today at four in the morning. I was doing a radio run. Tomorrow [is another] radio run; another show, another party. I’m doing it all until I give birth.”

Just yesterday, she shut the show down at the Tinder Presents: Cardi B performance in the Mullins Center at the UMass, a prize to the college for winning the dating app’s “Swipe Off” contest after making the most “swipe rights” compared to other competing schools.

Cardi wore a asymmetrical red and white pinstripe  shirt over shorts to the performance.

The Bronx-native rapper first gained social media attention openly discussing her career as a stripper  which made her Instagram famous. She eventually landed a casting role on the VH1 TV series Love & Hip Hop: New York between 2015 and 2017, but she really started to get some fame after getting an Atlantic Records deal.

Her first single, “Bodak Yellow,” hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart – making her only the second female rapper to steal the top spot with a solo track.

Cardi’s debut studio album, “Invasion of Privacy”, was released last week and entered as the number one record on the Billboard 200. It features  “Bodak Yellow” as well as other notable singles “I Like It,” and “I Do,” featuring SZA.

Earlier this month, Cardi B announced during a performance on Saturday Night Live that she was pregnant and will be having a baby with her fiancé and hip hop group Migos member Offset.

After the news, she said she still planned to tour with Bruno Mars through October, and even twerked during her Coachella performance last week.

During a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres show, she said of the Coachella perfrmance that she wanted to show audiences what she did to get pregnant in the first place.

She had already canceled the Wireless Festival in July and Variety said that it’s “safe to assume” her July dates, and even potentially some shows in May, will be cancelled when her due date rolls around.

First-time mom-to-be rapper Cardi B made her Coachella debut over the weekend and played a few tracks of her recently released hit album  Invasion of Privacy which debuted number one on the Billboard 200.

During the Love and Hip Hop alum’s set that featured a orange back drop with her and her acrobatic dancers dressed in all white, the “Bodak Yellow” singer brought out a host of other popular rappers and hip hop artists and singers to guest perform their respective tracks on her album: Chance the Rapper, 21 Savage, YG, Kehlani and G-Eazy (playing “No Limit”)

The Bronx native earlier revealed that while she received $70,000 for each of her two performances this weekend, she shelled out an additional $300,000 or more to pay for the set, dancers, crew and other production costs that the Coachella team did not pay for, added to the lost income potential due to a non-compete/performance clause the festival attached to her contract stopping her from performing within a radius of the festival for a period of time. Wow!

Not only did she make history recently for beating Taylor Swift’s streaming record, being the first woman to be on 5 songs on Billboard’s Top 10 R&B/Hip Hop charts and the first female solo artist to land on number one of the Billboard 100 since Lauryn Hill, but she also made history as the first host and musical performer to announce her pregnancy on SNL (Saturday Night Live) last week! This mama’s star is meteoric!
