In the latest issue of Fit Pregnancy mom-to-be Ivanka Trump switches course on her no maternity leave stance from her last pregnancy.
She got lots of criticism for expressing plans to go right back to work after delivering her daughter.
This round, when Yahoo! asked how long she planned to stay out from work, she said she would play it by ear.
“I don’t know,” she said while attending the cover reveal party at a Trump building in New York City late September.
Trump, who is two weeks away from delivering her second child with New York Onserver owner Jared Kushner added:
“I guess I have to see how chaotic my life becomes. What I do professionally is such a big part of me and is so important to me that I would never stop working, but … there is naturally an adjustment period. It’s challenging. I’m in a family business [and] I have my own businesses. You can’t really compartmentalize or shut off. But I’ll figure it out,” she smiles. “I’ll wing it.”
Ok. We thought so. (Smile)
Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer had received similar criticism when she said she wouldn’t take maternity leave. She later ended up building a nursery close to her office so her baby could be near her during work. That move was proof that it isn’t that easy to leave baby behind and get back to work after birth.
The lesson is: “don’t make predictions about how much time off you’ll need until you actually have the baby.”
